Mark, i've noticed that some of the buttons when reading threads will highlight as they should on a mouseover but the Post Reply button has no mouseover image.

Is this normal?

We have added allot of mods to the site so it may be broken from one of them, hopefully Sean will have some answers and fix it up.

Marks right with what's happend, we have a mod that's called Automod which replaces code itself. It's just something I didn't spot at the time but I have noticed it afterwards and then forgot about it. :">

thanks for the reminder Jeff and welcome to VC mate. :)

EDIT: The roll-over is now fixed :)

EDIT2:
OK, turns out it's an error with the X-Treme skin made by the author, this is taken from their forum:

hello,

in all the x-treme skins there is a bug where when u put the mouse over the "post reply" it does not switch to the second photo. (the colored one). it remains the same...

how can i fix this bug please?

thank you for helping.

You are right, I don't know how I missed that one. Will fix when I get off work.

I can fix this, but I need to look a file, would you please give me your site address?

I've now told (http://www.skin-lab.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&p=3751#p3751) the skin author where the problem is and how to fix this for everyone else. :)

I would like to start off with..The site is wonderful. It was well thought out when it was put togather.

I am actually using the "X-Silver" theme because that suits my mood the best with forums.

I would like to suggest though with the smileys and any images. Have them the same size. I know some people like the .gif smiley faces but they have white backgrounds and are very big.

I have learnt something in my 3 years running forums that small/compact and easy on the eyes and also stuff that flows togather with the theme/layout will win you over in respect and popularity. But other than that, sites good. :)

The site is Great, I found VC while browsing wincustomize, I like category searching, i.e. Nexus> Nexus skins> Nexus icons, etc. (does that make sense?) I do however like this site better, than the other "skinning, theme sites", because of the interaction, with the VC Crew. You guys are very helpful, and the replies to questions that may be dumb, are very helpful, easy to understand, as well as being gracious. Thanks once again and keep up the good work, I hope to be sending some financial support soon. :D

I seem to find that my CPU levels are very high when browsing this site.
I apologize for not being as technical savvy as most of the members of this site. But I do hope to be one day. Gotta start somewhere, right? But I digress.
Anyway, upon searching for the culprit in task manager, I find that a particular Firefox plug-in Container is hogging up all the fun.
In fact, while listening to some tunes this morning while looking around, Pink Floyd to be exact, the song started to draggg really hard. I'm deeply concerned about this issue because I absolutely LOVE this site. Good spot to really grab hold of some top notch skills. I see that. And I certainly don't want to lose it. I'm going to visit through another browser for the time being. Maybe Chrome or Opera.
With that said, here's a couple shots of what's going on...

Its so high because of everything here like the image resize and among other things. Right now there is really nothing to do about it just yet but it will be put on the list of things to look at.

Thank you for the feed back. Much appreciated.

Quick update on the high CPU usage.
I installed Pale Moon & it seems to be less resourceful.
I'm still keeping my eye on the Flash Plug-in & so far things have leveled down a bit. (aside from a spike here & there).
Thanks for your help.

I've been doing a lot of browsing on this site and have found many helpful tools and tutorials.
I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone for sharing all of their skills & creativity.
I currently have finals coming up. This week and next, so I'm quite busy, but as soon as I'm done I'm going to dedicate a lot of time & energy
into learning all that I can.
Again. Thank you everyone. :smug:

Tips to speed up the forum:

1. Remove the 'Last 16 Attachments in Forum'. I personally have never used it and is a huge resource hog for what it is!!

2. Remove the 'Virtual Customs Chat' this again is a huge resource hog. Also it takes the focus away from the forums. i.e (using Chat instead off posting) After all it is a forum and not a chat room!! If you that desperate for a chat room I'm sure you could use a free web host for that privilege.(sub domain)

3. Most of the skins here are also very heavy and take ages to load. How about putting the default phpbb skin back and or adding some lighter skins.(at least people have a choice).

I do come here now and then but I don't spend much time as I like because of the above issues.

Thank You!!

Hi Anthony thanks for the feedback.

I do find the last 16 attachments useful, It shows me straight away when a new theme has been posted in the up coming themes thread as well as other interesting topics in the customization forums, (this can be disabled on other styles)

Again, I do use the chat on the site which is only viewable by a select few and I think it makes our community of Artists and privileged members closer and I could not imagine having the site without all the fun and antics that go on there. (this can be disabled on other styles)

I do agree that most of the skins may be too heavy and I will have a look for a lighter skin and I will leave off the chat and last 16 attachments mod for those who do not want it.

I just mean that they are mods for those styles, so I do not have to install those mods on all the styles and have some styles for users that prefer not to have them enabled, if you know of any styles that you would like me to consider let me know.

I have been a member here for awhile now and I must say that this is one of if not the best site of it's type on the Net. There are great designers here that do a great job. The only problem I see is that the site is down quite often and every post requires moderator approval. This I think is kind of unnecessary. I am a Super/Global Mod on 4 other sites and belong to about 40 Forums and this is the only one with that requirement. The one site I Mod has it for only the first 10 posts that a new member makes. If someone is going to spam the forum, it will be done way before 10 posts. Just something that you may consider changing.

First off, thanks for the compliments to the site, i'm glad that you like it here :)

As far as i know, it's only the first 10 posts that requires to be approved before you can post freely without having to wait for approval ;
And for these 10 posts to even go into effect and people being able to post without approval, 10 posts has to be approved, which would make the scenario that a spammer should post for example 20 threads about something, impossible as it would all get disapproved, the username, email and IP banned, plus the user deleted.

We know there are some problems with the site going down or being slow its being worked on just can't find a remedy just yet. Once you hit 10 posts you will move to another group and won't need your posts approved. This was implemented cause the site is being hit by spammers this is the only way to keep the forum free from spam and so the bots will not index the spam.

We have a chatbox here already, but it's only for people with the rank of member or higher ;)
But if you need help, post a topic on it instead and the artist, or another one of the members here, will help you fix your problem

1st off, I am a brand new member to this site and actually was just googling themes and found you guys and I must say that I am very happy that I did. This is THE best site of this kind I have found, as far as ease of use and collection of themes, mods, tools etc. Honestly the only thing I can see that needs improvement is the loading of pages but I know you are working on that and tbh, when the pages finally load and I see the themes that your gifted artists have created, I can definitely say it's worth the wait! lol Anyway, great job on the site and the themes and I look forward to becoming an active member of your community. Keep up the good work guys!

Every single File I downloaded got quarantined by Norton's. I had to manually restore each file. Just a heads up that you might need to disable Norton if for some god awful reason you use it. :cheeky:

This site is realy amazing. I make websites in my spare time. but they are not better than this one. I like this verry much but I don't like the load times sometimes because there are many moving objects / images. These create the long loadtime.
this does not mean that is is dependin on your server. I think it's becaus my inthernet isn't fast... I can't stream a HD youtube vid. so slow is my inthernet.

I stumbled upon your site when I was Googling a coding issue I was having. I was totally bowled over by your custom theme. It has to be the best theme I have seen n a forum, hands down (no ass-kiss intended). The only thing I can think of (and I had to think hard) to slightly improve the site is to have a 'your posts' button somewhere. This would make for speedy navigation.

Keep up the great work.
