If your coming from another theme? What works for me is change back into windows 10 default theme then reboot. Once your back into the system change to the desired theme and reboot once more and profit. I'm relatively new but that's what works for me. Oh and awesone theme @Mr Grim . I'm currently using the Windows 8 of this but now I have a reason to switch back to Windows 10 not saying other themes arent great but im a fan of blue thank you for your hard work sir

One stupid question. What is the difference of HUD Evolution and HUD Evolution Topshell? Don't see it :(

The topshell swaps the Command bar and details pane so the details pane is on top and the command bar is at the bottom, you weill need to use Old New Explorer for this and you must also use the settings I have shown on the first post, make sure you have left show details pane at the bottom unchecked.

Ok so i figured out why my screen was flashing white. Its one of the .wav files in the sound scheme folder. Not sure why it would do that unless its bcuz im using my 40" TV as a monitor. Anyways.. i went back to 8.1 thinking it had something to do with 10 but it was the sound scheme.... always the simple answer. lol

Make sure you have patched your OS, using this method (http://www.cleodesktop.com/2015/11/install-uxthemepatcher-for-windows-10.html) (if u have version 10586)

EDIT I found the new method to get themes installed correctly in 10586 and I followed it the best I could and theme shows up in Personalize. My questions are what folders/files don't get moved to C:/ in the unzipped theme? I guess Extras don't get moved and it is all manual/exe installs correct? Do I need to do all extras and should I uninstall Classic Shell cause I have been using it before I tried this method or will it work instead of StartIsBackPlusPlus? Finally which icons work best with 10586 Win 10? Sorry for all the slap me stupid questions but I have a good bit of PC exp just not full themes and Win 10! So any advice, help, info, or etc. would be great! Thanks!!!
By the way new to this site but very happy I found it best I've seen for themes and any custom stuff for everything!!! AWESOME!!

Welcome to VC ghosttexas (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/304421-ghosttexas) there is a folder named Theme in the .zip archive at the bottom of the OP, inside of that folder are the files you need to extract to Windows\Resources\Themes.

I literally haven't upgraded from windows 7 to any newer version of windows because the HUC Machine Series I purchased didn't work and I really need this skin :)

Hello,

Thank you for this skin, he(it) works on my Windows 10 ( 10586 ), but I had big problems when I wanted to change the icons of folders system with 7STP.
My system did not restart, and I was obliged to return to a point of restoration.

To change the icons of folders system, there is a sure method?

Right click on the fonts included with the theme and click install for each font. Once you've done that they should switch over on their own.

Is it only on me or is it general?
It could be my issue only, in which case I'm guessing a re-installation of the skin could work, but i don't want to mess with anything until someone confirms the issue.

Okay, so I've noticed these 2 problems on both my windows 10 installations.

The OpenSave windows Dialogue doesn't appear correctly:

Whilst the Drive properties do appear correctly:

the Folder properties do not:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18135227/TempLinks/3.FolderProperies_WhiteForeColour.jpg

This is NOT caused by any kind of hibernation/sleep - After a full shut down and turning the computer on, when windows finishes loading, the problem occurs by default (on both windows installations)

Also.. what's with the weird cyan/blue thingy in the Title-Text of the folders? I noticed it after the latest windows update... it sucks

Have you updated the themeui, uxinit, uxtheme to the extend where you manually copy the files to windows/system32 after taking ownership before pasting the files ?

Aero is mainly for the transparency and glassy looks so i cant see why that woauld make a difference.

I have not been online here for many months so i have not tried this yet but gonna try it in a bit and see if i get the same issue.

Edit : I have now applied the theme and i do not have any of your problems and my win is fully updated running pro version.

I wouldn't say it's due to ONE being setup incorrectly, moreso it's actually a bug with ONE itself. I've had the white open/save dialog for quite a while now and I managed to fix it just now.

What I did was Uncheck "Enable glass on navigation bar", "Install"
Check "Enable glass on navigation bar", "Install"

And now the white bar has disappeared oddly enough and it appears correctly.

If you're refering to the letters not appearing on the properties of folders and files, then uninstalling OldNewExplorer did not help in my case. nor did re-applying it
Maybe it is part of the problem, but there's probably more to it as it didn't fix my problem :(

There's something wrong with this Drive Properties pane screenshot as well.
I think it's one of the extra programs you've installed that I quoted.
For example, those images on the titlebar in your screenshot seem to be because of a program adding extra window/display features.

