OK guys, I know you have been waiting for it and I said I might not release it but decided to give it to you all for free instead, it comes with a complete installer, just select the options you want to install, but make sure you read what each option does and don't just select all of them.

I recommend running sfc /scannow before you install and you should probably run the installer as administrator, especially if you want to use any of the post install restore options.

Well in Windows 7 you could have changed the colours in advanced appearance settings but since that was removed in Windows 8 you could edit the .theme file and add Custom Colours there, the following is an example of the default colours in the Vista8Mix theme, you can add these values to the .theme file.

You need to copy [Control Panel\Colors] with any of the colors you want to change so for example if you only want to change the window text colour and the window colour just add the following

Ok, So I installed this new version of Windows 8 with no previous themes and then I install this theme via the installer. Everything works; sound, mouse, icons. But the theme itself doesn't work, just the same theme I had before. Clock doesn't work either. What I mean by doesn't work is the theme isn't changed. Can I receive some help here. I have common sense so I've done everything this installer suggested.

You can try this patcher I have not installed this theme. I used this patcher when I installed the Beta of Equinox. and everything seemed to work fine.

You need to use Aero Glass by Big Muscle http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/161788-aero-glass-for-win8-rc0/ and to have the transparent windows you need the same programs you used in Windows 7, so black glass enhanced or whatever one you used.

thank you so much for you hard work. I installed on windows 8 Pro 64 bits. it works great the only thing that did not change was the new ribbon, but is ok i can deal with that. working with four monitors and with this color theme is so much better on the eyes thank you so very much

The start menu is coming up with solid grey boarders and once you move the arrow over it all turns grey. What can I do to fix this?

The ribbon disabler is a program, you can execute it and it gives you the option to disable the ribbon or enable it, the start menu should not be that way unless you used Start8 by stardock, you should have got Start Is Back as I mentioned.

That bug on the start menu can be removed by going in the Start Is Back options, right click on the start button and select properties and in the appearance options select disable start menu translucency, or the other option is to use the Aero Glass program I mentioned that will remove it as well.

For Aero Glass, all you need to do is make a directory on your system drive called DWM with the contents of the download you can also download AGTweaker made by another developer to give you a few nice options and a way to enable it or disable it, you can add the contents of that file to the DWM folder as well, another way to make it even easier is to add a right click context menu to start AGTweaker.
Here is a x64 and x86 installer I just made for you, you will need to log off and log on to see the changes, or if you you use AGTweaker provided in the installer you can just hit apply, adjust the transparency in the personalization menu by using the color amount slider.

Yeah it should be if your using Black Glass enhanced and Aero Glass.

Little tip for you as well, if you want the windows to be less transparent when using Black Glass Enhanced then adjust it using the color intensity in the personalization menu.

OK well I think you might want to try again, I know that with my installer if you don't scroll down the list all the way it will sometimes check the wrong box if you try selecting one at the bottom of the list, just leave all the others unchecked and just try installing the icons and extras again.

the reason the other theme patcher doesn't work is there is a Microsoft update that conflicts with the ultra patcher the core patcher is the way to go ive tested it from a fresh install on windows 8 on all the available updates up to todays date and has not failed me yet.

I would have to make a light version of this theme the same as I did with the machine theme to overcome the problems with the text, same goes with the font, I would have to change them all back to default I may work on this at a later date.

I would never recommend a system restore as a way of removing a theme, you can simply remove the theme by deleting it from C:\Windows\Resources\Themes and if you want to restore your system changes then just run sfc /scannow

I would never recommend a system restore as a way of removing a theme, you can simply remove the theme by deleting it from C:\Windows\Resources\Themes and if you want to restore your system changes then just run sfc /scannow

Actually I found I can deal with the difficult-to-see text by just changing the theme (it is not that common). However even after deleting the files the font persists, which is the most serious problem since it messes with the context menus on the ERP program I use for work. So do I have to delete the fonts or change it somehow from the registry?

The fonts should change when you change the theme, if not then maybe you need to log off.

From the startisback preferences click the import button,browse to the C\windows\resources\themes\HUD folder and you'll find the HUD orb image there,somewhere.

No TRC is not supported in Windows 8, you need to make sure you selected the check box in the installer "Theamable Control Panel Nav Panes (Supported theme required)" if you didn't check that box the first time you can run the installer again and check that one on it's own, your side panes should show after that.

Well... I didn't make a back up D:< Fooie. So I reinstalled Win8 >.> Then, followed the Directions. Nao it works :P Only thing I am getting now is that using the start button my nav popup is all wonky and some-what... Showing the theme. When I click on it it goes solid gray... :| This just dun like me, lol.

