I can not change the Aero orb

The operating system will not let me change the orb windows 7, I installed the Theme Resource Changer and third issues patch and reboot whenever I get the orb Aero theme.


Any solution?

Before you installed theme resource changer had you used any kind of start orb changer in the past like the one that angel960 mentioned if so you need to use that app to set the orb back to the default one first then uninstall the app as those applicatios will have a hold over the explorer.exe and won't let you change it by just applying the theme like theme resource changer does.

Second thing would be what themes are you using because they have to be setup to use theme resource changer to have the orb switch when you apply the theme. I have a tutorial here http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/31635-How-to-use-theme-resource-changer but basically what there has to be is a folder inside the theme folder with the name explorer.exe and the start orb images inside it as png's.

Theme resource changer is much better then the app that angel posted (sorry angel lol) or any app like that as the big difference is that theme resource changer does not make any edits to system files as in explorer.exe or explorerframe.dll or shell32.dll it applies the images using system memory so your system files are left untouched and images are changed by just simply switching the theme as opposed to switching a theme then editing all those system files for images making it much simpler and easier :)

Hey ark22 ok I watched that vid and you have that running in virtual box after reboot are the explorer frame buttons coming up and are the side panels showing in control panel as well, I would think this is a problem in the virtual enviorment rather then an issue with an installed os is this happening on a regular install as well or just in virtual box as possibly v-box is not loading theme resource changer when it starts up?

Ok bud what I am asking though is after you reboot right do the buttons in explorer famre show or not show like the back and forward buttons in the explorer window are those not showing as well after reboot. Also the side panel in in control panel is that showing or not showing after reboot as knowing if those show or not makes it easier to narrow down the issue as if those are also not showing then we know that theme resource changer is not loading up on your system after reboot, I am still pretty sure this is a problem with the virtual box more then anything else.

But let me know do those images also show or not show after reboot

That's ok bud I totally understand maybe you could private message angel960 since he speaks spanish if that's ok with you angel and he could try and relay what I was saying or he might be able to help a bit more so we are not losing you here with the language barrier, I hope that's ok with you angel :)

Something like that happened to me. I installed Alienware Blue Skinpack. Then, I was fortunate enough to discover really cool themes by razorsedge. Installed Star Trek & fell in love with it. (among others). Then, started getting an Alienware extras download pop up forcibly downloading apps every time I ran ccleaner. I uninstalled the Skinpack & it took my cool Star Trek orb. I tried every thing I could think of, but the only thing that worked was reinstalling the Skinpack and blocking it in my Firewall. I'll be sure to go over the tutorial here in this post.
