Love your setup there, that's a really nice case (what there is of it lol), just a shame about the dust, but your going to get that with any case so at least you have easy access to clean it :)

Case is the Lian - Li 343b,tubing is 1/2 ID 3/4 OD.

Thanks for the reply smokey, much appreciated
The cooler is a Aquacomputer cuplex XT di 478 / 775 Block for G1/8 fittings,i bought a pair of 1/8 to 1/4 converter for the block so i could use 1/4" compression fiitings.
As my board is AMD i also got a Cuplex XT to AM2 Conversion Kit for the block, the tubing is XSPC 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Blue/UV Blue tubing.

Thanks for looking

Here's my rig, hope you guys like!

Nothing too extreme or extravagant, for everyday use, all around multi media entertainment and regualr gaming only. Not planning on breaking any benchmark records.

This is one of the main reasons why I love Mr.GRiM's dark blue themes cause it totally matches my entire setup! :D

@ demonic

Cool, rig man!

Don't you find your Armor case heavy? Because I built a rig for a friend of mine a while back and he got me to build it on an Armor case. I think it's heavy because Thermaltake built it out of steel and not aluminum. I literally had to lift it with my legs to aviod any back injuries! lol

But anyways, that's a cool rig you got there dude, and good to see your first post on here!

demonic

@ Flava0ne

yeah it can be a bit heavy when moving it to give it a good clean out lol, i did look at the black armor case but it just did'nt look right to me.

thanks FlavaOne for liking it, i did think it may have been a little bit basic to the customs scene but hey i might be a little wrong lol

It'll deff be a noticeable difference in a performance boost if you do. I originally had 2 8800 Ultra's before I went to the 480's and now I can play GTA IV at a satisfactory FPS. You should do it up man! :) When I get paid tomorrow I'll donate some funds over to ya! ;)

Wow thanks bud that would great, I'm a bit short in the cash department at the moment lol, I have Black Ops and it plays pretty nice with the GTX260 but it does stutter a bit in multiplayer, especially when I in full servers and moving around fast, I like to run and gun so it can be a bit hard on the old GTX260 lol

that's a neat little water cooler, what temps are you running at with that?

rusl@n

I also like it is corsair hydro h70 worth $ 130 and keeps the temperature of 33 degrees on the CPU Phenom x4 970 and the noise level radiator of double thickness, and two size 120 mm fan with a speed of from 1600 to 2000 rev / min, in principle, a small :)

Kino, yes it is a US layout keyboard and everything on it works perfectly. Unfortunately, the manufacturer hasn't even released this keyboard yet. It's supposed to come out in September or sometime in the 3rd quarter of 2011. I got mine early because I know a friend that works for Roccat. It's a pretty sweet keyboard. And thanks for the comment!

Yeah I was lucky they only had two left and I jumped on it to get it. I do know there are US layout's of the Roccat Arvo keyboard which is pretty nice.

The lighting system is pretty awesome. There's six different shades of blue you can set it to. When the lights in my room are completely turned off, I can have my keyboard set to the lightest shade of blue and you can still see the letters perfectly. They did an awesome job with that keyboard.

I have to agree with this statement. Hiding cables is a nightmare with some builds! In fact I would say that it is the the hardest part of a beautiful rig. I would start with a nicer heat sink fan, and then hide the cables behind the backside cover! It is a little time consuming but it makes the overall pic look 80 times better!

Hi Toadyshadow101 I have an i7 2600k and I will be posting a tutorial shortly on overclocking it. I run mine at 4.7ghz everyday on just a coolermaster v6GT and believe it or not I benchmark it at 5.2ghz with the same setup. I believe the maximum multiplier setting for the 2600k is 60 depending on what motherboard you have so theoretically you can go to 6ghz and I think the world record is 6044ghz right now on that chip. Only a few simple steps to achieve a solid 4.5-5ghz on just air.

when a record is validated, the pc is not destined for a 24/7 use and .. often not stable. the record for the i7 990x is about 7ghz lol

its important to say that a record is JUST a record ^^ if your pc is not stable on prime95 = 10 hours .....

if you need 1.50/1.60v to run it at 4.5ghz .. you'll change it in 6 months maybe less lol

Well it doesn't always reduce the life of your CPU, mine is water cooled and runs at about 30c and 45c under load and that is allot better then what you get with the stock fan and cooler, heat is one of the biggest killers of CPU's and of course voltage, so as long as you can overclock without having to give it too much juice and you can keep it cool it shouldn't effect the life span at all.

Plus with all the recent CPU's you have an insane amount of multipliers, on my old dual core 9.5 is the highest you can go so the only other way to get a better clock is to increase the FSB, I am pretty happy with my rig though, I have 400mhz on the FSB which gives me a 1:1 ratio with my memory speed so everything is in sync

@archiver lol yeah I know what you mean. So many people just post a cpuz score and that is it. Most of the records are on liquid nitrogen anyways so definitely not for daily use :)
On my rig I am only running 1.325 volts to achieve a stable 4.7ghz and can run prime easily for 10 hours....:) I know I got lucky and got one of the good chips as far as 2600k goes. I only bump up to 1.5 when running 3dMark11 and other benchmarks such as Cinebench etc. I am definitely not looking to break any records lol although I have always entertained the idea of getting an LN2 block and insulation etc and a tech bench to try my hand at it although I never had that much money just to have such an expensive hobby. lol the missus already can't fathom why I spend so much money on GPU's :) and everything else in my rig.

the most important when you want oc a cpu its not the vcore but the temp° you will have with it, and when you touch the bclk that have a direct influence on the QPI/dram frequency, if you have an initial bclk at 133mhz i advice to change only the multiplier for up your cpu frequency and fix your QPI/dram freq and your ram timming/voltage too ;) and fix the pci-efreq at 101mhz

Remember when it was mentioned above about cable management? I'll be the first, and I'm sure not going to be the last to say that it is a form of art!! It takes a little extra time to make the inside of your case not look like a bunch of snakes escaped from the zoo!!:cheeky: A little cable management and your rig would look nice. I took a few pictures of one of my rigs (I have 6) so that you could see what cable management looked like. I told you that it takes a little bit of extra time, but it's worth it!! Please ignore the fact that it's a little dusty. I've got to get some more compressed air this weekend.

Yeah sometimes you have to do a little modding to get proper cable management unless you have a big case. Here is the last picture I took of mine. I will upload some newer ones since I have swapped out graphic cards for better ones since this was taken. I also like to sleeve all my cables the same color.

odinlives,
ultra nice cable management there!! I love the idea of keeping the cables all the same color! I just tend to use the color that came with the product, but now that I saw how fantastic your machine looks, I'm going to do the same thing when I add my new GPU to it!! I also noticed that you have the same case I do! That case is probably the best one I've owned. I hate cases with doors you have to open to use a drive only because it's too much hassle to deal with.lol ...Or that I don't like to deal with!

Nice build! I've read that with a little voltage change you can get that processor OC'ed to 4.9ghz. I'm thinking about my new build which I will start soon. I'm just not sure what processor I want to go with. I was looking at overclockers website and reading some reviews. At first I was interested in the AMD 8 core Bulldozer and it failed speed test in almost every category against the 980X (6 core) and the 2600k (quad core). What really amazed me was the 2600k beat the 980x in some area's and in the areas that it didn't beat it the numbers were still fine! I may just save myself 5 or 6 bills with such little comparison!

I would go w/ the 2600K, it's a very good processor and w/ a Asus Sabertooth P67 board they make an awsome build. I know other ppl who have taken the 2600K to 5.2+Ghz. I myself wont do that till I get a better cooler which Im using a thermaltake spinQ.

