Im going to warn you right now OverClocking a PC that old you might Fry it.. Plus you need a Good Cooling System to keep it cold.

I mean your Computer is already Running Hot at 40°C Witch is like 104°F.

I have had my fair amount of experience with overclocking... it's never really a good thing on your system to overclock... it runs out the hardware alot faster than it should be... especially on a old pc like CrazySouthernBoy said... it could fry it... i don't recommend overclocking in general... if you want faster... just upgrade ur parts... it's not worth burning out a perfectly good CPU

yeah..not much can do with this single core PCs...i totally agreed with DaNinja although its now difficult to find parts for upgrading for that spec

You are correct but before you even attempt that you are going to need at least a Coolermaster V6GT or equivalent cooling system. You'd be better off getting a newer chip but if you really want to attempt this I can point you to a post I made, well better yet I will just copy and past my post into this thread and I suggest you read it thoroughly. I take no responsibility if you fry your chip though....lol

Things have changed a lot since I posted this and as of today I run an i7 2600k @4.8ghz 24/7 and contrary to what some might believe my CPU will not be burning out anytime soon because I have proper cooling etc etc and I watch my temps at all times. Anyway here you go mate: :( scratch that, I will have to post it somewhere else because it is over the character limit in a post. I will edit this and give you the link.

Ok here is a link I posted a guide here on our forum:
