If you cannot find the “Find Now,” “Stop,” and “Clear All” buttons in the Group Policy Management Console snap-in on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 then you may want to apply this hotfix from Microsoft.

hotfix icon Fix: Find Now, Stop, Clear All buttons missing in Windows 7 GPMC

Lets say:

* You have a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 and you connect to a domain controller by using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) snap-in.
* You edit a Group Policy setting and configure the Item-level targeting option.
* You select Organizational Unit as the targeting item.
* You open the Find Custom Search dialog box to add an organizational unit (OU).

In this scenario, if you notice that the following buttons are missing on the Custom Search and Advanced tabs: Find Now, Stop & Clear All then you may have to apply Fix324135 from KB2258620.