Just browse to %windir%\system32\imageres.dll when you click on change ICON and select the one that you like that suits you. :) The Start orb you can use start is back to change that. It is in the theme extras.

When it comes to themes the HUD series has always been my favorite, especially Launch, I've been sitting on edge waiting for this series to be ported over. :greedy:

I can't reproduce any of those problems mate, aside from the navigation bar background that sometimes happens with OldNewExplorer.

Windows 8 seems to load defaults from [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\DefaultColors] after every lock/sleep/hibernate/fast shutdown, what you need to do is delete that registry entry and the problem may stop if that is the cause.

To apply theme button, first you need to have is startisback+ on your 8.1 os. If you have it then go to your default start menu button, right click on it PROPERTYS, then navigate to APPEARANCE, inside that section load your new button by going to ADD, search it for it usually at Windows/Resourses/ThemeFolderName/Explorer.exe folder or Start Orb folder, after it appears inside application window click apply and enjoy! :Peace:

This mistake is not mistake by theme builders or importers, it's a bug that needs to be fixed in new version of OldNewExplorer, hope they fix it in 1.0.8 version, till then you will need to accept this mistake by their side (we all have it)! :peace:

If you don't have them, then the coding doesn't understand why the normal path it takes isn't there and so you get the error upon certain things within the them, so having them will be a better idea so you don't get any errors. However, it's most likely just a path issue so the errors aren't hurting your OS, it's just not going to fully work properly because some of the paths are missing that allow the theme to fully interact with the OS...?

no you must patch your system to enable third party themes if you want the theme to look better you need those extras everyone I know with win 8 uses all the extras he posted some are needed.

Yeah I'm not doing this again.. This themer which is supposed to be "easy" and doesn't run in the background just killed my computer.. "DWM Incompatible", boot loops, the whole works.. Wouldn't repair, almost wouldn't refresh.. I had to trick the system because it said couldn't refresh because the drive was locked so I put in my old corrupt HDD and switched a few settings in bios that finally got my main HDD unlocked and refreshed, which also means I just lost ALL my games, programs, and drivers. So this "easy" themer/patcher just caused way more trouble than installing and running a third-party program. I've used Stardock on previous computers for YEARS and never had a single issue. First day I try this out and I have to lose everything. Themes look great in the screenshots, but no thank you. I will not risk losing everything just to attempt to make it look a little different. And why in the world do I want my system to look like Win7?? Why not just get and install Win7?? If you all are so unhappy with Win8/8.1, why not switch back to 7?? I understand wanting the system to be themed differently, but changing the programming to look like a previous version of windows when you can just install the previous version of windows is pointless and way too risky. I am happy to say I will never try this patcher/themer again, IF I so must change the appearance of my sytem again, I have no issues running Stardock programs. My computer can well handle another running program.


EDIT: OK so I may have been a bit pissed off about having to refresh my computer when I posted this.. Since I'm back to square 1 I'm going to try to get it to work and see what it is that's causing the boot loops and errors.. Since I built my own computer maybe it's a compatibility issue with a driver or something, although it really doesn't explain the boot loop issue. Figuring out issues is something I like doing except when it involved losing all you have, but I'm already beyond that now so I'm going to give this another go and see what gives..

I will miss you Aero Glass. lol I am sure an update is forth coming, just wish Microsoft would not make such drastic changes. It also looks to have reverted some of the HUD Evolution Icon pack. Not really sure I should try to reload the icon pack or not being this looked to be a major Windows update. because of a few features in 8.1.1 i've been wanting to wipe my drive and install it and 7 side by side, but every time i go to test 8.1.1 in vm areo glass breaks it. then here and other forums i've heard too many times to count that update 1 which is included with 8.1.1 breaks various items in custom themes. i plan on using gsw953's ultimate clean cause on 7 it's what i run, but until i'm sure i can run it safely i'll stick with 7.

Personally I do not have a problem with the blue icon. As far as I have known he always had the volume Icon as blue WiFi looking icon for the Evolution / Blue HUD and Poison / Red HUD was a red WiFi looking icon. Nothing to fix.


That is your preference on Start is back but the issues aren't easy fixes due to the changes between 8 and 8.1. Start is back seems to fix the issues with the right click menus on the task bar. You can still use start panel with the bottom left start screen button just needs to be enabled in the settings. Though in Start is back it is "Enable bottom-left-corner (Start screen button) in the Start is back configuration under switching.

