Hello,

I wasn't sure where to post this so I posted it here. I'm having trouble unninstaling UxStyle. Basically it keeps saying something went wrong. I've checked the log file but I honestly don't understand a lick of it, lol. Either way, here's the contents of the log file. Can anyone please help me with this?

This is an ongoing problem with UxStyle, they keep saying it is fixed but it never is, I cannot tell you how many times when I did use it I went to uninstall it "per the owners instructions" and it just would not uninstall and created havoc on my system. I would always wind up doing a reinstall on Windows 7 or a refresh on Windows 8 / 8.1 to correct the problem.

I am sorry to say that your best option at this point for full removal is to do a pc refresh if you are using Windows 8.1, if your using 7 ..... well you know where I am going with this :unhappy:

In the future I would recommend using Windows UxTheme Multi patcher from here : http://www.windowsxlive.net/

Or consider using Big Muscles UxTheme Signature Bypass that you can get here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170945-uxtheme-signature-bypass/ - Personally this is what I am now using because a.) Windows Updates do not affect it and b.) it runs from the registry so if you want to remove it it's just a matter of removing the registry entries, no more problems with Windows update breaking the UxTheme patcher and no more problems switching themes.

Thanks. I'm on Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Evaluation Copy Build 10130, so I'm basically trying to remove the copy that got left on here when I switched over from Windows 8.1.1

Do a reset or refresh back to Windows 8.1.1> reinstall Windows 10 insider preview 10130> if your going to use custom themes on 10 then install Big Muscles UxTheme Signature Bypass because it actually was designed for Windows 10.

Good Luck :sigh:

Does the UxTheme Signature Bypass thing work with Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Evaluation Copy Build 10130?

Unfortunately I didn't have anything to back up Win 8.1 with so I can't get that back. As for UxTheme Signature Bypass thing... I'm not entirely sure how that works. I tried Ultra Ux Theme Patcher a long time ago and messed up my comp bad, so I'm not overly fond of manually patching my system.

Well, well, what a coincidence Ran HP Recovery Manager and used Factory Reset in there, and it took me back to Windows 8.1 lol. I shall wait for the official Windows 10 to be released before trying to upgrade to it again, lol

used UxTheme Signature Bypass. Placed the xxx64.dll reg thingy into area it said to, and the xxx32.dll into its area as well. Just one question. Am I suppose to replace the 'xxx' in the dll name with anything? If so please let me know.

-EDIT-

This method had absolutely no effect at all, lol.

Did you inject the dlls as explained in the thread?
Did you make the required registry entries?
It's not as simple as just placing the dlls in their required spots.
Here is the link with the required registry entries that must be made, be sure to read the whole page : http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170945-uxtheme-signature-bypass/page-3

Although I would highly recommend you read the entire thread for a better understanding of how it works, it's only three pages.

Okay,I looked through it. There is no way i'll be able to manually apply all of that. It's way too complicated to wrap my head around. Can someone possibly create a auto installer for all of the registry things needed, and put a file with any other things required in e folder as well with instructions on what to do with tem if there are any? Basically like what many of the themers here do with the registry auto applier things they put into the folder with the themes?

Dude ..... it's not that hard, here it is laymen's terms as simply as I can put it .......

Download DLL tool to bypass UXTheme signature verification (UxTheme Signature Bypass) here: http://www.glass8.eu/download.html - you will see the download link towards the bottom of the page (2 links from the bottom)

1.)Copy both dll's from the UxTheme Signature Bypass rar file to your C:\AeroGlass folder

2.) Open start menu, click "Run" , type "regedit" (without quotes) and hit enter

3.) in regedit on the left side tree open the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows

4.) With the last key (Windows) Highlighted make sure all keys on the right read as so, if not, edit or insert them (WITHOUT QUOTES) :
"LoadAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000001
"RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000000
"AppInit_DLLs"="C:\\AeroGlass\\DWMGlass.dll,C:\\AeroGlass\\ModernFrame.dll,C:\\AeroGlass\\UxThemeSignatureBypass64.dll"

Make sure all the above is correct before closing registry editor.

5.) Copy the text below, paste to notepad and save the file to the desktop as AG-RegSetup.bat, run it by double clicking on the AG-RegSetup.bat file on your desktop then reboot. After reboot you will be able to run 3rd party themes.

I know the script below says Windows 10 but it works on both 10 and 8.1.

For Windows 8.1 or 10:

@Echo Off
:: AG-RegSetup.bat
:: DosProbie-March 2015
:: ADMIN
(NET FILE||(Powershell -command Start-Process '%0' -Verb runAs -ArgumentList '%* '&Exit /B))>Nul 2>&1
:: AERO GLASS REG SETTINGS FOR WINDOWS 10
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /F /V "AppInit_DLLs" /T REG_SZ /D "%Systemdrive%\AeroGlass\ModernFrame.dll,%Systemdrive%\AeroGlass\UxThemeSignatureBypass64.dll"
Echo.
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /F /V "AppInit_DLLs" /T REG_SZ /D "%Systemdrive%\AeroGlass\UxThemeSignatureBypass32.dll"
Echo.
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /V "LoadAppInit_DLLs" /T REG_DWORD /D 1 /F
Echo.
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /V "LoadAppInit_DLLs" /T REG_DWORD /D 1 /F
Echo.
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /V "RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs" /T REG_DWORD /D 0 /F
Echo.
Reg Add "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" /V "RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs" /T REG_DWORD /D 0 /F
Echo.
Timeout /t 3 /nobreak>Nul
Exit

It's that easy.

Edit : BTW , I take no credit whatsoever for the information above, all credit goes to Big Muscle For the UxTheme Signature Bypass dlls and injection code And DosProbie for the registry and bat file info to pull this all together so it works , all of it can be found over at MSFN, I just condensed a 3 page forum thread is all I did.

With the above info you can say goodbye to any UxTheme patcher you may be pulling your hair out with and not have to worry anymore about uninstalling it and switching to the default Windows theme when new Windows Updates come out, Windows updates will not affect what is above, just set it and forget it.

Sweet! Worked like a charm! One question. Will this work on windows 8.1 comps with multiple accounts on them? Because my grandma's bf wants to be able to have this on his lappy as well and I'm not sure if it works the same way on a comp with 2 or more separate accounts on it. Also, both accounts on it are Microsoft accounts with admin permissions.

Don't know, never tried, the systems I have use this on only have one account on them, all I can say is try, if not you may have to go through the entire process for each account which I am thinking will probably be the case.

I just realised i dont have the ModernFrame.dll for this. I'm running Windows 8.1.1 and it isn't there. I looked in the AeroGlass folder and noticed that. Do you know whee I can get it?

---EDIT---

Found it, applied, it, and ironically, no effect. lol. ModernFrame.DLL must be solely for Windows 10, rofl. No matter, that'll be officially out fairly soon now anyways.

ModernFrame.dll is used only in Windows 10, if your running 8.1 you don't need to have it. ThemesSignatureBypass will work either with or without it.

At Github (riverar/Uxstyle, comment 13th) (https://github.com/riverar/uxstyle/issues/16), there's a solution that worked perfect for me.
