I've gotten this strange issue twice now, for some reason my sound will randomly cut out, and my PC will stop playing any form of media, WMP will say it's encountered a problem even with music files that I know are not broken, it won't play any Youtube videos, but the thing is the video is loading just fine so it's not buffering, and finally I can't open my start menu, now this is on WIndows 10 but i'm posting this here cause there is no Windows 10 support forum and Windows 10 is so much similar to Windows 8, if someone could help me please do, and everything else runs just fine with no problems, also restarting seems to fix the issue but only temporarily, as I encountered this issue yesterday as well

when did this start? Did you download or install anything prior to this happening? Have you changed any settings..etc?

tT start you know that Windows 8 has some errors
neither the updates that were released subsequently corrected.
Test happen to Windows 8.1 (not as many errors as version 8)

and if you try these steps which I served me (when I had problems with windows 8, 8.1)

first download and install Slim Cleaner Free version (obviously the pay is much better) ↓↓↓

http://slimcleaner.com/

1 active all checks in the Windows registry tab
2 analyze and then clean

Restart the pc

SlimDrivers installed now (SlimDriver, not DriverUpdate)↓↓

http://www.driverupdate.net/

1 After you download and install click scan
2 If you obsolete or old driver appears, update the driver (the driver update button)

Restart your PC and see the changes

Note: If you use the latest version of Aimp player (which is the version 4)
The most common mistake of this is that short or disable any sound from pc
install the version 3.60 which is the stable version Aimp

first http://www.tenforums.com/forum.php

second get yourself a copy of driver navigator. i can pm you a copy of mine if you like. it is the only driver updater i trust.

third never use a utility to clean registry files.

i'm 2635599 on tenforums.

fourth better off with ccleaner.

and lastly if did you upgrade from 8.1 to 10while you had problems with 8.1?

How can drivers cause my PC to suddenly refuse to open my start menu, or play any media files, or play any Youtube videos? That doesn't make sense

a bad format on one or more drives, program not installing properly, a program breaking, etc....

I see, well I used SlimDriver to check for Driver updates and the only thing it found was a Video driver update, which is odd cause AMD Gaming Evolved said my drivers are up to date

i'd trust you amd updater. both amd and nvidia are extremely good at keeping the drivers and other software up to date.

well ... if nothing is the only solution you would reformat and reinstall ,
no longer install more windows windows 8 :anger: Move to 8.1.1 that will have at least a 10% error that has the windows 8:peace:
