Yesterday, someone told me that when they apply wallpapers of high resolution on low resolution desktops or laptops (theirs was 1366x768), the wall becomes expanded to fit the low resolution screen, My advice would be to first of all set the Picture Position to Stretch (u can get there by going into personalize- Desktop Background-Picture Position) secondly the thing which seems to work all the time is opening the picture first in Windows photo viewer (I cant say much about other Viewers) right click on the image and set it as Desktop Background rather than right clicking on the file and setting it as Desktop Background, this way the picture wont become expanded.

U can resize the image but then the image would not look good, because if u resize, it will expand to fit your resolution.

Hope This Helps
Thanx
