I have updated this theme a bit and made it to use with theme resources changer so you don't need to change any system files any more, I also borrowed a few bits from my Premium theme Poison and a couple of others to give some new life to this theme, I will keep the old versions here as well if anyone wants them, there is only one version for the new theme unlike the old one that had 3 variants, I think this version is more usable then the other 3 combined anyway so don't think it's needed.

There are 2 versions of this theme, Xtreme Red and Xtreme Red 2, the second one has a a few more black areas then the first like the taskmanager and other windows will be black instead of white, the only downside is that some web pages when using IE8 will be very dark although Firefox seems unaffected by that, the only other downside to some using the second theme will be things like Office which will have Black page colours instead of white, although there are probably options to change the page colour in those programs.

Both themes have been tested on X86 and X64 and I haven't seen any major problems, but if you do notice something please post a screen shot and let me know.

Please download the theme file attatched at the bottom of this post if your using Xtreme Red 2, found a problem using black as a window colour but changing the colour to #010101 fixes it, you will notice if you use winrar that the left pane has been changed to a very light colour when it was meant to be turned black, changing the colour to #010101 stops that happening and it turns back to black.

Very Important!!!

You must enable the use of custom themes by either patching your system with Universal Theme Patcher or use UxStyle Core which runs as a service, either way will have the same result but UxStyle Core does not change any system files and is also update proof.

To have your taskbar centered like in the image above.

All you need to do is unlock the taskbar and right click on it go to toolbars/add new, and them make a new folder somewhere and call it blank for example, then select that folder for your new toolbar.

You then need to right click on the new toolbar and select view text/title and deselect those 2 options now repeat all those steps(you can use the same blank folder again) and place the blank toolbars on either side of your main Taskbar group and slide the taskbar to a central position.

Once you have it where you want lock the taskbar again (note that it move a little when you lock the taskbar so some fine tuning may be needed), and now you have a centered Taskbar.

If you like you can also make the blank folder hidden to remove it from view.

Taskbar will not display blue bar if you have your options set to never combine.

Always combine, hide labels should be selected.

Also if you are using any extra Toolbars you need to make sure they are displaying small icons, but only if you have them all on a single row, if you have your taskbar expanded to 2 bars it will display normally again.

There is an option to restore the patched dll's but nothing is affected by having them patched, it just allows you to use custom themes.

Man, this Theme is awesome. I haven't put in the Start Button yet but I'll get around to it--it really completes the look of this Theme.

I wanted to ask: How did you get your Taskbar to look like that; with those little rises on each side? My clock area is red but I can't figure out how to bet those 2 cool looking rises in your post. I'm sure I'm overlooking something really simple but I can put my finger on it.

hey, i downloaded the theme files and patched the dll files. and placed it at C:\windows\resources\theme, and when i select the theme at personalize or double click the theme file, only my background changed and the theme change to window 7 basic, any help ? T_T

It look's as though you have done everything correctly provided you patched the system files correctly and then restarted your pc. The only other thing i can think of is are you sure you are trying to install

the right theme build for your windows 7 build (meaning x86 or x64) that's all i can think of someone else may be able to come up with a few other ideas though.

But as far as i remember those symptoms usually mean the system files are not patched I think.

and guess what, when i get to the logon screen, my screen is black, i can only see the button for me to shut down, the red button at the bottom right. Then there is a error message saying that SHELL32.DLL is missing or something, i tried window recovery with the window 7 CD but still doesnt work, i have to reinstall the whole window, i got kind of annoyed by that.... anyone know why?? and if its the icon pack's problem then please fix that asap, if not more people will have this problem...

First things first did you solve the other issue you had from a few post's up??

I can assure you the Icon Pack's/installers are not the problem as they have been well and truly tested and been in use for several months now.

And before I would reformat I would try this: Boot from your Win 7 disc, and choose repair install then get a command prompt up and type.

sfc /scannow

and see what results you get from that.

when this machine was hooked on x64 7600 i had the same prob..i used powertool,universal and even vistaglazz and non work..it seems those patcher didnt do there job for me untill now i have no idea why lol..so what i did i downloaded the dlls itself ( uxtheme.dll and themeui.dll
) and patched it manually and it worked..i tried looking for the site where i got those files from but the link to get the files doesnt work anymore :( ill try too look for an updated download site maybe it could help..or maybe if you know anyone that could provide/send ya those 3 files with the same build win7 that would be the easiest.

