A program that makes it easy to update the Windows 7 boot animation and text. Please tell me if you find any problems or design cool animations!

It requires Microsoft Windows Vista or newer, the MS Visual C++ 2010 library, the MS WIM library, and .NET Framework 4.0. See How to Use for more information.

Some parts of / contributions to the program are released as open-source.

If you wish to understand how this all works you can visit a thread at Seven Forums. Joakim, marcusj0015, and myself (thaimin) hashed out the details there.

By downloading this program you agree to the terms and conditions. Specifically not for commercial use. If you wish to use it for a commercial purpose, please contact me

This is currently being tested! It is not finished and does not completely work. Use it at your own risk (or in a virtual machine). If you get stuck forever in Windows Recovery Environment see Recovering winload.exe:

I have tried to change the bootanimation in many ways but this is the simplest way. I have checked it in VM Ware.
Very useful your tool, many thanks up to you

Yes you read correctly. This is a
BOOT LOGO CHANGER. Finally
after all this time we can change
the window 7 boot logo.

Run the sign_x86 or sign_x64 depending on your OS as admin.

Once completed, run Win7BootUpdater

Choose the folder your "Animation" is in (not the file, just
the folder)

Click Select whichever folder contains the animation you want

If you want to change the text, type in whatever you want.

Do not click Enable Test Signing, just select Go.

Once complete, restart and see if it worked.

I've included all the current animations. They are located in
Subfolders inside the BMP's folder. Currently there are 25 in all.

Before restarting either run rebuildmui_x86 or rebuildmui_x64 in
order not to have a watermark placed on your desktop

ON A COUPLE OF THE EXTRACTED ANIMATION FOLDERS YOU
MAY HAVE TO DRILL DOWN TO THE FOLDER THAT CONTAINS
THE ACTIVITY.BMP. THIS IS THE FOLDER FOR THE ANIMATION
YOU DECIDE THAT YOU WANT, THAT YOU NEED TO SELECT.

no matter what i do all i get is a black screen after doing this ......

i have taken the time to properly organize the files and the readme if you download my posted file and follow the instruction in it you will not get a black screen unless you have changed something on you system that effects bootup.

O.K., i have now tested it in 64bit and the animation and text changer crashes before even opening. I'll have to check with someone to see why it worked in 64 for them and not other people.

I get the following when i try to install into Win 7 64 bit. The only items installed are: The OS, Zonealarm Internet Security, Winrar 4.0 64 bit beta, And the Windows updates.

yea i can. if you are able to get into windows and it is running ok i would leave it alone at this point, because he is still working on why on a small percentage of win 7 comp's it doesn't work. if you cannot get back into win 7 then you need to follow the tutorial in the first post of the thread, or go the codeproject and follow the tutorial from there. the link for the code project is also in the first post of the thread. now be forewarned thats odds are once you preform the procedure to restore winload.exe your win 7 probably will be rolled back to the first time you got to the desktop after installing windows. meaning all updates you installed, all programs you installed, and all custom setting you have will be gone. i have already been through this once in a real environment, and twice in vm. so if you need further help please do not hesitate to pm me.
