my wifes acer quad core desktop with windows vista almost everytime she shuts down cp and turns it back on the date and time goes back to 2008 .so I tried synchronize the time and date through the server but can`t ,have to manually input time and date everytime this happens. also manually imput time and date through bios sometime it`ll last a week , 2 weeks or a month and sometimes when truning cp on only get a black screen then have to shut down with power button and start again. .could it be the battery on the mother board?or problem with vista? and would it be worth trying windows 7 on this cp? or is there something else I should try? thx in advanced.

I would Update the BIOS first. witch can be found at acer website.

checked voltage to battery 2.5v so I put new battery in since that voltage seems a bit low new battery is at 3.5v

I think they need to be 3v I could be wrong but you should just change it out since the computer is 4 years old.
