If you have configured a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to use a shared network printer to print, and if you find that, on occasions, the print job intermittently fails, then you may want to apply this Hotfix from Microsoft.

hotfix icon Fix: Cannot use a shared network printer to print in Windows 7

When this issue occurs, you do not receive an error message on the client computer. And, the print job is not printed on the physical printer.

To recover the print functionality on the client computer temporarily, you can restart the Print Spooler service from Services.

To correct this issue you could visit KB2388142 and request for a Hotfix. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the above mentioning problem.

If you are not severely affected by this problem please wait for the update from Microsoft Update.