But, again that is your choice not much more I can say. Mr. Grim does an awesome job with these styles and they have always been my favorite. I will do what I have to to make sure they work right, even if it requires some third party methods.

Re-download the zip file for the HUD evolution and extract it to another folder look for theme then HUD Evolution. See if you can actually see the files there.

From what I see you are missing explorer.exe, fonts, imageres.dll and the topshell folder. Those hopefully should be the only folders you need unless it failed to copy other theme files too. If you see them copy them over to the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\Hud Evolution. If it pops up warning make sure you say yes you want to copy to that location.

Hmm did you install 8.1 version of HUD Evolution on your 8.1 os? Cause in this thread, there are 2 themes, one for win8 and one for 8.1!
Also before you post your issue with this theme, do you have installed all this following application so everything works the way it should:
- UltraUXThemePatcher 2.3 or up,
- OldNewExplorer 1.0.7 or up,
- StartIsBack+ 1.6.1 or up,
- AeroGlass!

That is a problem with the official Aero Glass installer, it adds a custom theme atlas image to use with the default aero theme that changes the window borders to the Aero RP style, you will have to remove the image in the aero glass folder, not sure what the name was but it will be a png image, either that or remove the registry entry that the installer adds to enable it.

Thanks. I went and reinstall the official AeroGlass, there is a checkmark you remove when installing that dont enable the png for those with custom theme so got that working perfect. Somthing else i noticed is found in the following pic. When right click on an icon in task bar my menu looks strange.

I have MS Office 2013 Professional installed too. When I start Word, my "Writing sheet" is dark grey. So here is the Question... Is there any way I can get that sheet back to original.. White at the same time that I'm useing this theme??? :)

Dear Buanesen, here is one simple way: since theme use their own custom color settings, it's normal that all this looks the way you say.

I've started doing like most of you all with manually installing themes via c: windows/resources/themes..... and normally i have seen just the two folders theme file & folder to where we just copy the two folders into the theme folder but in this case with the hud evolution theme pack 8.1 there are two theme file folders and one folder but inside of the folder there is a folder that has top shell on it as well................ note the photo highlighted in blue.does this mean to move both theme files in ?? The topshell folder is meant to be nested inside the parent folder, I have done it this way to save having 2 separate folders, the topshell (details pane on top) is done using the shellstyle.dll and needs to be separated form the bottom details pane theme, just place the whole folder in as you normally would and it should work fine.

Windows 8.1 has some problems with modified sounds if you have Windows 8.1 pro here is a way to fix it (didn´t test it on normal 8.1).
To solve this problem you should simply changed the sound theme by right clicking on the desktop, select ‘Personalization’
then change the Sounds to ‘Windows Default’ and the extended attributes are inconsistent error was solved. 68146

Taskbar - no, you need to edit it with WSB (Windows style Builder) with theme u want to apply it,
Start menu - there is way to create custom style (start menu) file for StartIsBack+ application, so you can load it manually into StartIsBack+ application, but that is all up to theme builders,
Start Orb - yes, in every theme you download from Virtual Customs for Windows 8/8.1/8.1.1, custom orb are located under Theme Folder - Start Orb folder or explorer.exe folder or in some rare cases under Theme Extras folder, depends where theme builders put it!

Hey mate, about your issue here i'm sure you apply Windows 8 theme to your Windows 8.1 i got this similar bug on my end long time ago, make sure you download this theme version in this thread, typed like this:

HUD Evolution 8.1 Themepack.zip (http://virtualcustoms.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=66812&d=1394730795) (46.70 MB, 8144 views)

Also make sure you have installed following customization software on your pc:
-Aero Glass 1.2.5 for windows 8.1,
-StartIsBack+ 1.6.2,
-OldNewExplorer 1.1.0 and UltraUXThemePatcher!

you must have the wrong version of aeroglass if you're getting that message. below is a link to the files i repacked that i know work on win 8.1.1. please make sure that you installed windows, and all updates prior to installing the theme patcher. also in the future it's safer to to set windows to it's default theme then do the windows updates, restart even if you're not asked to, then once everything reloads you can switch your theme back.

You need to purchase or donate Aero Glass to get rid of that watermark on your right bottom of the screen! Ones you install aero glass you use it on your system constantly, not just on default theme mate!
Also yes, you need to delete all previous HUD theme you got and use only ones in ''HUD Evolution 8.1 Themepack zip File'' on your OS.
Before you ask any more questions you should check some tutorials mate for ex. ''how to do some things'' cause some things you need to do it on your own, here are some usefull materials for you, maybe they will help:
