These are just icon packs that I made to use with program of your choice, personally I use Restorator to edit my imagres.dll and shell32.dll directly, that way I can change the icons I want without having to rely on 3rd party software.

Yeah I don't mind doing that mate I mod the .dll's that are used in your previous packages except for the Pink_Ultimate package with that one I started from fresh clean .dll's and that all went well and now i have them all in seperate folders like "Imageres.dll-Icons" all numbered so I know which one gets assigned to which number.
The thing is is that I always test after doing them on my desktop PC that way if i stuff up I can just do a clean install within about 10-15 minutes and start again I don't keep anything special on my main OS partition so it doesn't matter.
But as for other people I would hate for somebody to use an icon pack installer and loose a lot of work so guess it would be a "use at your own risk" but from recollection you and Gen have been saying that all along.
So i can just share the one's i do if ya like I use RTM_7600-x64 so i don't mind sharing the installers for just the one's i do if it save's ya bit of time and work. ;)

If you are using Windows 7 then the Icon packs with installers are the best way to go, if not then you will need to edit the dll's manually with a program like Restorator, or alternatively use WinBubble (http://unlockforus.blogspot.com/2007/11/winbubbles-features-gap.html) which is a good option and is easy to use, but it wont do all of them, only the basics.

One question, on the new packs without the installer, can you just substitute the .DLLs into the BlackAndGold installer and run the installer (renaming them correctly, if need be)?

Also, throughout this thread, a lot of the images are not showing up in a defualt Win7 IE window (am in hte process of reinstalling Windows 7 from scratch to cealr up a few issues from my incessant testing of apps - so I went looking for the latest version ofthe BlackAndGOld icon set).

One final thing - any possibility of a *third* B&G set, mimicking the full glass colored sets? And do you know how to change the feault icons of the things pinned on the taskbar (Explorer, IE, WiMP) or do the new packs do that automatically?

Hi John and welcome to Virtual Customs and welcome to the VC Team :party2:

To answer your first question, yes you can replace the icons in the dll's that come with installers with the ones from any of the packs without installers and no renaming is necessary if your using Restorator, you simply drag and drop the icons to replace the ones you want to change.

As for the images not showing, that may be because some of them are missing after my Skydrive got wiped out after a stuff up on their end so I have uploaded a few pictures to Tinypic to replace the ones that are missing but there are still some that I haven't done.

And the answer to your last question regarding a Black & Gold Full glass Icon set, I can do one of those for you, or if you like you can make your own with the included PSD that comes with the other Full Glass icon sets, it contains every icon all in layers and different groups so you can go through it and change them to whatever colour you like and change any of the inserts or add new ones, if you don't feel up to the task though let me know and I will do them for you.

Delete the icon cache from C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Local\iconcache.db and to delete the thumbnail cache do a disk cleanup and select thumbnail cache.

Create a desktop shortcut and right click on it and select properties then select change icon and select the icon you want to use and make sure you have the icon in a location where it won't be in the way or deleted, then pin it to the taskbar.

this icons will go swimmingly witht my icon collection im building...i have so far collected 5184 icons (^_^) so thanks for the UL and sharing your icon creations......i suck a makin icons...the only way i can make icons is with the paintdotnet plugin "button maker" it makes basic buttons and then i just add a small image that represents the program app type picture...thats the only way i can make em so im tryin to lern how to make em ...the sad part is .....i know how to alter pictures...like i can clean up some ones fave if they zits or even change their hair, eye, skin, cloths all in photoshop....but i cant seem to make some simple icons....lol again thanks for sharing these icons sets once i get my icon collection to 10k icons i will post em on my DEPOSITFILES.COM ( i wil only add yours to the upload with your permission only so if you don't want me to do so just let me no and i will take them off the add list) :nerd:

Hello everybody, great icons btw mate, really great, here's a question... emm maybe you've already answered it, or maybe it has no solution:
is there any way to put the icons into an installer, or does an installer for this packs exist?
Because I found very exhausting modifying the .dll's and if I change them with TuneUp , I see not all the system icons are shown to change.

These are just icon packs that I made to use with program of your choice, personally I use Restorator to edit my imagres.dll and shell32.dll directly, that way I can change the icons I want without having to rely on 3rd party software.

I've just been from page 1 thrugh page 12 and saw no indication of this info so, the Full Glass Purple Icon Pack seams to have some broken files in the package. The link itself seams fine, but when I unzip the folder most of the files are broken. A fix would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

PS, The download for the FullGlassPurple would not unpack all the way. WinRar says files corrupt. It appears all the PNG came out, but only a few of the ICO. Most of the ICO were just White squares??

Great thread Mark! All icon here are fantastic! But I personaly prefer use the installer because I don't know all the paths to edit the icons with Restorator.