Try removing the theme completly from the themes folder , Re-download and put files in the right places and try again.

Make sure you add the files to the correct place C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
Tip to make this easyer in future is to make a shortcut of the Themes folder on your desktop for easy access.

I was going to ask if you cud look at the ieframe file , as i was aving trouble, But i think i may av cracked it.
This is done for x64, To use replace both systerm32 and sysWOW64 files (Remember to bak up file 1st)

Looking at your taskbar it seems to be set up right to have the middle bit so it's hard to understand why you still don't, the only thing I do notice about your screenshot is that the icons seem to be off set from the start orb, did you move them over like that using a blank toolbar or did that happen when you used the theme on it own?

Yeah I found a strange thing that happens when you have the window colour set to black it turns that pane to a Grey colour when it should be black like the rest of the window, you can download the theme file attached at the end of the first post to fix that problem, or just go into the advanced appearance settings and change the window colour to 01, 01, 01 and that way it will still apear black but you wont have the Grey colour that you see.

I really cant understand why yours would be different to everyone else and without being there it makes it very hard to figure out why it is that way, can you try a few different setting like small icons or try expanding your taskbar to 2 rows just to see if it changes anything?

If I could change that text colour I would but there are some text colours that I just cant find, the only thing I can suggest is that you go into the advanced appearance settings and change the 3D object colour which changes the colour of the background in those context menus to something lighter so the black text stands out.

That was not a problem, I decided to leave the control panel white because of problems with changing some of the text colours and some other areas.

I also noticed that you fixed an issue that seems to be a problem with some themes.

Some creators will include an Explorerframe.dll. You had 2. One for each folder SysWow64 and system32. Those who only offer one file, creates a problem. When you download from the net, you can't see the address bar to save files. This was not the case with your theme since you included 2 different files.

I posted this issue to Paulie in a PM because I had this issue with 2 themes.

Am I making sense??

Hmm.. I've simply reloaded the theme, apparently it was a mix of several themes (lol). So reloading just the Xtreme 2 worked :).

That's the explorer.exe you need to edit for the start buttons, glad to see you fixed it.

I don't quite get you? And yes I did patch all of 'em!

PS the start button changing was kind of hard, but i managed to do it :p.

Edit: Huh! I replaced those orbs, terminated explorer.exe and restarted it.. and the minimize buttons are normal now XD (or well theme normal :P ) !! No problems now! Ty for your great theme ;)

Or well the only problem is. the black backgrounding in opera xD

the theme is being displayed in basic, for some reason Aero is not working, you need to make sure the files were patch properly, try VistaGlazz, and make sure you do a restart.

I was wondering how you managed to change the color of files/folders Icon text that were clicked on to red for this one. I have looked everywhere and can't even find the correct thing to call it let alone how to do it. Would be very grateful for the info. The reason i ask is that alot of these darker themes make the text for files/folders Icons difficult to see and i would like to manually change them. Especially when using full glass.

I was wondering how you managed to change the color of files/folders Icon text that were clicked on to red for this one. I have looked everywhere and can't even find the correct thing to call it let alone how to do it. Would be very grateful for the info. The reason i ask is that alot of these darker themes make the text for files/folders Icons difficult to see and i would like to manually change them. Especially when using full glass.

I tried entering this on the run command, tried looking in explorer. tried system 32 all of it. and cant find anything even remotely close to this. I realize this may be a question you need to dumb way down in order to answer it, but i do appreciate it.

They are all locations in Windows Style Builder, but if you only want to change the Window Text colour then you an do that from the advanced appearance settings in the personalization color menu.

Hey Mr Grim when I try to apply the timedate.cpl or the explorer frame files, it always says the file is in use...

You need to take ownership of the originals and rename them .bak and then you can paste the new ones in.

This isn't a big deal for most but i mod the game Fallout 3 a lot and using the G.E.C.K. and Nifskope is impossible as the drop down menu's are black with black text :(.

Did you try using one of the other Xtreme Red themes like Xtreme Red Light or did you try changing any of the colours in the advanced appearance settings to see if they helped?

I didn't know there was a 'light' version, i tried using Xtreme Red 2 if thats the one you mean? As for advanced appearance i couldn't get anything to work without everything else looking strange... :(

EDIT I tried the Light version after searching and it's stil the same i tried to add a screenshot but not sure if it worked lol.

