I have been out of the web design loop for quite some time now, more than just a couple of years, unfortunately. To my dismay, I was very used to the WYSIWYG style of site designing that programs like Frontpage and some others provided. I am now trying to get back into designing, but have been unable to find anything that I am ultimately comfortable with. If anyone has some suggestions I am open to trying them. I can do some regular text based HTML coding, but do not particularly care for attempting to design entire sites in that manner. And thank you to everyone so far that has welcomed me to the site, and helped me along thus far. You have all been great.

Heya Toady,

Thanks for the advice, I have looked at Adobe Dreamweaver on Youtube, and actually like the way it looks. I however cannot afford that kind of cash at the moment. I'm also not sure what you meant by them having new licensing models with subscriptions. What exactly does that involve? Again, Thank You for your help, your advice has been very helpful and informative.:spin:

Dreamweaver is the way to go bud,

But this is a very complex program, but it is very self explainable too, this is one kickass powerfull program bud, and i think you are gonna like it :)
if there anything else we can i can help you with please dont hold back bud :)

my advice too you bud is to download a free html/css/php template from the net, and open the different files in dreamweaver.
wen i started learning css and stuff (a few years from now tho 8-10), i did it that way, and i learned alot form it to, thats the way i started, just read the source code, and looking at the different strings:) i now its booooooring too, hehe, but dont give up, you will get there:)

in a way you are not so far behind, cuz its just been released (well its maybe going on a year old now) a new coding language html5 and bud, deeeam its alot of new stuff :) so i have too sit down and freshen up my webskills soon too i think, in the near future :D

happy coding bud :)

Yeah if your say a student and enrolled in a course and provide proof you get a massive discount on buying it.

they have monthly subscription where you pay a monthly fee $19.99-$50 a month

worth checking out lol

Just keep in mind when coding, Over the past few years a lot has changed dramatically.
You have to be a lot more careful and sometimes code a lot of extra when it comes to cross browser compatibility and the design showing the same in most or all the most popular web browsers.

Ive seen a lot of people the last year use a lot of these new rounded border and granite tricks using css and they forget to make it compatible with IE.

I dont use Dreamweaver tho I own it from when I was in college, I got a discount and only paid $199 for it and the cs3 suite and then for 45 I was able to upgrade later to the cs4 suite.

Whats wrong with Dreamweaver lol i use it all the time its a great and very powerful tool  i use notepad++ also.

I have tried pritty much all the open-source freeware none of them cam close to Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver gets a bad name because of how advanced it is its functionality is overkill and most people can't understand how to use it hence why the trend towards instant builder apps.

eclipse is probably the next best to Dreamweaver probably more noob friendly. i have been using Dreamweaver since CS4 and im running cs6 and still learning.:peace:

I code everything from scratch. If Im working with a graphics template I create the template in cs4 then save for web and then code the rest myself.

Please, give me advice on my webdesign because many people criticize it and I don't know who to believe. Please give me honest feedback about the website and any suggestions of what could be done to make it better: http://under-the-open-sky.com (http://virtualcustoms.net/under-the-open-sky.com)

Just took a quick look at the site and can tell you it looks like it's gonna be some fun browsing. As for the design? Right off the bat I feel that the cartoon is waaay too obtrusive, takes up too much real estate, and looks very cartoonie . Personally. I'd go with reducing that real estate, and adding real life stills or video.
So there it is. You asked for it. ;)
