A little bit about the theme
I calling it beta because it is my first Windows 8 theme and I wasn't able to do my normal extra's this time.
Except for a clock-which is for 64 bit system's only.
Your system needs to be patched for 3rd party themes first
I'm using this patcher Windows 8 Ultra UXTheme Patcher - WinMatrix (http://www.winmatrix.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35038-windows-8-ultra-uxtheme-patcher/)
There is other patchers available but they are known to cause issues when some other customizing softwares are also being used.


The theme it's self uses a modified version of Mr.Grim's Equinox (http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/47795-Equinox-Beta-1) msstyle,so if you have the extra's for that
theme installed things like the Control Panel images will change automatically when you switch to this theme.


There is no installer for this theme so you will have to copy the g8 beta folder and g8 beta.theme file to
your Windows Resources\Themes folder.
To change the clock navigate to Windows\System32 and find your timedate.cpl.Take full conrtol of this file and rename.
Then copy the new custom one I provided over.You will either have to restart Explorer or sign out before the clock will change.

The Start Menu is StartIsBack (http://www.startisback.com/),the one from Stardock isn't 100% themeable
The icons used in the screenshots are Token by ~brsev on deviantART (http://brsev.deviantart.com/art/Token-128429570)
And were applied using a combination of IconPackager and manually changing them.
The wallpaper is from here Windows 8 Wallpapers (http://latest-windows-8-wallpapers.blogspot.ca/)
The Rainmeter skins in the preview are My Stock Meters and Peeled by me

Great work mate, this is a nice alternative to the High contrast themes, by the way Windows 8 themes can run with high contrast enabled by adding it to the .theme file.

Dude, this theme is beautiful! I really love it, I can't stand bright UI's and using High Contrast (what I'm doing now) is ugly and irritating.

I have two suggestions I'd like you to consider.

1. Could you change the button text? That blue is gorgeous but white on blue is not so visible.
2. Is there a way to skin the tabs? In the first screenshot, the tabs in the folder properties dialog are hard to tell apart which is selected/unselected (General, Sharing etc;) Perhaps a blue line at the top or something to indicate the selected tab would work?

Otherwise it's stunning, keep up the good work!

I have also installed all of MrGrim's modded system files from Equinox Beta1 and I had already purchased Start8 instead of StartIsBack but after testing Start8 myself & MrGrim explaining to me why Start8 doesn't work properly my inner "tightwad" shelled out another 3 bucks for StartIsBack and also I missed Patching the System Properties Logo the first time around but now I have everything working correctly (Crosses Fingers):laughing:.

I have also installed all of MrGrim's modded system files from Equinox Beta1 and I had already purchased Start8 instead of StartIsBack but if I use the "Windows 7 Solid Theme" from Start8 I get a totally transparent Start Menu except for the All Programs menu and the Menus on the right side are truncated.

Sorry to say this but Start8 is no good for use with themes, they have modified the way the start menu is rendered, early builds were more promising as it looked like the standard start menu but they were pressured into making it squared to fit with Windows 8 so this has made custom themes a no go in the traditional manner, I have seen some fairly good results but not using the default start menu images.

No problem MrGrim I will just have to bite the bullet & buy StartIsBack and scrap Start8, It's not much different than getting "Hoodwinked" purchasing Apps from the M$ Store.

I also noticed after my earlier post when switching to your Equinox theme and using all but one of the start8 themes that the whole start menu turns completely white with no text when attempting to hover over it.

hey man I got a little issue, the theme works great, but when I logon on windows after shutdown some areas like notepad or office text area that should be black appear in white, so I have to change the theme again and the issue is gone, but I would like to have that fix without change the theme anytime I log on windows thnx :Smug:

I have also had this happen, only when the computer is hard reset or shutdown incorrectly, it also happens if you use sleep or lock, I just did a bit of testing and I found if you do use sleep instead of shut down then disable require password on wake and you don't get that problem, other then that using the full shutdown causes no problems at all for me but it is annoying and sadly I think it's a Windows 8 problem that probably will not be fixed, on a plus side this will not effect light themes as it is only the window and window text colours that are effected.

Here is a update on the AIMP3 Skin I've been working on to go with this theme. I still have a few thing i need to fix. I need to get a volume and seek bar up there. Then i need to do the mini player after this is done. As for the colors and I think its set to where it works well with your theme GSW. 59771

Thanks for the amazing theme!

Yesterday, I installed it and it worked fine. However, today after I applied all the new updates, the theme doesn't work anymore. Do I have to repatch the files or not? If I have to repatch them, will they be the ones that are outdated since Windows has updated them or not? Thanks :)
