intel especially with the i5's and i7's. mainly cause the mobo chipsets are more integrated.

I started with AMD too but now I stick with Intel i3i5/i7 and Gigabyte mobos because I use Hackintosh/MACOS too. :)

I consider AMD FX series to be a good alternative to i3 / weaker i5, but truth is Inter is really the better choice if you have some excess money to spend on the CPU.
I've had Intel CPUs of almost every generation before i3/i5/i7, but now I have AMD. (Though I've had an Athlon64 3200+ back in the day, too)
Never had a problem with any products besides Celeron, but I consider pretty hard which CPU I'm buying and what I'll be using it for.

ive just started looking round for a new processor and mobo. this one is almost 2 years old now i think so time for an upgrade. im kinda drooling over the AMD piledriver series atm. particularly this one:-

AMD FX 9590 4.7GHz Socket AM3+ 8MB L3 Cache Product DescriptionSpecifications

8 Core Technology
4.70GHz Clock Speed
5.2 GT/s System Bus
Socket AMD AM3+
8MB L2 Cache
8MB L3 Cache
64-Bit Technology
220W TDP
32nm technology

seriously....just how sexy are those specs? ;)

They indeed are sexy, but for games, it has very much catching up to do to even get close to weaker i7s.
