Nice job with transfers between builds.

(just wanna ask why the minimize, maximize and close buttons are so bigger then in W7 and W8.1)

It's a windows 10 problem, themes generally have larger caption buttons but I have found ways to make them smaller, just use the Poison System Metrics.reg file provided, log off to take effect.

Looks like you are using a custom theme atlas with aero glass, you will have to disable the theme atlas, use Big Muscles glass GUI to disable it.

My favorite theme and now for Windows 10, thanks Mr. Grim :)

An important question: What is it that makes the Black background color goes white after hibernation?

Edit: Maybe i should have posted the question in "Windows 10 Theme Help and Support"?
But it's still an issue i like to know more about..

Windows 10 is a complete turd, I just tested out the new update and yes themes are still possible but it's the same story as last time, no themes from Th2 will work on RS1 and the msstyles has almost been completely stripped, many of the classes and properties have been removed and I have no idea yet what the level of skinning will be, ONE still works but the SiB installer seems to hang when I tried it.

Wtf is MS up to and are they doing this on purpose?
I can't see what the intention is and why it seems they hate custom theming so. But i refuse to use a standard Windows theme.
In worst case im gonna roll back to Windows 7 or 8.1

Good news and bad, ONE and SIB are still working, not sure why I couldn't get SIB to install last time, Uxstyle works fine and you don't need other patches to select themes from the personalization menu, they work as normal so that's the good.

The bad is that you can no longer import a windows 7 theme like we could in th2 so now the only way to get a head start on a theme is to import a theme but don't save it and then make a styler hack for pretty much everything except for the DWM parts and then apply that to a fresh aero style, you still have to add back classes that were removed for the SiB start menu but it does still work once you have added all the properties back manually, style hacks will not work for the start menu and that's about it, at least there are some shortcuts but what would be even better is if WSB wasn't so crap making style hacks, I notice that if you make a style hack that it will not copy all the states for the parts it will only copy state 0 and 1 anything else wont work unless you go to each individual property and mark the property for export.

That is one thing I would really like to see fixed with WSB and makes it much more time consuming having to open every state and copy properties manually from another theme.

Plz help.
I have some problems with this Poison Theme. I noticed that if i changed the color in Windows Settings to etc. red, the top frame turned akward blue??
I was able to fix it with AeroGlass GUI, but it took some time before i found out how.

My thought was that if i uninstalled AeroGlass i would not have this problem because i tried HUD Evolution without AeroGlass and it was looking fine to me
(And btw the new taskbar with SiB 1.1.9 is soo sweet, so i hope there will be a HUD Red Theme at some point?)

But back to the issue: I have a Grey color frame when i use Poison Theme and can not figure out why? Am i doing something wrong ? (No AeroGlass installed)

Poison looks like the title bars need Aero Glass, for sure that's why you get the white blocks of text. You may want to try dropping the HUD red .msstyle into the StartIsBack Themes folder, disabling file search and selecting the start menu from appearance settings. As for the blue I have no idea, I was experiencing the same crap apparently it's aero glass though

I do not recommend to drop the HUD Red .msstyle into SiB Style folder and then install AeroGlass, it was like using a theme from Win 10 10240 on Win 10 TH2. It almost brick my system. Was lucky to start in safe mode and first remove AeroGlass and then deactivate SiB. Then restarted and choose standard Windows 10 theme.

I removed HUD Red.msstyles from SiB and Activated it again. Installed AeroGlass and restarted, then selected Poison Theme and now it work.
(if i choose another color in Windows color settings, its messing with the Aero effect on the window frames, but at least it gets red if i choose red and green if i choose green and so on.)
With AeroGlass GUI i was able to change the color balance, so it works now. :) :)

Hmm, I'm pretty sure that putting the .msstyle in your StartisBack themes folder shouldn't cause any system damage. Sounds more like a problem with Aero Glass. I'm not a 100% sure but I think StartisBack using a Windows 8.1 .msstyle shouldn't be risky for people to do. Is it possible you tried to actually apply the HUD Red theme by accidently double clicking on it?

I believe you are right about AeroGlass was the cause.. But because im not running a virtual machine and forgot to do a restore point, i was going WTF? and panicked :)
Maybe i try put the HUD Red.msstyles in SiB again later.. I'll let you know

Hello. First of all my thanks for the amazing theme and work that you have done Mr. Grim. It is by far the best theme I have seen for ever. I used it with windows 7 and 8 and I absolutelly loved it!!! Apparently windows 10 kind of hate it I think cause I have more problems installing it than any other OS together. Is there a way to force the icons ? Everything else seems to be working fine (for now, I fear that in a next update there will be problems), but the icons except the recycling bin and my computer are the default generic windows 10 folder icons. Any help would be much appreciated.