I would go with the 2600k as well. I already have a 2600k and run mine always at 4.7ghz on just a V6gt cooler. When I am benchmarking I bump mine up to 5.3ghz and it does really well. For the price you cant beat it. Beware of the 3930k 2011 chips. They are going through a lot of issues recently with the X79 chipset. Dang he blew the voltage regulator? Are you sure he didn't step up the voltage? Maybe he tried to set the voltage too high and that's what blew it? If the regulator notices voltages that are too high it will think that MOSFET has failed short and will turn off the drive signals or try to clamp the voltage to save an expensive CPU. Maybe he had a bad board, and it wasn't the chip. I'll read up on it a little, but thanks for the heads up!! I'll probably go with the 2600k anyway. I like the price for a processor that can hit 5+ ghz! So far what I've read on it is fantastic. I wanted to go with a 6 or 8 core processor, but the 2600k is pretty close to the speeds, so I don't see a reason to spend the extra money!!

That's surprising. Normally a chip manufacturer doesn't offer anything to an OC'er!! Rule of thumb if you OC your machine is the following:
1) never mention that you OC'ed your machine to any supplier.
2) never mention that you use an aftermarket Heat Sink Fan. Always retain the original just in case you need it!!

Looking at getting the Corsair H80 here soon.

Nice Heat Sink. I will probably get the same thing for my build. As far as getting another monitor, why don't you just get a nice KVM switch, then you can afford to get the H80!!

No this happened at stock clock and stock voltages. We have a site that all we do is buy and review hardware and this was the newest addition and everyone had such high hopes for the gigabyte UD7. Also since the bios is mature on all of the X79 boards I have been following they have had quite the fair share of issues even dead USB 3.0 ports. One good thing is that even Intel is releasing the C2 version of Processors and I know for a fact after that Gigabyte at least is releasing a Rev. 2 version of their X79 UD7 motherboard.

I remember a similar thing happened when I went with Sandy Bridge. I had to RMA my EVGA motherboard because it wouldn't overclock and their was a nightmare of BIOS issues but since then my board is 'golden'.

As for the H-80 we had it and honestly weren't that impressed with it. My coolermaster V6gt gets better temps than it does but still the H-80 isn't bad I'm just giving you my thought on it.

I've read that the water cooling is nice, but that the temps are not that much better and in some cases worst than an air cooled system with proper air circulation. Also a water cooled system is a lot more difficult to set up, then just simple "Arctic MX-2" (My preferred thermal paste), and mount....

odinlives (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/177549-odinlives), both the 2600k and the 2700k will oc to 5.0 to 5.1 completely stable with a 3rd party heatsink / fan. if you use water cooling they will run 5.5 to 5.6 stable. i've read a lot of the articles and know two peeps personally that have the 2600k at 5.0 24/7. i've played with both their systems, and they are the main reason i'm looking at the 2600k or 2700k instead of the new socket 2011 cpu's for my next build.

wow nofx1994 thats one low profile GFX card only 48 cuda cores can't wait to see the GFX card you will be upgrading to and 10sec's on boot is really fast mines like over a minute i was hoping for after a few upgrades to get it down to 45sec's but 10sec's wow

hi broh's :)

I have just finished building my 4 pc :) and it looks like this.
I have developed a cooling module for cooling water, as you see in the top left, the reason for this is to get fresh air directly to the radiator. (get a small intercooler efficiency)

Specs for my computer are:

ASUS M5A99X EVO, Socket-AM3 + Motherboard
Corsair AMD Phenom II 8GB Kit PC3-10666, 1333MHz, 4x240 DIMM DDR3 Ram
Phenom2 AMD X4 965 3.4 GHz, Quad Core, 8MB, 125W, Socket AM3 Black Edition clocked at 4 GHz
MSI ATI R5770 HAWK 875MHz Core 1GB GDDR5 4800MHz Memory Graphics Card
CoolIT VANTAGE A.L.C. CPU Cooler
Chieftec Nitro Series BPS-650C 650W PSU (think of and upgrade to 1000W)
Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl case

and a whole bunch of fans, I do not remember the name, hehe ..

