There is a simple way to change the size of Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnails. If you find them to be a little to small for your liking, go ahead and make them bigger!

Open Regedit & navigate to the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ Taskband

In the RHS panel, create a DWORD value named MinThumbSizePx.

Right click MinThumbSizePx and select Modify. Set its decimal value to say, 300.

Exit the Registry Editor & Logoff > Logon.

You will now see that the taskbar thumbnail size has increased.

Additional Information

Similarly, you can tweak the following registry values under the "Taskband" registry branch, and customize the taskbar thumbnail previews as you need. Here is the entire list:

1.NumThumbnails
2.MinThumbSizePx
3.MaxThumbSizePx
4.TextHeightPx
5.TopMarginPx
6.LeftMarginPx
7.RightMarginPx
8.BottomMarginPx
9.ThumbSpacingXPx
10.ThumbSpacingYPx
