I have a 2 year old windows 7 professional 64x machine with an ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card(obviously 8gb of ram). I've installed the Uxtheme pack and Mr. Grimm's new HUD theme. My physical memory usage is at 22% where as is usually hovers in the single digits and when I attempt to play a video it stutters and drags horribly in full screen to the point where, if I can't fix it, I'm going to have to get rid of the theme....which I love. I hope somebody can help.

Thank You!

nothing from the pack or hud keeps running in the background. as for the themes the only items that continually run are the cursors, and i doubt they eat more than a few kilobytes of ram. now with that said did you run the universal theme patcher, and install resource changer before installing any 3rd party theme?

No I used UxStyle Core (http://www.uxstyle.com/) as my patcher, is that a problem? I didn't see anything about having to have resource changer installed.

If you have service pack 1 install several have had issues with uxstyle patcher try using universal theme patcher http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/29116-Universal-Theme-Patcher

I have a similar issue (w/Midnight Glass) and have read other posts here regarding poor sys. performance. However, I do not recall "install of resource changer BEFORE" installing the themes as a part of the theme install instructions. Did I miss something?

it depends on what theme you are running. some themes need resource changer and others don't. so the best one's to answer you about this are the theme creators.

95% of the new theme that are created today require the use of theme resource changer for them to work. Most of the older theme were not made with it because it had not been developed yet at the time the themes were made. All this program does is load the images into memory at start time and saves you form having to manually edit all your .dll, .cpl, and .exe's

I dont think it is the theme causing the slow down, i have the HUD themes in a Virtual Macine, that machine has 1gb of ram, and the theme works as fast as my real desktop.

I'm not sure but I think UxStyle Core is running as a service in background, without changing any system files. This could slow down your pc. As well the HUD Theme is really high quality so I think it will use much more RAM as the standard win7 theme (I think the main reason for that is, that Windows often uses very little graphics like 5x2px and scales them up, but if you want a nice looking windows graphics have to be much bigger so much more RAM is used).

i have to agree with Big V (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/155318-Big-V) i haven't used uxstyle since vista. i personally know depending on a persons settings / tweaks uxstyle can cause problems.
