It's time I stopped by to say hello. And it's time for me to start writing my own themes, instead of only installing other's work... so here I am to learn from the best!

Do I need anything? Well, a million dollars and a few supermodels in French maid's outfits would do nicely.

Alternatively, a list of recommended utilities/apps/programs for a beginning themer would suffice. Not too automated, as I wouldn't really learn enough; but not too stripped-down/basic as to be frustrating either.

LOL who wouldn't want that :p

Well for doing your own theme you would need Windows Style Builder, and an image editor such as Photoshop, Paint.net, GIMP etc.
Also, if yo wish to do dll editing for system files such as explorerframe.dll, shell32.dll and so on, a resource editor is needed. Restorator is one of the best in my opinion, but there are also free alternatives such as Resource Hacker

Here's a link to where you can purchase Windows Style Builder: http://vistastylebuilder.com/windows7.html

Cool. I've already got all of those, though my Photoshop is old (cs3)... I hope that is good enough. Thanks!

CS3 should be fine, I mainly use allot of blending options when making themes and I don't think those are any different in CS3
