Some of you may know about this release already, but I thought it might be useful to post the info and link here, in the 'Customization Tools' section, regarding this cool tool for 7 and 8.1.

I actually can't believe no one has posted this news here at VC yet!

CustomizerGod is the ultimate tool for customizing Windows. It will completely change your customization experience forever.

Now, even total noobs can edit Windows system-files with ease!

Changing Resources:

First click and navigate the tabs in the left-hand pane and find what you want to change.

To change a single resource:

Click the resource in the right-hand pane.

Click Change.

Browse for the new resource and click Open. You can open any .png, .jpg, .ico, .gif or .bmp file and the file will be automatically converted to the required format.

To change multiple resources at once:

Select multiple resources by holding the Ctrl or Shift key. To select all resources, click anywhere in the right-hand pane and press Ctrl + A.

Click Change.

Browse for a directory containing the new resources in .png, .jpg, .ico, .gif or .bmp format. The filenames of the new resources should be the IDs of the resources (optionally starting with the # character, like #123.bmp). Move your mouse cursor (hover) over any resource in the right-hand pane to find its ID (if a resource has multiple IDs, use the first one).

Restoring Resources:

Just select the resources you want to restore in the right-hand pane and click Restore.

Customizing Other System & 3rd-Party Files:

Press Ctrl + O, browse for the new file and click Open.

CustomizerGod will list all the bitmaps and icons embedded in the file. When you open any file, a .backup file will be saved in the directory of the original file. Don't delete it until the app is closed.

Shortcuts & Advanced Options:

Click the little arrow in the bottom right corner to expand the window with more options. Hover over any option to find out what it does.

http://i0.wp.com/www.door2windows.com/files/customizergod/63/Stash.png

Resource Preview:

Double-click any resource in the right-hand pane to preview all versions of itself. Hover over any image to find out its dimensions.

http://i0.wp.com/www.door2windows.com/files/customizergod/61/ResourcePreview.png

Converting 3rd Party Resources:

http://i0.wp.com/www.door2windows.com/files/customizergod/ResourcesConverter.png

CustomizerGod comes with a Resource Converter which can extract/rename existing 3rd party resources for use with CustomizerGod.

Rename ResHack RC File Resources: Open a .rc file saved by Resource Hacker and the resources saved along with it will be renamed to CustomizerGod-supported names.
Extract Resources from RES File: Open a .res file and all embedded resources will be extracted with proper names to the directory of the .res file.
Extract Resources from iPack: Open an iPack .exe and all embedded resources will be extracted with proper names to the directory of the iPack. This is not just limited to iPacks, you can also use this option to extract resources from .exe files that have .res files embedded in them.

CLICK HERE FOR DOWNLOAD AND MORE INFO (http://www.door2windows.com/customizergod/)

To avoid having to download a "setup" file asking you to install crap-ware, press "cancel" on the download page, scroll to the bottom to download the .zip file which contains the stand-alone program:

I took a quick look the last time you mentioned this. It really looks like a handy easy-to-use tool.
It's great if you just want to change some system icons.
Thanks for the share again, almost forgot about this tool

You can do a LOT more with it than changing some system-icons, bro. You can open almost anything with it (including .exe), and edit practically every image. It does have limitations, though, like errors for certain files and no way to edit code, but it's great for most files that you just want to edit the images.

Thanks for recommending this tool. I was able to change some system icons I wasn't sure how to before now. However, I was getting the message that I did not have ownership for changing the icons for some system32 .dll files. So, as a workaround, the Winaero TakeOwnershipEx tool worked really well. It can be found at http://winaero.com/download.php?view.16. I think this will be useful for changing .cpl files easily as well.

TakeOwnershipEx is a great tool, I've been using it for quite a while. I recommended it a week ago to a fellow (Terrapin2190, who was having issues with timedate.cpl) in this thread (post #5): http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/69110-timedate-cpl-Tools

The only system-files CustomizerGod will throw any flags at you about, in 8.1, is shell32.dll. Because editing that file breaks the digital signature in 8+ and will render your computer un-bootable.

DO NOT COPY THE TIMEDATE.CPL FROM SYSTEM32 TO SYSWOW64, OR VICE-VERSA! Each file is coded differently and can't be crossed one-with-the-other. If you're going to edit your timedate.cpl manually, you'll have to do each one separately, careful to edit and then replace them into the folder (System32 or SysWOW64) that they came from. Yes, in 64-bit versions of Windows 7, both timedates need to be edited. Not so in 32-bit versions of 7; in 32-bit versions of 7, only the timedate.cpl in System32 needs to be edited.