If everything else is working in your theme, there's no reason why the Drive Properties background should appear white.
It shouldn't be caused by any of the standard apps recommended to be installed with themes (ie. ONE or Aero Glass).

Here's how the Properties dialog should look:

My recommendation would be to uninstall some of those other programs. After watching the video for DisplayFusion, it looks like that could be the cause of those images on the titlebar.
Your Registry tweaks are not the cause of the problem either.

The problem I'm referring to is the white background in this case.
StarDock products have been known to cause problems with using custom themes. If DisplayFusion is not the cause of the problem, you can try systematically uninstalling each StarDock program, reboot and reapply the theme each time.

Oh - As far as the white background is concerned, so long as the text is viewable, I really don't mind it.
The problem arises when nothing is visible, as is the case with Fold Properties.

I'll try to find the root of the problem by trail and error (as you proposed) and i'll report back here so people with the same problem know what's causing it
However, I'm not sure when I'll start uninstalling the software - i find i'm currently overwhelmed by the sheer volume of projects for the bloody master's degree, so.. hope i'll find time for windows cosmetic surgery next week or so (easter).

My mistake, you must be using the "HUD Evolution Light" variant of the theme. I forgot about that one. I still think it's worth trying to uninstall DisplayFusion and other StarDock programs to see if that fixes the problem with the text. That's just my suggestion as StarDock has caused problems for me using custom themes in the past. Once I started using themes from here, I stopped using anything made by StarDock.

73320

PS. I know what your issue is. OldNewExplorer isnt setup right. I remember having the same issues when win 10 first came out and it all came down to OldNewExplorer.

I just saw your edit now - sorry for quoting -
Could you please check that you're still not having any issues using the LIGHT version of the HUD theme?
(I can only use the light one because of the programmes I have to use for the uni which only show correctly with light skins)

Confirmed I have invisible text on Folder Properties using the Light variant of the theme.

A workaround is to highlight the text so it can be seen.

n1h1l1sT
April 17th, 2016, 11:46 PM
Yeah, I did figure that out :P However, that's not the way to go as you can only highlight 1 thing at a time, and to make matters worse, on big folders with thousands of files, the text keeps updating, de-selecting my highlight

I'm guessing the problem can be replicates then, so.. Mr.Grim, please update the Light version of the theme to fix this :)

White text is now fixed, shame it took so long for someone to notice this bug, it had over a thousand downloads, maybe not many people were using the light version.

Thank you very much!! :) :loving:

As far as notcing the bug is concerned, whilst the normal (dark) version is probably the one used the most, i don't believe the asymmetry is that vast; we have to account for other things as well
For example, I've been using the light version since day 1 - but I couldn't pinpoint what exactly is causing said bug. I couldn't just rush here and blame the theme itself, as many other things could have been causing it :P
Also.. most people don't post/enquire/reply to communities - they just browse through...
And lastly, most people would just accept it as it is

So.. accounting for all that, it makes sense that it took thousands of downloads for it to be properly reported ^_^
Again, thank you very much for the quick fix!

And as I'm using Win10 as my main windows nowadays and the theme is free, as soon as I get some myself I'm going to be donating some money to show my appreciation (or you could maker a premium win10 HUD Machine Series and I'll purchase that as I did with the Windows 7 one which I LOVED)

Great job once again - have a great day :)

Hello, I noticed a slight bug with the start menu. Basically When on small icons the circle-like images are sized wrong causing them to show up wrong. And on both the large button setting and small button setting, the hover effect for the arrow images on the right side doesn't line up properly (possibly a sizing issue again if im guessing properly). Basically, i remember this issue showing up on the ports of your other hud themes before as well and that they were fixed by simply resizing the images used for them. Here are some screenshots showing the issues.

Can you possibly fix these as soon as you get the time.

P.S. Sorry for not spotting these before. It's been a while since I last used this theme, lol. I actually reinstalled it upon noticing it wasn't on my laptop anymore. Still not sure why it wasn't there anymore, lol.

something must have changed during the last application, because now the theme sticks through a reboot.