It is NOT recommended to use version 1.4.5 on newer Windows Insider builds. Although the glass effect can work, there are some breaking changes in these builds which causes Aero Glass to access invalid memory regions.

This is specifically explained on the Aero Glass website Guide, so there's no reason to edit the OP.

http://glass8.eu/guide.html

How to install this software?
Important thing is that you must place all files in writable location (i.e. not in Program Files),, because DWM process does not run under user's credential. If you don't do this, Aero Glass will not be able to download symbols or create debug logs! If you worry about the security, you can change the permission of aerohost.exe and dwmglass.dll files to be writable by Administrators group only and leave it read-only to others.

And the iPack will work with all version of TH2 and RS1.

Try turning Windows fast start off if you haven't already, 90% when you get the flashing white screen it's because of Windows fast start.

1.) Navigate to : Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options
2.) Click “Choose what the power buttons do” on the left side of the window.
3.) Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable.”
4.) Under “Shutdown settings” make sure “Turn on fast startup” is disabled.

FYI, Disabling this setting will have no effect whatsoever on your boot / reboot time.

I'm gonna let you in on a little secret.........

You don't need to install any theme patcher at all, all you REALLY need to install is UxTheme Signature Bypass and you should be good to go, THEN you won't have the headache of uninstalling your theme patcher every time there is a Windows Update to prevent Windows from bricking or breaking. Windows Updates don't affect the UxTheme Signature Bypass.

While that is true and I think it's the best solution, unfortunately it's not for everyone because secure boot needs to be disabled for it to work and that's not possible for everyone, that's why BM has never officially supported it.

You don't need to install any theme patcher at all, all you REALLY need to install is UxTheme Signature Bypass and you should be good to go, THEN you won't have the headache of uninstalling your theme patcher every time there is a Windows Update to prevent Windows from bricking or breaking. Windows Updates don't affect the UxTheme Signature Bypass.

cant get it to work... UxTheme Signature Bypass

While that is true and I think it's the best solution, unfortunately it's not for everyone because secure boot needs to be disabled for it to work and that's not possible for everyone, that's why BM has never officially supported it.

UxTheme Signature Bybpass? Really? Because I have it installed, it's the only patcher I have installed and I don't have secure boot shut off. Never have shut it off the whole time I have been using the bypass and never a problem with it. I DO however have fast boot shut off which are entirely two different things.

I would have never installed it if a prerequisite was to shut off secure boot, AeroGlass has the option of showing glass on apps if you shut off secure boot and I won't even do that.

Ok ........ I'm gonna attempt this one more time, I know this is written here some place, someone really needs to sticky it ........... here we go ......

Download DLL tool to bypass UXTheme signature verification (UxTheme Signature Bypass) here: http://www.glass8.eu/download.html - you will see the download link towards the bottom of the page (2 links from the bottom)

1.)Copy both dll's from the UxTheme Signature Bypass rar file to your C:\AeroGlass folder

2.) Open start menu, click "Run" , type "regedit" (without quotes) and hit enter

3.) in regedit on the left side tree open the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows

4.) With the last key (Windows) Highlighted make sure all keys on the right read as so, if not, edit or insert them (WITHOUT QUOTES) :
"LoadAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000001
"RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000000
"AppInit_DLLs"="C:\\AeroGlass\\DWMGlass.dll,C:\\AeroGlass\\ModernFrame.dll,C:\\AeroGlass\\UxThemeSignatureBypass64.dll"
Make sure all the above is correct before closing registry editor.

5.) Copy the text below, paste to notepad and save the file to the desktop as AG-RegSetup.bat, run it by double clicking on the AG-RegSetup.bat file on your desktop then reboot. After reboot you will be able to run 3rd party themes.
I know the script below says Windows 10 but it works on both 10 and 8.1.
For Windows 8.1 or 10:

Also, I see your having some trouble with AeroGlass loading or finding symbols ..........

