Getting pretty exited at the moment about playing the beta, it's just turned 12am here on the 29th, hopefully I can get it soon, that's if they are going by country time and not just the US time.

Well I just got links from Bigond for the new beta

http://www.gamearena.com.au/downloads/DownloadFile.php?hmac=aaef46a5c0d814d97df9add12fd1e8d6b923efdd&id=61044&ts=1317279495
http://ga14.gamearena.com.au:3333/downloads/1317280027/Battlefield_3_Open_Beta.7z

0: First, you need Origin, EA's distribution platform. Download it here (http://www.origin.com/au/about).

1: Launch Origin.

2: Check your Origin settings (click the 'cog' icon near the top right of the Origin screen and select 'settings' from the drop-down menu).

3: In the settings, note the directory for 'downloaded games'. By default it is "C:\Program Files\Origin Games" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games" depending on the version of Windows you have.

4: Close Origin by clicking the cog icon and selecting 'exit' from the drop-down menu. You need to exit entirely, not just minimise the program.

5: Extract the archive contents to the directory you identified at step 3.

6: Once the extraction is complete, rename the 'Battlefield 3 Open Beta' directory to 'Battlefield 3 Beta' (if it's not already).

7: Check that the archive extracted properly. You should see a directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 Beta (or similar, depending on step 3) that has 6 files including bf3.exe and 4 sub-directories including Core and Data.

8: Start Origin and log in. You should now see Battlefield 3 as 'Ready to Install'. Click on that orange 'Ready to Install' button.

9: Done!

lol I wouldn't bet on it, the settings do not take effect until you restart the game and also this is still a beta (and a very buggy one at that) and the final game will most likely have allot of extra graphics added, there is no settings for dx11 added yet and pretty sure that card does not even support DX11 so there is no way your going to see the full detail in the game without it.

Yeah, I know, I restarted game after graphics settings ajdustments.. It run with ~30+fps, and ~50+ in metro scene..
And my card support DX11 (as all of ATI/AMD HD5XXX+) I know.. is weak for DX11, but is not so bad, more if I have overclocked (1000/1420)

I know, that You are fan of nvidia cards, but AMD isn't worse than nv and can "go on"

And few more screenshots

mr_grim, that's right ;) settings in beta versions are not final settings for the game

serie 5xxx support DX11 but not exploted on totality i see the difference with my cross of 5750 formula OC and my GTX580 sli on dirt 3 and another games

Well I changed all my settings to low on my GTX260 and now the game is much more playable, it doesn't look as nice, but at least now it doesn't seem as glitchy and I can get a better score, I really need to get myself a new card though as I want to enjoy this game fully, one thing that does bug me though is that you have to play using a browser and I prefer to disable as many things as I can when I play games and for me Firefox is one of the largest resource hogs I have going and uses on average about 500MB of my memory, I also want to be able set up all my games settings before I start playing and don't like that I have to pause in game to be able to change them, I hope they reconsider some of the decisions they have made with game before release but I think it's a bit late to be making any major changes now.

If I knew it was online only , I never would have downloaded it. I already removed it and all of the Firefox plugins.

just a precision for French download : for step 6 rename the directory folder to "Beta de Battlefield 3" and no "Battlefield 3 Beta" :)

Well it made me laugh downloaded the beta and went to install i have windows 7 pro amd 6000+ dual core and 2x gtx 460 thats 2 gig of
graphix and when i installed and went to play it told me my card was'nt supported so after jumping up and down a bit (a lot) i though sod
it and ignored the warning messages that pop up a few times and guess what the game runs sweet and on max settings. So in my honest
opinion this is just EA trying to get gamers to buy more expensive hardware and as Mr Grim says it works with his gtx 260.
