Hi,

I really wanted to install your Blade theme, but my antivirus picked up something when I tried to install it. I don't know why you would go to all the work to put a virus in with this, so I'm wondering if there's an explanation?

Don't know if you downloaded the theme from here or not but I can absolutely verify that the Blade theme is not infected with anything, the theme is installed on my computer and my AVG IS 2013 nor malwarebytes picks up anything.

I am thinking that maybe you downloaded the theme from someplace else where it could have been repackaged with something and you have come here to place blame?

I have downloaded many, many themes from VC and have YET to pick up a trojan or a virus.

I JUST redownloaded the file not more than 30 seconds ago and scanned ........ nothing.

Firstly i personally have used this theme many times i have bitdefender the no:1 anti-virus and its says 100% clean not even a warning on the theme installer.

i really dont know why people insist on using 3rd grade anti-viruses like free editions and any of the following, ( norton all products, kaspersky, AVG, bullguard, MCfee) no offense to people who use them but there are total rubbish anti-viruses.

they flag more false positive then teenage girls scream at a Justin beber concert.

i highly recommend doing a bit of research also highly recommend you get a better anti-virus program

If your in doubt you can always upload the file to virus total for scanning https://www.virustotal.com/en/ but i can pretty much assure you it is virus free and a false positive created by AVG

Those free antivirus like AVG are not very accurate imho

Its the usual false alert like someone mentioned i've downloaded the theme two weeks ago and no problems from eset or malware bytes.

"they flag more false positive then teenage girls scream at a Justin beber concert" i'm keeping this one XD

Just because Bitdefender says Bitdefender Antivirus is no.1 doesn't make it so, I got nailed with a trojan just last week using Bitdefender 2013 so they can take that no.1 and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. No antivirus catches everything and THEY ALL will miss something from time to time and so will Bitdefender. NOW .... If you were using Eset (Nod32) or GData you wouldn't get an argument from me because those two and those two alone are top notch security solutions, NOT Bitdefender, but to call other antiviruses "rubbish" just because you are using an antivirus that YOU PERSONALLY are comfortable with isn't right.

Sorry to get off topic ..... just had to set the record straight.

To honestly set the record straight I would have to trust the companies that do the antivirus ratings for a living on what they consider the best and when you are getting the same av in the number one or 2 spot on every single list that has to say something about that antivirus bitdefender. Those companies rate av's day in and out for a living.

I would like to know the name of the so called trojan that got past bitdefender, and also ask were you running more then one av at the time as you know that running more then one av at a time they will conflict with each other and let viruses through.

p.s I should also mention that bitdefender has been in that spot as the number one av on all those lists for over 5 years now as well that also shows true as to how good it is can you make that claim with any other av out there...

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll maybe look into getting a new AV program. The three suggestions here (bitdefender, eset and gdata) all look pretty decent.

OMG----

I've been around forums for a long time, and one thing that always has a tendency to touch-off a heated debate like no other subject is antivirus preferences! LOL!----Worse than politics and religion, combined! Haha!
I'm using Bitdefender myself, have used it for a few months now (bought a 2-year license a while back, so).....and I'm pleased with it. I've used almost all of the poular ones at one time or other; Norton, Kaspersky, Eset, AVG, McAfee, etc., etc., etc.....ad infinitude.

I actually started using BD because I'd noticed Toadyshadow101's siggy thing.....I was intrigued, researched it on the av-rating sites, went to WalMart and picked up BD Internet Security 2013. I'm cool with it, like I said.

You have to understand that false-positives are just something that happens with almost every av to some degree. And almost all of them alert/quarantine what I term 'good trojans' and keygens, etc....I personally set my av (whatever one I'm running) to not mess with certain areas I designate to store my own caches of good-trojans, etc., on.....But yes, many av proggies give the red-alert on certain file-types or processes that the av determines are 'unknown' or using resources in such a way as to alert the thing.

You just gotta be savvy about it, and, like BigV said, also use a few of the online-scanning tools on the file in question, look closely at what the reports say is going on when the file is active, etc.....If it's some process that has to do with changing the appearance of images in a system-file, or some other customization-related process, common sense should tell you it's more-than-likely safe. But---not always! Some jackasses do certainly try to infect people's computers, or spy on you with keyloggers included.....You just have to ask the question "Who uploaded/created this? Is this guy trusted by lots of people?"-------

Most of the old-hands here at Virtual Customs I personally would pretty much trust on these types of things. Still a good idea to 2nd-guess, to run your own scans.....but overall you can give the benefit of the doubt to the main guys here at VC like MrGrim, Razorsedge, Toadyshadow101, BigV, gor17981, etc., etc.....

lol you know what I love most of your comment jimmy is that you converted to bit after seeing toadys sig that makes me feel great as I am a big preacher of how gd bit is as I been using it for going on 7 or 8 years now and I was the one who converted him to use it along with BigV as well lol

fixing ppls machines on the side for so many years I have tried every av out there and tested them greatly against viruses as ppl were always asking me what I was using and I fix a lot of infected machines once I found bit I stopped looking at av's and I can tell u one word of note that everyone's machine I have installed bit on that I have ever fixed has never brought it back to me with a virus infection prob thats why I stand behind it 100% lol

YN1F it good to see you also using Bit and very well said Jimmy. :tu:
But I didn't know their was such a thing as a good trojan to have on your system lol
I thought those good Trojans you kept in the bedside nighttable drawer. lmao
Hacks & Patchs and those sort of thing I can see having an area for them as I have an area excluded also for those types of things myself.

i've downloaded this from here as well and never got a virus. your anti virus or or browser or downloader might be compromised or it may have picked up a virus from others u downloaded, try doing a scan

i myself have used a lot of them and its true sometimes viruses still get past. i was kaspersky bit and now using MSE all those 3 worked just fine when i used them, just switched to mse recently because its free and pretty recommended by a lot if you're looking for a free one, no problems yet so far had it almost 3 months now i think

well after testing many products for years I can tell you this :
- Shareware: Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky PURE
-Freeware: Emsisoft Antimalware free version or Emsisoft Emergency Kit (portable)

Malwarebytes is good, NOD 32 is very good, Avira Antivirus is very good. BitDefender on some machines works great, on some machines gives problem

@Razorsedge: Yea, like yourself, I've used em all....I never have fixed a lot of computers, save my own and those of my family, and maybe 1 or 2 friends......

I used to like the Norton Internet Security---back in 2010.....But finally realized it sucked and would probably always suck. Then Kaspersky.....until I started getting BSODs from the dang program!

So----I was using the MSE (Microsoft) in Win7 for some time, because it was free, but looking around for another when I thought I'd try BitDefender since some of you guys here seemed to like it so much. I bought it for 2 yrs, for 3 computers....put it on mine, my wife's, then gave the key also to my bud Vigoni (Brane) and I think he likes it a lot too.
No complaints so far...and it works great with Win8.:spin:

Haha!---Yea, good-trojans do exist! Aside from the ones you keep in the nightstand or in your wallet! Along with cracks, patches, keygens, etc....they are a MUST-HAVE for old-hand hackers....But I don't have/keep anything designed to mess up someones computer, or spy on them. Just codes to crack software mainly, to study exploits and flaws.....Strictly for personal education! LOL! (not condoning piracy!)lmao2
