I was wondering if anyone has any cool looking replacement bmp's for 632 and/or633 for Windows 7. I understand they have to be 200 x 551, so if anyone has any dark cool windows 7 replacements laying around that they'd like to share. I had a few of them before, but can't for the life of me find them. They had some small cool looking 7's in the middle pane. I'd really like to find them if anyone has copies or something similar.

Thanks you 2. This is exactly what I wanted, although I think I need a download link for The Archiver or do I just DL the Attachment the way it is?

I just wanted to mention some things here, first of all if you are using Theme Resource Changer you can use png images, these png images need to be named the same and be placed inside a folder called shell32.dll, that folder then needs to be placed in the same folder as your theme where your mssytles is located.

The dimensions for the images do not have to be the same as the originals when using them as a png although the width should remain the same the height can be increased to whatever you like so you could have an image 200x800 if you like, I would also like to point out that the 2 images used on the side panel are layerd, the top layer being image 632, this image is not resized at all so this means that if you make the window smaller it will not effect this image, image 633 is the background image, this image is resized and will change it's size to fit whatever screen size you set it to.

That is the most thorough explanation I've had on this and I'm very thankful for it. It never hurts to give good info like that. It expanded the way I can do things now with those. One question though. Do those shell 32.dll's need to be changed on both sys wow and sys 32 if I'm not using resource changer? I noticed that when I opened the shell 32 with resource hacker in the sys 32 folder that it still looks default even after you change it. Until I put it on my desktop and opened it then I could see the change. Strange the way that is.

If your going to do it in the shell32.dll system file then you only need to change it for the system32 folder but as you found out, you need to copy it to your desktop and then add your new images and save it, then rename the original and and add your new one back in, but I do not recommend this method as it has more chance of going wrong plus using Theme Resource Changer means that you can have different images for each theme you select and it will all change with the theme without you needing to do anything.

I just changed the 633 and it worked real nice. I did it with the TRC and put it in the theme folder. Now the 633 I used was dark but the image underneath you could still see the diagonal stripes so I added a 200 x 600 PNG to the same shell 32 folder and renamed it 632. When I restarted there was a black image that covered about 2thirds of 633. What I wanted was for the 632 black to be underneath the 633, but obviously It doesn't work that way. How do I get a dark image underneath the 633 so you can't see the diagonal light stripes. I put the 632 in the same folder as the 633, but the PNG's weren't the same size as far as kb's. Somewhere the compression must be different to make 2 images 200 x 600 be a different size in kb's. I don't know I'm asking Mark.

I did not know this would work with a black background> Very cool! I thought because it downloaded as a white background it would show as a white background. Does it ever look nice with the dark background. I'm starting to get the hang of these 632 and 633 images. Grim gave me a nice little tutorial on working with those and they really help a theme look good.

Hi,

I was just wondering if anybody could give me a few words of advice.
I can't seem to get the 635 Image to appear the one that says ALIENWARE in big red type.
I put it where it was supposed to go and I have the entire theme working except for that.
