How To Install Rainmeter Skins
First, you have to download the newest version of rainmeter and install it.
Link: http://rainmeter.net/cms/
If rainmeter is installed, you have to download a rainmeter skin.
On this site there is a huge collection of rainmeter skins which can be found here:
http://virtualcustoms.net/forumdisplay.php/852-Rainmeter-Skins
on http://www.deviantart.com/ there is a huge collection, too.
Most skins are offered as ZIP-Archive. You have to extract the archive to
%UserProfile%\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins
Note: If you have a portable installation you have to extract it to C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Skins
Then you have to (re)start rainmeter and click on the tray icon of it. This window should be opened now:
54185
On the left site you can choose the skin you have downloaded (I'll use „BlueVision“):
54183
Then just click „Load“ and the skin appears on your desktop:
54184
After that you can move it by clicking on it and moving your mouse.
To modify a skin, make a rightclick on it and choose „Edit Skin“.
If the skin you have downloaded is a rmskin-file, you just have to make a doubleclick on it to install the skin.
Note: If you have a portable installation, the rmskin-fileformat is not assigned to the rainmeter skin installer, so you have to open it manually with this program:
C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\SkinInstaller.exe
OK, I hope that tutorial helped you, if you want to I can add a few tutorials about editing rainmeter skins...
Any feedback/critic is welcome!
