where did you download the "BootUpdater" from? Did you download it directly from the authors site or from other site like softonic or elsewhere? When you ran the bootupdater application, did you run it as administrator? Did you try using a different animation file to see if it is the file that may be corrupted? Your computer being an EFI based system could also be the problem.Am not too familiar with it though.Havent read up much on it.Here is a thread that seems to have the same problem as yours on this site.Might help, maybe not.Is worth a try. http://www.howtothings.co.uk/thread-1281.html

I downloaded it from authors site, ran as administrator,i did try a different animation it went thru but when it booted looked like windows xp boot..lol never showed what i had .

It seems as this would be your problem as i have noticed you have posted the same error. This is the troubleshooting area from the authors site.Im pretty sure you can fix this.Use the following steps to change your boot mode:

1. completely shut down your computer.
2. power on the system
3. use the right arrow key to select boot
4. with boot mode highlighted, press enter, and then use the down arrow to select "legacy Bios".
5. press enter
6. press f10 and select yes to save the change and exit the bios.

Hope this helps.

ok,so u want me too change bios to legacy Bios from the boot i did and seems to do the same thing.could it be the windows boot manager?
I think when i redid my windows i only had the boot set for efi first should have set it for both legacy and efi,I will redo it again and see.thanks

nolife (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/258480-nolife) if you have to change from uefi to lagacy in my book it's not worth it. on another note you're running 7 and not 8 or above, so no need to run as administrator. just make sure you turned off the user account control. Aries (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/271997-Aries) thanks for taking the time to help nolife (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/258480-nolife).

i fixed mine this way:
* you will need to show system/hidden files first
-go to c:\ and look for the systemfile BOOTMGR and some other old ones named BOOTMGR~1, BOOTMGR~2 and so on.
-you need to have at least one of the old ones
-rename or move the current BOOTMGR (rename it to something else, if it wont let you just takeownership of it first or use UNLOCKER).
-rename one of the old ones to BOOTMGR
-RESTART your computer (its still gonna be that old bootscreen, i hate it too lol)
-now you can run win7Bootupdater again with no errors. just to be safe i would suggest you get this:
http://www.coderforlife.com/projects/win7boot/Win7BootUpdater.exe
instead of running that old win7bootupdater (for me the old one started differently from how this one did so this might be an updated version)

good luck hopefully it works for u too

they should be with the original bootmgr in drive c. do you see any bootmgr file? if not uncheck "hide system and protected files." anyway thats how i fixed mine, i just replaced that file with an old one and nothing else. and then winbootupdate started working again. you should try searching for the file maybe you have an old one in there somewhere. just check its file size make sure its different from the one you currently have.
also before doing any changes make sure you know how to fix it if it doesnt boot on you. dont delete or overwrite the bootmgr you are currently using, just rename it so you can bring it back later on if u need to. good luck

*-the bootmgr~1,2,3... files will be there if you've used winbootupdater to change your bootscreen before

do you happen to have windows 8 in your system too? because i heard this only happens when you dualboot with 7 and 8. this happened to me after i did a dualboot but what was weird is that i dont remember the bootscreen changing until after i've done the monthly updates for my windows 7, thats when it changed, i even did a system restore to before the update and bootscreen changed to the customized.
but anyway im just thinking maybe if you have win8 in there as well you could disable the harddrive that it is on and just boot with win 7, it might ask you to go to repairmode but at least the BOOTMGR will go back to how it was after that then you'd be able to back it up, and then re-enable your win8. sounds like a bit of work but its what i would do.
OR i can give you one of my BOOTMGR files if you wanna risk it. im on a 7 ultimate 64bit, just a warning, i have not tried to boot into win8 after i replaced my bootmgr with an old one so i dont know what it could do to the win8. i actually decided to just use 7 after win8 messed up my 7's bootsector. just let me know if ever and i'll send it

Are you running a SSD?
These errors are showing up on my new build with SSD included. It appears this new hardware is using the boot manager differently making the boot changer app useless.

My other PC's with HHD's are still able to use this app though.

No worries & no hurries bud..
I did that search that most wanted suggested myself but no go on my end.. Sorry...
I am not real sure about this myself but since my hardware changed in my new build I am guessing that had something to do with it?
