List/map of image numbers to mod???

Is there a list or map of which image numbers correspond to which parts of the desktop?
I am trying to slightly tweak my destop theme -am I stuck searching through the many images????
What's the best way to go about this? I'm just trying to darken this and slightly alter that for personal use, etc., etc..