If AeroGlass does not load symbols and keeps throwing an error that it can find or load the symbols, I am going to include a .bat file I made from code I found on MSFN to force it to find and load the symbols as this happens a lot usually after Windows Updates and on new installs, save the file to your desktop and run it as administrator ....... BUT ONLY IF AERO GLASS DOES NOT LOAD OR FIND THE SYMBOLS. The .bat file works with my version of AeroGlass (v1.4) but I assume the file will also work with other versions also, I just use v1.4 because for some reason it works better and is more stable on my system.
I just keep the file on my desktop, this way after I reboot from a Windows major update I get the symbols message from AeroGlass, I just double click the .bat file and I'm back in business.

That's it, that's as simple as I can make it, if you followed the instructions above exactly UxTheme Signature Bypass should be installed and working properly on your system now.

3.) Copy schedule.bat to c:\AeroGlass and run it as admin (have to run from this folder, otherwise path to aerohost isnt valid in task scheduler
4.) After Run AG-RegSetup.bat to make the registery changes.
5.) Extract *.dll from UxThemeSignatureBypass.zip to c:\AeroGlass
6.) Got to youre BIOS -> disable secure boot and delete all excisting keys (you can backup them first)

Theme Patching
1.) Open TakeOwnership.zip and execute InstallTakeOwnership.reg
2.) Browse to "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\aero" Rightmouseclick aerolite.msstyles -> Take Ownership

I don't know what you are trying to accomplish there but it has nothing to do with AeroGlass, I'm even having trouble with the hook since the new Windows update posted yesterday, just have to wait until someone comes up with another work around.

I am only going on what I have read on MSFN from BM and I just googled this for you as well https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dn280412%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Starting in Windows 8, the AppInit_DLLs infrastructure is disabled when secure boot is enabled.

Windows 8 adopted UEFI and secure boot to improve the overall system integrity and to provide strong protection against sophisticated threats. When secure boot is enabled, the AppInit_DLLs mechanism is disabled as part of a no-compromise approach to protect customers against malware and threats.

Summary

The AppInit_DLLs mechanism is not a recommended approach for legitimate applications because it can lead to system deadlocks and performance problems.
The AppInit_DLLs mechanism is disabled by default when secure boot is enabled.
Using AppInit_DLLs in a Windows 8 desktop app is a Windows desktop app certification failure.

Hmmm ..... that is strange, I just checked my secure boot using msinfo32 and it is telling me that secure boot is off, now If I did not turn it off myself I am gathering that something in the UxTheme signature Bypass code does? That is strange, because I did not turn it off myself.
Well, if it's off it has probably been off for quite some time now, besides it's not like I visit shady websites or anything, I have a pretty good security setup and make regular backups and images of my disks so I am not all that worried about it and I'll probably leave it that way because the UxTheme Signature Bypass works better than any Ux Patcher that I have used.

Anyway Grim, I just purchased the entire HUD Machine series from the VC shop, I didn't know they all came in .exe format and need some help, please check your pm.

The download for UXThemePatcher isnt a download for the program anymore. The zip files only includes a text file, few images and an html shortcut.

You can either:

Patch your system using the UxThemePatcher method follow these steps:

1. Download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/md38z4dczd8oaia/Theme+Patcher.rar
2. Install UxStyle_0242_x86_x64_preview (Run ad admin...)
3. Install UltraUXThemePatcher_3.0.4 (Run as admin...)
4. Restart
5. Download and install TakeOwnershipEx http://winaero.com/download.php?view.16
6. Open folder system32 search with keys "Themeui.dll", right click the file select Take ownership & rename "themeui.dll" to "themeui.dll.del"
7. In system32 search with keys "uxinit.dll", right click the file select Take ownership & rename "uxinit.dll" to "uxinit.dll.del"
8. In system32 search with keys "uxtheme.dll", right click the file select Take ownership & rename "uxtheme.dll" to "uxtheme.dll.del"
9. Copy all three files from Theme Patcher\File Patch (dependent on your architecture) into system32.
That's it!

You will get an incompatibility message with Aero Glass but you can just ignore it. Extract the folder "symbols" into your AeroGlass directory after installing version 1.4.5 from the Aero Glass website and reboot and it should be working properly as well.

Set your OldNewExplorer settings like this:
http://virtualcustoms.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=70715&stc=1

And in StartisBack, open the preferences window and select the start menu, select the Orb, hide user account picture and hit apply to get the themed taskbar and start menu.

Alternatively you can use this patching method (allows thumbnail previews to display in personalization pane):
Uxstyle and Theme Signature Bypass for Windows 10 TH2 AKA 1511 AKA 10586 (http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/70555-Uxstyle-and-Theme-Signature-Bypass-for-Windows-10-TH2-AKA-1511-AKA-10586)
