I wouldn't go as far to say it's a piece of shit, most times when it pops up I circumvent it, but it's common sense also, and in this case I am sure it wasn't too far off the mark. Obviously the website has been reported by a lot of people and more than likely for nefarious reasons. Now Skinpacks owners can argue that it's a false positive, well, then if it is then fix it and if you don't I can get what you offer in other places that are deemed safe.
Smart screen does not pop open a lot but when it does it just makes you think twice about what your doing and where your wanting to go, like I said, most times I ignore it but there has been a time or two when I stopped and said why take the chance, I can get what I want in a place I KNOW is safe.Last edited by Dark Knight; 06-01-2016 at 05:41 PM.

I know I'm bumping a necro-thread, but I'm on the prowl searching for nifty themes again. I ran across Skinpacks.com and am still put off that there's such great looking stuff there, but the download procedure is so whacky!
You're given 3 choices (AFTER clicking the 'Visit Download Page' link which, oddly enough, isn't even an external link.)
Download it without ads for $2.99
Download it with ads for Free
Visit SkinPacks Store
I'm then taken to a strange looking page that has a file directory which contains
'..' (I assume takes you back to parent directory)
'Password.txt' (Most files require passwords in order to access the files' information)
'NameOfSkinpack.sfx.exe' (The 'SkinPacks' installer files. Of which, the file size doesn't match what is displayed on the page. I'm seeing a file which is supposed to be ~22,000kb and when clicked upon and initiated for downloading, the file is displayed in my Firefox prompt as 1.5 MB. Wtf?)
I'm assuming it's one of them there CNET-like download manager packages, but nowhere on the site does it mention any of this. And I'm not certain that's in fact what it is since I didn't download it due to skepticism.
I'm not asking anyone to post dirt about a website or trying to talk trash on it, but what gives?! All this runaround nonsense has me baffled.
Anyways. My annual update for this threadregister or log in to view signatures!

Just reading my post above should be enough.
Personally, I don't download any third party themes from anywhere but here. Skinpacks requires you to use their installer which in my mind is a no-no, most of the themes found there you can find here without installers, plus their download requirements that you pointed out above are shady and just a way for them to make a quick buck for what is already available here for free. What they are trying to do is make you pay in one way or another for something that is not even theirs, if you look around there you will find a couple of GRiM's themes there also.
Download themes from here, donate to VC to keep them free.Last edited by Dark Knight; 06-28-2017 at 11:17 PM.

The site "Skinpacks" is garbage, they are only stolen themes which offer no credit to the theme creators and are basically virus installers.
