I installed Grim's Icon Pack that changes the folder icons in Windows 7 using the installer. With the pack comes an uninstaller command so you can change back to the default icons and delete the backups. It is a must to run the uninstall and cleanup command if you want to install again or install something else. I ran the uninstall cmd today and it ran ok because when I tried to run it again it said it would only run if it was installed so it wouldn't run a second time, which means it must have worked the first time but the installed icons must not have got the message because they are still installed. The icons are from Grims icon pack and they always worked fine before all across the board. I even ran the cleanup cmd and everything prompts like it worked, but the folders are still there. I was wondering if someone knows how I can get the Windows folder icons back to default without a reformat?

did yah try clearing yah icon cache? see if that helps.if that doesnt help try doing an sfc/scannow. If yah dont know how to clear yah icon cache manually here is how.

The file name is “IconCache.db” and can be found at the following location:
C:\Users\[insertyourusername]\AppData\Local
So, basically just open the folder above, make a copy of the file IconCache.db and delete the original one. Now restart your PC or end the process explorer.exe and restart it again.

hope this helps.let us know how yah make out :)