@PARADOXMAX (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php?u=215220)
If you have never built your own system before i suggest you find a google video on building a computer m8ty. The case you are refering too is basicaly the same as any case out on the market. The way you install components into any case is the same. Other than with some cases things are in slightly different places and some allow for removal of cages that some items are stored in to make it easier to install other components.

For someone here to show you how to install into that particular case they would need to have that case in the first place. There is no easy way to just show you.

So the best thing you can do really is find a good video on building your own PC and watch it very carefuly. Pay special attention to any warnings in your manual as you go. Other than that find a friend who has done it all before a few times and knows what he is doing, then watch very closely. And have a go the next time. Or get him to guide you through the process.

If you find a video most wont give you the simple warnings like, Dont wear any items that can build static like wool, do not use a magnetic screwdriver (not as important now with new PC components, it was with old componets) so can use if new stuff, dont build it on the carpet make sure you use a desk, carpets produce static so wear shoes, silly i know but it can happen, your shuffling your feet on the carpet in your socks and spark, uve just ruined your MB. Some here may say "you dont need to worry about that i do it all the time like that", but trust me, if you are going to do it you may aswell do it correctly and observe those simple warnings, it can and does happen, not to everyone but it CAN and HAS happened to some.

Heres a video i found, wasnt the first i found but was one the the clearest ones, there may be some better out there and im sure there is but this is sufficient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQQ30QoF_-8
Hope it helps.

Decided that I might get a new case for all my new parts, maybe something a bit smaller, the Thermaltake Armour is not a bad case but it does not suit my needs any more and the case alone weighs 45KG compared to about 15KG for most other cases which would explain why it broke my shelf on my computer desk lol.

Only thing now is to decide on what case to get, if you guys have any suggestions I would like to see them lol

I am a new “Junior VC” of sorts.. and am so impressed with all the expertise and creativity in the field of digital graphics on this site.

I have built several.. many various systems in the past years… This latest one built almost 4 years ago..but just keep tweaking or adding pieces to it as necessary. It is probably a bit outdated for most of you “heavy duty” graphics techs but it still does everything I need it to do… that is… for the mean time.

Mother Board: Gigabyte supporting up to 4 SATA Drives as well as 2 IDE internal drives
CPU Intel(R) Core™ 2 Duo, E7300 2.66 GHz
Installed Memory(RAM): 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM
Monitors: 3 Monitors: 19” Widescreen/Left, 24” Widescreen/Centre, 18” Standard/Right: Supported by 2 Video Cards:
ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series, 1G, (PCI Express)- (Powers Left & Centre Monitor)
NVidia GeForce 1G (PCI) - (Powers Right Monitor)
SATA 150 PCI Raid Card - 2 Channel - Powering 2 additional internal mounted SATA Drives

Total 8 Internal Drives: 1-DVD/Burner(SATA), 3 SATA HD, 2 SATA HD (RAID) plus 2 IDE HD.
All in all, it is a good, reliable, stable machine with adequate speed for most applications.

Looking forward to reading the many many posts and viewing the graphical fabrications.
Thank-you for all your hard work and numerous hours spent in “creating”.

Thanks Bud Tho The i3 2130 Can't Be OC'ed And Overly Don't Run Very Hot It Would Be luck To Hit 50c lol So The Stock Cooler Is Just Fine  If I Was Going To Add Aftermarket Cooling I Would Go A Corsair H60

I Agree With bigcyco1 (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/156635-bigcyco1) Everyone Has There Preference's AMD Or Intel Is A Personal Choice I Choose ASUS Mobo's Because The Features There Mobo's Offer And There One Of The Top Mobo's Manufacturer's I Choose Nvidia Due To Feature They Offer As Well.

lol i love the H100 but my dad has that exact same case and he had to mod the case just to fit a H80 lol so the H60 is just because it's small but i3's don't need water lol don't get hot enough lmao there just babys compared to the i5 2500k and up lol

not really sure where your getting your facts from but you might want to check them again lol

