Facebook has improved on their security once again with the newly announced “One-Time Password” feature. This feature, when asked of it, creates a temporary password which can be used only once. The main reason behind this security feature is, you can use this temporary one time password on public computers etc. More secure isn’t it ?

Facebook has already introduced the security feature of recognizing your account through your computer name and gives access only when you login via your computer. Now if you are using a public computer, you will find this new security feature named “One time Password” very useful.

How does this One Time Password feature work ?

Users who need to obtain a disposable or temporary password, while on the go, need to simpy text “otp” and send to 32665. From there, Facebook will immediately reply via SMS with a temporary password that can only be used once. The temporary password is only valid for the first 20 minutes after receiving the text message from Facebook. In order to access this feature, you’ll need a mobile phone number in your accounts. This feature is apparently rolling out gradually to all users over the next few weeks.

Additionally, Facebook informs that the ability to log out remotely is now available to everyone.

These session controls can be useful if you log into Facebook from a friend’s phone or computer and then forget to sign out. It also explains that, it will regularly improve the security features of Facebook and users will be highly secured to access their account.
