I'm having a problem on my PC. Something called Ads by SOSA seems to be on it and I can't figure out where it is or how to remove it. It keeps making tons of popups on my PC, interfering with all of my browsers. Popup blockers won't block it. And it isn't showing up in my add/remove programs area. Please hep me remove this annoying Ads by SOSA crap because it's really pissing me off.

Your PC is infected ....

Try this:

1.- Download Malwarebytes Antimalware (https://es.malwarebytes.org/)
Scan your pc, mark all problems and send them to quarantine. You'll probably be asked to restart, so do it
2.- Download Adw Cleaner (https://www.infospyware.com/antispyware/adwcleaner/) and run it as Administrator (right click). Click "Scan" ... clean (limpiar). Save your work, 'cause all programs in your pc will close. Restart your pc. After restart a report will open. At the program top you'll see "tools": there you can restore false positives. If you've got nothing to restore, then click "leave" (Salir). Now you must uninstall Adware Cleaner.
All instructions are here (http://www.forospyware.com/t489991.html)
.- Finally, download CCleaner (http://www.filehippo.com/es/download_ccleaner) latest version, and click on "Cleaner" and Registry

If I were you, I'll also remove my browsers and reinstall them after restar my pc ...

In the future, be careful with links on web ... Have good luck!!

Great advice "Erin".I have all three of the software you mentioned.I use them on a regular basis along with a few others.I would point out however NOT to use the registry cleaner in Ccleaner unless you ABSOLUTELY know what you are doing.Sometimes they can cause more harm then good. But if your tech savy and you know what to look for,go for it.I also use TDSSKiller to search out for root kits, process explorer and process monitor to look for rogue programs running in the background.Autoruns for hidden start up programs and reg scanner to manually look for any software leftovers in the registry and "everything search" for left overs in my computer. With these tools and a couple others i have not mentioned,it keeps my computer running awesome! Thanks again for your post :)

Of course  All these tools need careful handling, and we need to check every file before erase something ... or be careful to save files if we have any doubts about them ... It's all about common sense ...

Thans to you, AlphaOmega :peace:!!

Got pissed and reset to factory defaults. But I'll definately have to remems this method, lol. The one I found about booting into safe mode and removing it via regedit didn't work lol. I went to boot to safe mode and apparently my computer wouldn't boot at all, lol. had no choice but to run factory reset thanks to that crap, lol. If this crap gets on my pc again I'll defintely use this method. Thanks for the info. :peace:

that sux.I would download malwarebytes after a fresh install, and Ccleaner.Of course malwarebytes only protects you if you have the premium version i think (correct me if im wrong). However,i only use the manual scanner myself.Just a little of friendly advice on the side....Avoid messing around with the registry unless you are tech savvy and know exactley what you are doing.can get you into trouble my friend.

malwarebytes works just regardless of what version you have. i avoid their version with antivirus built in. i recommend a security suite of just a firewall and antivirus(mine is bitdefender internet security 2015), the other JUNK that come with them aren't really needed. malwarebytes of course. winpatrol or something similar. ccleaner pro. and of course ablockplus or adblockedge for ALL your browsers.

No money for the pro version of ccleaner, but i use the free version anyways. as for antivirus, does Comodo work well or is there a better free antivirus/firewall program?

For adblocker i use AdBlock Pro on Google Chrome and Firefox, not sure if it is available for IE or Opera browser. Luckily my comp is doing fine atm, lol. I also have Defraggler, Recuva, and Speccy. Might not be needed but I like them anyways, lol.

i have heard that this is pretty good, but i have not tested it http://www.360totalsecurity.com/en/features/360-total-security-essential/

i never liked comodo, but i only ran it for a short while.

as for adblock for ie YES https://adblockplus.org/releases/adblock-plus-12-for-internet-explorer-released i'm sure there is more current than what that like shows.

recuva and speccy are fine, if you have a ssd drive you do not want to run a defrag on it regardless of what the defrag program tells you.

We all have our personal preferences.More or less a contraversial subject i guess.I use Malwarebytes (without the ativirus) but just do a manual scan once a week.I prefer not to have any antivirus running in the background monitoring everything i get into.I use the basic built in firewall in windows 7.I use Ccleaner as a cleanup tool and just a few others to monitor startup programs and running processes.I steer away from nortons or any other antivirus.I can not remember the last time i have ever had a virus on this machine in the last 5 years. To put it simple, common sense is the key.Stay out of sites you know that may carry viruses/spyware..etc,and never download anything that your not sure of or atleast without scanning it first before you install it.I continuously look for rogue programs or processes running in the background using process explorer and process monitor or rogue startup programs using autoruns. If i find something unfamiliar,i look it up first and if need be get rid of it. I do not however knock anyone elses preferences. To each their own. This is only my preference and i have had nothing but good luck.So to put it simple, keeping your computer clean, doing a daily/weekly scan and staying out of sites you KNOW/OR UNSURE OF tht may be infected will give you positive results and a smooth running computer in your daily computing.

(please don't think im stepping on your toes The Nude Dude as i am merely giving my opinion/preferences.And thankyou for your post.

AlphaOmega (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/295217-AlphaOmega) agree disable auto-monitoring, not needed. i scan everything with malwarebytes and bitdefender simply by rightclicking on the newly downloaded item and scanning it. both malwarewarebytes and bitdefender are set to scan c except for the desktop once a week. as for personal prefs it's what works best for the enduser and what they are conformable with.

cool thanks. removed comodo since it blocked my ability to apply features of the theme i'm using lol. installed the one you mentioned. so far is working great. Also, I won't have to worry about the SSD drive issue since i'm on a prebuilt laptop lol. Still using an HDD drive rofl.
