The HUD RED theme is finally here and there are many new changes to the theme as well as a new red icon set to match, this theme is not just a simple recoulour, allot of the graphics were tweaked and redone to ensure that everything blended together to make a truly stunning theme, the same goes for the icons, every icon has been recreated and tweaked so that the reds are red and allot of the icons were designed again from scratch.

Every effort was made to make sure every part of this theme is fully usable and has been extensively tested to make sure you are getting the best product possible.

If you are not satisfied or find a problem that needs fixing please let me know and I will do my best to fix your problem.

The theme comes in 2 parts, you can purchase just the theme from the VC Shop, which comes with an easy to use installer that also includes a new logon screen and Theme Resource Changer to change the Start Button, Explorer navigation buttons and Control Panel Navigation panes.

The second part of the theme is posted here for free download and will require 7tsp to install, the second part of the theme includes all the icons, windows media player skin, Task Manager mod and many other changes.

(Please ensure you have restored all your system files before installing the new one and although 7tsp does create a restore point it's still probably best to manually create one yourself beforehand.)

When using the 7tsp installer with the theme extras it will not replace any system files, it will only add the modifications to your existing files and at the same time make backups of your files, so if you do have some mods already it should not effect those, unless one of the mods you have is one of the things listed above.

Theme Installs and the Theme Pack Extras were tested on my x86 VM and my main x64 Windows 7 Ultimate machine and both installed without any problems.

You must enable the use of custom themes by either patching your system with Universal Theme Patcher or use UxStyle Core which runs as a service, either way will have the same result but UxStyle Core does not change any system files and is also update proof.

If you install the 7tsp theme extras and find you have lost your sound or if you are using a Creative Sound Card you will need to use Restore on 7tsp and then remove the pack from 7tsp, then open the 7-zip archive and in the resource folder you will see shell32.dll.res, you need to delete that file and then repack the theme pack using 7-Zip again, then load it into 7tsp again and reinstall it.

For some reason Creative sound cards do not like any changes to the shell32.dll and there is no way to get around that, the only thing that you will miss out on will be a few icons and the copy delete animation mod, nothing major and you will still have a great experience without them.

Yes you can switch themes but the 7tsp packs will not change with the theme so what ever icons and extras you have will stay the same.

Hey guys I need your help yesterday I installed the red HUD folders and since I have such little quads. Here are the screen shots. I would like add folders blue HUD installed on my other computer 64-bit. I do not have this problem

Here is a tutorial to do it.

1. Open 7tsp
2. Select Restore
3. select the option "Locate a single system file and restore it to Windows 7 default"
4. locate the file you want to restore and select open
5. Wait till the Command Prompt opens and tells you that the files were successfully restored.
6. Restart to take effect

Are your DPI settings set to 100%, i have seen a similar problem when those settings are not set to 100%.

Bought it and this is a really sick looking theme.
However, I have some problems.
Since this is a dark theme, it changed a lot of themes to black-ish.
For example, the paper on Microsoft word is black, i can't change it.
Same thing on photoshop.
The chat box on gtalk is black.
Is there anyway I can fix it?
Another question is, some icons don't go with the theme.
Like gtalk icon... it's plain white so... how do I create icons for them?

i have a problem with the icon pack ( Setup Succs )

when i start ( some ) .exe files i get this Error ( A device attacked to the system is not functioning. windows 7 (64bit )

And in Action Center when i press on Change User Account Control setting and change to any thing in it and when i press ok no thing

happen and the start button and no thing appear in shutdown and restart etc.. hope u fix this problems^^ & thx for the themes

Hey Mr. Grim. I just want to say first that this is just stunning, breathtaking, and exotic...the red...gorgeous.

Unfortunately I do have a problem with the installation. Like a few people before me I cannot access my folders. Windows says that "Windows explorer" has failed, crashed and is restarting...everytime i try to open a folder.

The others who posted in the thread didn't really say how they fixed their problem...but I saw one person mention a 7tsp update...so I just updated my version and I'm about to re-patch the icons/etc

Yes, I had the original theme which I loved, but red is my favorite color.

Yes, I did use 7tsp to remove everything to install the red version.

What icon pack did you install, was it the topshell or the normal one and if you did install the topshell icon pack what version did you install, x86 or x64?

The top download on your post gave me the topshell, and that's the one I initially installed and I was getting the folder error.

Then I got the mirror of the icons that had ALL of the icons, etc.

I've cleared everything out again and I'm about to reinstall the theme again using the whole icon zip and see what happens.

Yea, I installed the full icon pack instead of the topshell and after uninstalling everything (including selecting "return ALL system files back to default" in 7tsp) it works.

