What the ... ?

Below is a picture of the top of my vertical taskbar (slightly enlarged for clarity) which I've been trying ideas out on. The image in Taskbar and Taskband are identical in every way and there are no margin settings or other properties attached to either. And yet Windows has rendered them totally differently suggesting that the sizing method in the taskbar and taskband sections aren't the same. Margins don't seem to have any effect at all in the taskbar section so I'm all out of ideas on how to make the two sections match. Anybody?

Well, I got it working. I think the problem may have been that I set a separate background for the clock although I'm not clear how that would have made the difference. Anyway, we live and learn!