If you want to change your timedate.cpl using CustomizerGod, there's no need to mess with System32 or SysWOW64. Just have your timedate images somewhere, like on your desk or in a folder, open the program, find "Time & Date" in the left column of CustomizerGod, replace the images to the right with your custom ones. If you float your cursor over each image (or better yet double-click the image), the program tells/shows you which corresponding timedate .png numbers that will be replaced with your edits; just use the correct replacements. The program will automatically patch both timedate.cpl files, the one in System32 and the one in SysWOW64 (for 64-bit versions of Win 7), for you. You could them copy your 2 timedate.cpl files for backups or to share if you want.

Example of clicking timedate image displayed in the ui:

So it's a mini Restorator, nice, I'll try it out on my laptop first. See how it does with system icons and programs.

Yea, kinda-sorta, but without the ability to edit code. For that, Restorator or Reshacker or one of the others are still needed. I wish he'd add the ability to edit code. I also wish he'd add the option to un-group certain images, like those in timedate.cpl, you know, display each image---all 12---instead of in groups. But, with those types of images, I think you still just import all of your custom images into the group and the program puts them into the spot they need to be in. In Windows 64-bit, it edits both timedate.cpl files, the one in Sys32 and SysWOW, so that's cool, saves some time, saves some errors that some people have too.

Is this compatible with already patched 7tsp icon packs?

You mean like using CustomizerGod to view/edit a sealed 7tsp icon-pack? Don't think so.

No I mean if you're using a 7tsp icon pack already and will use CustomizerGod, will it override the 7tsp icons?

Now that you mention it, the program doesn't seem to change icons in imageres.dll (at least in 8.1, the o.s. I'm running atm) that have already been modified with 7tsp. It changes the ones not modified, though. Hmmm. I wonder if there's a way around it. I already tried copying the 2 imageres.dlls from System32 and SysWOW64 to 2 folders on my desktop and modifying those, but with the same results.....
That sucks. The dev ought to fix that bug, gonna email him.

I guess it's not meant to run with any other patches, just unmodified system files.
I've tested it on my laptop(without 7tsp) and it works nice, easy to use and changes everything.

Yeah I tried running a scan on two different machines(Microsoft Essentials and Kaspersky) both just stopped during the scan.
The installer is filled with ads and install a different homepage, even if you tick the setting off.
Hope that's all it does..

Most a.v. will flag almost all programs that modify system-files, bud. Doesn't necessarily mean the program is dangerous. You just have to know what you're installing, and how to whitelist the program. False-positives and alerts are common with customization-tools because they do exhibit trojan-like behavior. After all, many run with Admin privileges, temporarily disable the explorer.exe process, and then inject images & code into digitally-signed system-files.

The main thing you want to look for with unfamiliar customization-tools is viruses and worms. Scanning/sandboxing the software is a good practice, but you have to be a little tech-savvy to spot any actual nasties while allowing the behavior of friendly custo-tools.

To both you guys (A Guy and Harvey Sewdin): You can skip the 'installer', with its crapware, by pressing "cancel" on the download-page and scrolling to the bottom to download the .zip file which contains only the stand-alone program:

I chose 'custom' install, unchecking and skipping the crap-ware, and none of it got installed on my system. To be sure, I opened my YourUninstaller! to make sure. Almost all software tries to get you to install extra crappage and toolbars these days. I hate that, too, but I guess they gotta make a living. I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, and, as far as I know, there are no nasties within the setup.

Did that, but still installed the damn addons.
Not too bad though, removed the homepage and other crap myself.
So far it runs fine.

Yeah, I'm more then aware that programs of this type will be flagged. That's why I said "based on it's behavior". I didn't say it was dangerous, more a heads up to expect your AV might alert on it ;)

I've been messing around with this program a bit. Well, it works just as advertised. I really like it so far, especially since I usually don't bother with all icons, just a few.
This is one of my standard theming tools now hah..

It's a shame that so many softwares are so hard-up for money that they try to push all these damned toolbars and happy assed search pages on ya. Old people, and people who aren't the least bit computer or tech savvy never know WHAT they're installing when they click 'agree' or 'next'. I clean my father-in-law's computer (he's 81) every so often for him, uninstalling stuff, etc., and it's a thousand wonders that his bank account has any money in it, with all the spyware and other toolbars and crap he winds up having installed. And some of them are so slick that even I wind up getting something I don't want every now and then.

At least door2windows allows you to get the .zip without fooling with the 'downloader'.....but they ought to be more transparent about it, have the Download Zip button on the top of the page, sneaky boogers. But then, that's how they make money.....