Hey Mr. Grimm, I'm back again to ask a question on the process of the theme I've installed. You know the Aero Peek program where if you hover your mouse over an item on the taskbar, it will show a mini pop-up preview version?

For some reason, when I installed the red version of HUD, it's not working. When I go to properties of the taskbar, it does say Aero is selected and I actually can't deselect it...it's greyed out. I'm trying to research online to see if I can find anything to help, but can you shed any light on this? I'm trying to uninstall everything and start over right now.

When I first installed it, it wasn't working then at one point it was, and I don't recall exactly what I did or when it happened...but I left it alone. Recently I had to do a system restore and that just screwed everything up -.-

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i have gotten everything straightened out thanks to everyone's help, with the exception of that pesky windows start button... i even re-ran the download again and made sure i clicked yes on everything. i have patched and patched and patched some more. i have also opened access to the theme to windows, that is how i got rid of the classic windows. i am really starting to hate the windows start button. please help me find it and kill it.

for some reason I can't open the file for the aimp3 skin
Just checked the download everything seems ok for me
Use winrar or 7zip to extrac the skin files to a folder.
Then place the skin file in c/programs/aimp/skins folder.
Then select the skin from the program options menu once you have opened the aimp program.

Hello again guys, I'm still using HUD RED but I had to reformat my PC here and as I was reinstalling the theme I got one error in the unpacking process...

The fonts for the HUD theme are missing. On the install I follow the prompts for the login screen, start up tab, etc etc, and when it asks for the fonts I say 1 for yes again but it quickly posts lines of "could not find" (i couldn't read the rest, it was gone in a blink of an eye)

You can install the fonts by running the fonts.vbs file in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\HUD Red\Fonts

Great job here MrGRiM, quick question; For some reason my AV (N360) deletes this (and many other themes) at the moment they download. I know N360 sucks, but, to solve this issue... Suppose I disable it and then install... Wouldn't the AV once is enabled again recognize it and delete as well once is installed? Because if it did, it would be actually removing "IN USE" files... and that doesn't sound safe. Please advice sir. :worried:

You could always make an entry in your av exclusions list to whitelist it, then it wouldn't scan or delete the theme, this is what i'd try

If your talking about the system Icons. Then you need to simply install Grims HUD Red Icon pack you can find the most updated version here.... http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/59492-HUD-Machine-Series

Scroll down to the Free Icons and extra's installer chose the red one and run installer. You simply need to check the box to install icons, app icons. etc. Then you will be complete. If your using winrar. you can also find the winrar theme to match. Just do a search here for the winrar theme. I know its here. Hope this helps.

adjust system volume in taskbar not opening same for network status..tired to make a shortcut of the adjust audio thingy then i spammed it and gave me BSOD...wth is wrong with this skin pack?

Nothing is wrong with the pack. Im not sure what you did. Just run installer choose to install the icons app icons and anything else you want. When its done it will ask you to reboot your computer then. Your good to go. you should now have the full HUD red system icons and extra's. If your running into problems then just start over. open start menu run cmd and type...

SFC /scannow wait till its done and reboot. Then repatch your system using universal theme patcher and then run the icon installer again.

Well actually i restarted again and ran the extra stuff exe and installed again over it but at the end explorer closes and and task manager says installer is not responding...had to force explorer with task manager then it restart quickly....now..volume adjust opens etc...one last thing..what i need to do so it change the system clock too? :P

erm....nvm now adjust volume after a few mins in windows doesnt open anymore -_-' grrr....

using system restore alot of time to try to go back and install the extras again at the end same thing it just frooze and goes unresponsive...i let it like that for an hour then came back and nothing changed still not responding...gonna try to just install the app icons now...

If i were in your situation i would uninstall all customization tools on your pc and reinstall it again, that means:
1. run cmd as admin and run comand: sfc /scannow , after scan is finished restart pc,
2. Universal Theme Patcher - if you have x64 OS, first patch 3 files from x64 setup, then after restart patch 2 files from x32 or if you have x32 then only patch 2 files from x32 setup and restart your pc,
3. Theme Resource Changer - install x64 or x32 depends what OS you have.
4. Apply again your theme and it should work fine! :peace:

Thats a new one on me.I have windows 7 x64.I never had to patch it twice.I only had to patch the first 3 files,reboot and then i was done.Everything has always worked fine.I have had the same theme for bout 6 months now without any flaws.Is this something new that i should be aware of?

it may have been mistyped. i dont think the 32bit patcher would run on a 64bit OS, running it would give an error message
