Well, I built the "Red Storm" in 2011 and It has lived up to my initial vision....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Scout Build/8da6bc3d.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Scout Build/8da6bc3d.jpg)

But....Like everything else, it must be updated and revamped........

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/31986457.gif (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/31986457.gif)

Enter the new vision.........

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/16f809df.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/16f809df.jpg)

The theme will have to change as well as the color scheme....

Asus Sabertooth X990 mobo
Cooler Master V6gt
paracord sleeving
Crucial SSD M4 128gb
GSkill Ripjaws DDR3 8gb...the red heatspreaders have to change..
EVGA GTX 550 Ti
AMD Phenom X4 955 Black Edition

I'm thinking a Desert Cameo theme...inside and out
change the heatspreaders on the RAM to match the theme
side window will change....got some ideas..maybe LED lite edges...more on that later..
and maybe a few odds and ends....as it progresses....

Operation Sabertooth is underway.....Red Storm is being relocated to a undisclosed TrailerPark location......

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/0413444d.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/0413444d.jpg)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for ....Operation Sabertooth....

Removed all the components and separated the case parts.

Stripped and ready...

Let the painting begin....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/42e1bbd0.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/42e1bbd0.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/5c02683e.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/5c02683e.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/49dd2f99.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/49dd2f99.jpg)

Base color is set.....

Decided upon Digital Desert Camo......If i only knew just how much this was gonna be labor intensive....

Being cheap and wanting to it all myself, I went to:

Camouflage Paint Stencils (http://tacticalcamo.com/index.html)

and printed out my own stencils.....and the cutt'n begins!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/79e616a2.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/79e616a2.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/f3cec83b.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/f3cec83b.jpg)

this took me 3 days of cutt'n with an exacto.....but it was worth it coz It's unique!

Second color added over "cuts".......

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/cda0bd81.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/the Sabertooth/cda0bd81.jpg)

If you look, you can see the stencils under the second coat.

More to cut and another color or two to add!

Been a busy few days......

Having cut out 11 sheets of digi prints, time to use some...

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/8d7ebc04.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/8d7ebc04.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/c90d2c03.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/c90d2c03.jpg)

now for the 3rd color....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/380ac0f5.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/380ac0f5.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/901711e2.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/901711e2.jpg)

Hopefully I won't need a 4th color....will remove stencils when it dries and we'll see how it looks...

Off course....I bought my Ripjaws before I decided on a color scheme...so I need to fix them..

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/8278a11b.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/8278a11b.jpg)

more on that later.....gonna paint the heatspreaders.

Also started on the cable sleeving.....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/de4a2cb4.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/de4a2cb4.jpg)

Damn 24 pin is a TRUE pain ....using my customized pin remover!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/a19b5073.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/a19b5073.jpg)

Had to change all those pins from the Red Storm (red & black)......Military colors now!

I never relized just how BAD those 'ol heatshrinks looked....I'm embarrassed!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/016ad674.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/016ad674.jpg)

AS you can see....going with paracord and heatshrinkless connections....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/6566760d.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/6566760d.jpg)

That's all for now.....fingers are raw from those damn pins/connectors!!

OK......

The moment of truth.....time to peal all them stencils and pray.....

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/a6920ebd.jpg

I was worried that they might get stuck...waited a few days soz the paint would set.....BUT, no problems!
I was concerned @ the "Espresso" color, as it seemed a bit too dark and I was also concerned that I might not have used enough Large stencils on the first color "Fossil"......However, it worked out exactly like the vision I had in my rattled brain!

Imagine that!!!!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/35590cfa.jpg

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/648e86c5.jpg

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/5562ca9d.jpg

Of course, I'll have to wet sand it now to level the layers and gonna shoot it with a Satin Clearcoat......I had some overspray, as a couple stencils lifted on the edges (from the first layer).....BUT, you know what?......they sorta add depth and texture to the print......I might just leave them!!!...........OR NOT!

Also painted the heatspreaders on the RAM....

Had to do a little modding on the PSU...all the newly sleeved cables would not fit, so a slight change with a Dremel and ....they fit!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/c66c6b8f.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/c66c6b8f.jpg)

I found a build for the Noctua "ugly" fans...will fit right in with the Military theme....back case fan!

Next is cutting the new window and installing.......going with a clear/blank window, was gonna do some engraving and highlighting with LED's, but I'll save that idea for another build.....

This was the old window from the Red Storm...

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Scout Build/8da6bc3d.jpg (http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Scout Build/8da6bc3d.jpg)

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/7eb5ee4d.jpg

Found this in the Sabertooth box.....from ASUS......put it on my PSU cover, might not keep it, we'll see!

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/d008e4ee.jpg

And of course....the NOT so Fun Stuff....CABLES!..

http://i384.photobucket.com/albums/oo289/Trak186/Sabertooth/671b6ba0.jpg

Had to change on the go.....Case Feet had to be changed till I found a set that allowed the PSU to fit!....why do they come with large nuts ?....DON"T YOU DARE!.....You know what I mean!!!

and had to turn around the HDD rails and bend the stops down coz the Cover I made was too close to rail tabs.....
Minor things, but time consuming...

Tomorrow...

That case painting looks impressive mate, very nice. and the color you sprayed inside isn't one you see everyday, very unique. badass man

Was a little disorganized in the beginning.........finally got it settled down.........runn'n my SSD as the primary OS and major APPS............using my 500g WD HDD as my "User" drive, changed/regedited my files to load to it, saving my SSD for performance. Have installed some little used APPS also to HDD............

Will have to load things like MS Office and Photoshop later..........
Issues with my CM Storm Trigger keyboard...........might have to RMA that.......seems the sata cable is causing trouble....

All and all..........looking good, will run some tests this weekend.........post the results later..........

Honestly.....I don't keep tabs on my time invested.....BUT, I will say it will consume many hours and days in preparation, design and depending on your concept, EFFORT!

It's not how long it takes .........but how detailed you choose to be. I've seen some awesome Mods that required little time but the imagination was off the charts!!

TO ME...it's @ my vision...."what do I want to convey"......

However.......It's a total Blast and oodles of fun to build shit!...:cheeky:

Go for it......you just might enjoy it!

Looking good!!! I hope you used acryl based paint on the heatspreaders though, it´s the only kind of pain that won´t affect it´s heat-spreading abilities

Yeah but it's all about the mod. I see some good stuff but I also see just a lot of high end parts but no completed mod. I still have a couple things I am going to do to mine before the competition is over.
