does anyone have a quick tutorial for resizing the top of the windows explorer windows? in the image you will see explore open and next to that mpc. what i want to do is basically shrink the top of explorer so it's close to the height of the top of mpc.

The only way I know is to remove the Address bar,so it looks like this

51742

It's done with WSB
Taskbar,Headers and Rebar>Rebar>Basic>Base>Band-set content margins to 0,0,0,-30
Then if you run AeroBar http://www.askvg.com/aerobar-show-titlebar-text-in-explorer-windows-under-windows-vista/ to get the folder title and set your mouse up to have forward and back buttons and you will hardly miss the Address bar!

i don't want to get rid of the address bar i just want to get rid of some of the space above, and be low it. so it looks like the top image instead of the bottom image.

Hey chuckychild..if you have wsb maybe you can try this out...this setting will make your top small

Font & system metrics>captionbarwidth:size
captionbarheight:size
menubarwidth:size
menubarheight:size
padderborder set to 0

you can decreased those value but it waill also decreased your caption button size(min\max\close)

faizalotai (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/193868-faizalotai), o.k. an update. tried various changes to those settings in wsb and the only thing it did was make the buttons smaller like you said. i did notice that it is not a theme specific issue. i used androidism while i was playing with the settings and the top of explorer using androidism is just as tall. so i'm leaning towards the fact that what i need to change isn't found in the individual .msstyles file, but rather some file somewhere else that changes it system wide regardless of what theme i'm using.

Yeah..that setting will affects the caption button also..and yes,it just changed the msstyles of that theme that you are using...(if 10 theme so 10 editable msstyles)lol
i prefer your idea that changed windows system...maybe someone with registry editor coding knowledge could help

i think since this has to be done system wide i'm just going to copy the entire thread so far over to sevenforums.

I have had some time to play around with this too!
This is what I have so far
picture one is stock, the second one is adjusting it in Personalize>window color>advanced settings>active title bar-make the font size as small as possible then adjust the bar height.the last picture is using WSB-caption bar font size of 1,bar height of 4,then moving the address bar down to -6

Ya,that's right, the smaller the font size the smaller the bar will go.if you can somehow get a font size of 1 then the bar can be 4

Yeah you right and i think it is same here only with using wsb

I think the main issue is that when we make it smaller it affects other things, like the taskbar flyout window

I think that maybe the theme in your picture might have the address bar moved up a bit.The stock Content margin setting is 3 but I know in my themes I have used anywhere
from 6 to -5.Here's a shot of my tweaked version of everything I posted above combined. It's as small as I could get it.There's no Caption buttons but I don't mind cuz you can still access the Close menu by right clicking on the frame or from the taskbar.

gsw953 (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/178470-gsw953), it's not just with your theme i switched to the androidism theme while i edited the file in your theme, and even in the androidism theme i have the space below the address bar that you don't. i'll try again a little later playing with the adjustments again, and let you guys know if i got it or not.