OK since installing the explorer.dll to change system clock and back for buttons i now have no folder options when i right click and save image or files! How do i revert everything back to normal and get rid of the Take Ownership file?

i am new to all this and spent hours changing everything i did get it to work one day, and the next it was all reset or something it was weird so i did all the changes again, changes included start orb, login screen, icons, and the extreme red theme. lets just hope it stays perm this time. My main ? is i know you did forward/backward buttons for explorer is there a way to add those red buttons into say firefox. Also i have changed my mouse cursor but everything i do it seems to reset every shutdown, any pointers for that also? thanks much already love the work

first off if u notice here everyone else can use the theme so the problem is not with the theme but with u. Do you really think how your talking and swearing that anyone will want to help you is that how u ask for help where ur from I don't think so considering I live in the same country.

If you can't apply them themes its because you don't have yor theme files patched to enable 3rd party themes simple as that. To insult Mr Grim or the site with the way u act is pitiful. I could easily help u fix this problem but I won't bother until u learn some manors first and learn how to ask nice.

The question should be why can everyone else use this theme and not you so if u want to swear do it to urself as u should know better.

Would be a great theme, but there are too many instances where I end up typing black on black. It may be better to just always use a gray font. There definitely needs to be more black and red themes though. Best combination in the world.

The problem is usually caused by fonts that can't be altered unfortunately. It's the curse of all dark themes.

You need a better graphics card to use this theme, one that will run your themes in Aero, at least a 512MB graphics card, dual core CPU and 2 gigs of ram.

Hello. I downloaded the "Explorer Frame x64" to match the Extreme Red 2 theme (which is sick btw). I installed it by pasting and overwriting the ExplorerFrame.dll in the C:\Windows|System32 folder on my W7 SP1. However, when I restarted Windows and logged on to my account I received a Explorer.exe error code and Windows was a black screen. No Start Menu, Toolbar or anything.... I backed up the original ExplorerFrame.dll and was able to overwrite yours with the original and now everythings okay. Just wanted to let ya know and see if there was a fix or something?

Found out the issue was that I installed it wrong! Found the SysWOW64 folder and installed it there, BUT the forward/back buttons are not red? Do I need to use that "VistaGlazz" to be able to use them? Thanks and sorry for the confusion..... :whistle:

I updated the first post with a new version of the theme, it uses theme resource changer to change most of the images in system files that were needed to change manually for the old themes, just put the theme in your themes folder and install theme resource changer and then apply the theme in your personalization menu :)

Extract the Xtreme Red zip folder, you will have an xtreme Red.msstyle file and a folder of the same name , drop them both into c/windows/resources/themes, then you can select the theme from your right click personalisation window :)

Open office and look in the settings and change the background color to a lighter color this is the only fix for that in office and is a known issue when using themes. you can also try switching to different theme when you need to use office

Nothing in the theme itself should cause that issue that I can think of. Did you install anything else like a 7tsp icon pack these are know to cause problems depending on what the packs contain. Most of the time we have seen with issues like this it caused by packs containing authi.dll in them

Hey mate...No problem....Just extract the zip and find the theme folder now open it .....you will see a folder and an other thingy that will have the theme name....
Now copy those 2 ......Ok now open my computer click on c then click and open windows folder scroll down to resources open there you will find 2 folders just past it to the themes folder ....close the window......right click on desktop scroll down to personalize click on that select your theme........

You will need to change the text colours here:

Lists, Menus, & Tabs > TreeView
Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Search Label (Unknown using outdated versions)

Remove the shadow properties here

Explorer & Shell > Explorer > TreeView > TreeItem

Also in other themes including my own can I use this same technique with them also to apply my own custom Icons instead of using like Icon Packager from StarDock? Lastly will this also work for the Drive Icons as well or do I need some other method to change them like using Icon Packager?

Most of those probably don't do anything but some of the icons are shown if your using Theme Resource Changer, like the help and view setting icons, I was just testing what ones changed, that's why they were all in that folder, there is no need to keep them though, just delete most of them unless they are changing some you want.

sir i installed the theme but it dint change a lot it just change the mouse pointer the wallpapaer and the theme bcame aero.. and some parts are glass.. i the the theme source changer installed on my pc. did i miss some thing?? pls need help newbie in win7 i really like the theme sir!
