Thanks for letting me know,could you be more specific,I only have windows 7 installed on VMware and I am not seeing anything,even on a solid white background.

Oh that,the reason I didn't see it is because I always have "Animations in taskbar and Start Menu"
unchecked in Advanced\Performance Options\Visual Effects.
So I guess that would be one solution.
It is caused by me making the Start Menu width smaller,
so the other solution I know would be if I returned the Start Menu to it's stock width
which would make it about 60 pixels wider.
If anyone has a better solution for having a smaller width Start Menu without that ghost image appearing for a half second,
that would be great! I'm open to suggestions