Asus has been one of the top motherboard makers since pretty much the beginning of time lol

Any top 10 MOBO list you find your going to pretty much see ASUS in the top slot followed more then likely by MSI then followed by Gigabyte, gigabyte boards have been known to be pretty much a hit or miss when buying so in the end...

you should always trust 54899 :no1: lol

hehe yeah, i'm with you on this one bud, Gigabyte has some sweet Mobos, but ASUS has the specs :) i got the new M5A99X-EVO with UEFI Bios, its so sweet :D
and gigabyte has a policy to make cheep MB, but ASUS have both cheep and ridiculously expensive :D hehe

gigabyte is and always has been second to asus. asus is always the first with new tech and features, and asus mobo's are known for being probably the most durable out there.

A couple of these would probably do the trick (They also come with red or blue LEDs):

As you can see, My cable management has gotten a bit better since last time, And i finally got a new Motherboard. The Asus Maximus V Z77 ROG Board. So much happiness was had yesterday when it came in the mail And I Immediately began construction. Everything went perfectly. I didn't even have any issues with the OEM disk. The UEFI Bios is Great. I was able to pt a little more juice into my RAM and CPU in only a few minutes. i still need to run the Windows Eperience ndex so I know how my machine is stacking up on the ratings board. But I am confident I will have a good score. Oh and I got to put the little i7 and ROG badge on my computer. 'Twas a proud moment indeed. Project Adelaide is complete (minus the Modular power supply I want).

Glad your liking your new board bud
Those temps are pretty good.
I assume you also did a good cleaning of your cooler and fans also while you had it apart plus a new coat of thermal paste also helped in lowering those numbers a wee bit along with the new mobo.
It always amazes me after a few months of use on my system how just a good dust cleaning of my fans and cooler will lower my temps back down by 5 to 10 degrees

I ended up cutting the other side panel and putting a BIG Window. Tried to cover the wires up as much as possible or keep them as tight.
You think I should make a cover to cover the wires you see or does it look good? For the panel in back of motherboard.

Fall caused damage to ulnar nerve in the left hand so i don't have great feeling or control of the last two fingers.
Same fall broke the radius bone in the right hand and damaged the cartilage between the ulnar bone and the rest of the hand so basically bone is scraping against bone if i move it the wrong way.

Huge computer!
I was wondering what it would cost to build a top of the line computer by a professional like yourself.
I was thinking maybe $8000.00 in material, to sell for about $25,000.00. (Don't ask me how I came up with those numbers).
Anyway, What I found in my first search was..cost to build... $127,000.00. Unbelievable!

Updated pics with several new things I did to my rig, hope you guy like :cheeky:

I just built my new rig about a month ago, but only now finally got stable settings on my OC. OC'ing on an i7 setup is a whole lot different from my old Core 2 setup, a lot more stuff to mess around with.:cheeky:

Hey guys, here is my Rig set-up sketch that I made in like 10 minutes. Its not to scale or anything, but it is to give a rough idea to work with. It will feature a 34" x 34" corner desk, and the Xbox, computer, and sub will be sitting underneath. The surge protector will be attached to the bottom of the desk surface to provide the power switch with easy access. This is a word document, since I needed to insert text-boxes directly on top of my paint image.

One Man Army: Yeah, the email I got was about Mr Grim's new hud themes, that lead me to here :), allready thinking the blue will match nicely.

Harvey Swedin, Thanx mate, much appreciated.

Pats, thank you mate

Mr Grim, Thank you Sir, yeah took a few pieces off, grinded a few more lol, but it worked out :)

Lamia, thank you very much, I had a h80 before I did a custom loop and was very happy with it, its a great cpu cooler.

Built this system about 6 months ago and just went and redid some stuff. Just added a ex360 radiator, moved pump directly underneath the reservoir, painted armor plate for motherboard. still got more work to do.
