hello all, this is not really a problem, i am just wondering if there's a way to show PSD's as thumbnails on windows without the use of adobe bridge or any 3rd party software. just a simple registry trick of some sort like adding psd to the list of thumbs supported maybe? does anyone know how to or has attempted to do something like this? thanks.

update 8-27-14: i actually found an app for this problem. its called PICTUS. i found it browsing thru CNET.
i have it for thumbnailing PSDs for win7 and viewing gifs since the default photo viewer doesnt support animation.
heres a link for anyone who could use it. and its also free so no trials or activations.

Download the file,
Copy psicon.dll to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell – if this folder doesn’t exist create it
Run Adobe.reg
Log off your comp. You now can view PSD files in Thumbnails view within Windows Explorer.
By the way I found it here:http://www.josh.biz/technical-notes/view-thumbnail-images-for-photoshop-psd-files-in-windows/

was about to say that was the only thing that worked for me too. tried fastpictureviewer, didnt work , dont seem to work on a 64 bit according to others. mystic coder on the other hand has conflict issues with corel. its 3rd party still though but oh well it'll do. thanks for the help yall.

MYSTIC THUMBS worked here's the link to it if anybody wants it. it says free but i seen a version of it that is being paid for so i dont know if this is the trial or not (doesnt say trial though) hopefully it is not. and since it works already just dont attempt to update it i guess. just saying - get it here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/j0570x5sec6rptz/MT.exe)

---------------------------------*its a 1 month trial - 25$ to purchase

here is a FREE one to those interested. if anyone wants psd's to show up as thumbnails in windows. i am currently using it, it has no extra capabilities like in mystic thumbs (thats probably why it wasnt free) it will just show psd's and 18 other files as thumbnails in windows explorer that is all u will get from this lite version which i have installed on a 64bit win7. grab it if u want it :)

download thumbsview lite here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/y796rsmpmeam3ac/TV_LITE1.0.exe)
edit* - i was wrong yet again. i thought it worked but i uninstalled mystic thumbs but did not restart, i thought it was thumbsview that was doing it but i was wrong once i restarted no more thumbs. this thing is ******** me off http://virtualcustoms.net/images/smilies/lol.gif. apologies everyone but thumbsview , after some research i found out it only works on XP not on 7. http://virtualcustoms.net/images/smilies/37490.gif i give up . im going to bed and pretend all of this never happened

most wasted sry I missed this post but I had a fix for this posted years ago here it's mystic thumbs when it was still a free version before they went to a paid version a year or so after win 7 came out.

it comes in both x86 and x64 versions I have had it posted here for a long while http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/40786-MysticThumbs-View-Psd-s-AEP-AI-files-in-windows-explorer

these are the last free versions they don't work for windows 8 but 7 they work perfect.

If your looking for a nice easy way to view gifs and such on win 7 Irfan View is an amazing free app that does a lot more then view gifs http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/29151-IrfanView-PlugIns-4-27-silent-installer