It is something that happens when you apply "themes" that do not correspond to the "build" you have.I mean you can not apply this topic if you have the build 10240.

it seems to be related to the computer creating an unsaved theme everytime i log off, shutdown, or lock the computer.
then it tries to apply that as the active theme which doesnt work the same as the HUD theme.......
any ideas guys??
thanks in advance for the help!

hello, i have error with aero glass win8.1+ install says "Incompatibility issue - Aero glass does not know how to hook your version of DWM(0x8). You should download appropriate symbols package for your operating system from Microsoft website and press Retry button. " My explorer menus have been changed but not my start menu. I'm having the same issue as ShadouStrife, and same Windows version, except literally nothing of the theme is getting applied. It doesn't even show me the wallpaper thumbnails in the theme settings. I followed the steps exactly, and all three system32 files are patched, so I don't know what the problem is. I'm going to do a system restore, hopefully the issue gets fixed so I can use this badass theme.

You can just ignore the incompatibility error. Just extract the symbols folder and put it in your AeroGlass directory and then restart. It should work properly after that.

As for the start menu open up startisback++ configuration and in the appearance tab select the Hud evolution start menu

Guys? Can anyone confirm or deny whether the 1151 10586 themes like this one work on Windows 10 build 14316 (currently in Technical Preview)?
I'm asking because that build brings Bash into windows, something that as a programmer, I could use - but I'd like to know if I can keep the theme first.

No, you would have to wait until the build is RTM and Mr GRiM has provided a new download archive. Themes from 1511 and 1607 are not backwards compatible, although it's straightforward for themers to update them, thanks to Mr GRiM's custom import scripts.

Umh... I seem to have hit a bit of a hitch here..
So, windows decided to auto-update the computer, like, everything went normally, then when i shut the computer down I saw the "Windows is configuring Windows Update" message
and when I turned it on again the anniversary update was being installed.

The thing is, the computer had the HUD Evolution theme installed, and after the automatic update I can't log in.
The second I log in, it logs me out and so on and so forth.

Do we know if a specific file causes this?
If so, I could try to put the SSD on another computer, and copy/paste the original file from a genuine windows ISO file or something
or perhaps even boot from a windows media and command promp "sfc /scannow" it?
What do you recommend?

Mr GRiM
August 8th, 2016, 04:43 PM
This is because it's trying to apply a theme that is not compatible, If you can boot from another OS if you are dual booting then go to the theme directory and copy the aero.msstyles to the Hud Evolution folder and rename it exactly the same as the HUD Evolution.msstyles, that way it should have a compatible msstyles to load on start, after that remove all TH2 themes and download RS1 themes.

n1h1l1sT
August 8th, 2016, 08:24 PM
Unfortunately it didn't work :(
I also tried deleting the HUD Evolution folder and copying the aero one renamed as HUD with copied aero.mmstyles renamed as HUD as well
I tried Repair Start-up from windows 1607 bootable media
I tried sfc /scannow from windows 1607 bootable media

nothing worked so far.

I guess I'm going to try the "Revert to Previous Build" from windows bootable now

Edit:
I did, and now the screen flashes black & white all the time :S

Hi. Love all the work you are putting into these themes. I just started customizing my desktop and for some reason I just can't get the windows explorer windows to be black in coulour in line with a theme. I have tried multiple ways including UxThemePatcher, Theme Resource Changer etc. with no luck. If you could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.

First, It would be a lot easier to see what is going on if you posted a screen shot of what you are talking about. Second, I really hope you did not use Theme Resource Changer on Windows 10 because it is not a tool to be used with 10.

When it comes to custom themes the only "compatibility" you need to worry about is that you install the correct theme designed for your build for example Windows 10 RTM themes will not work on Windows 10 TH2 or Anniversary Update, Windows 10 TH2 theme builds are not backwards compatible to RTM or to the Anniversary update, same goes for the Anniversary update, they are not backwards compatible nor will they be compatible with the forthcoming Creators Update. Your graphics and ram you have plenty enough of, not that any of these custom themes would even put a strain on your system.

Looks like you're running TH2 because the current build of Windows 10 is 1607 OS Build 14393.953

Yes I installed old new explorer, I wasn't sure what it was but by following a guide I found when I clicked on a link in the OP it said to install it. I pretty much installed all things in the OP except I didn't touch "UXStyle" since it is not compatible with my build. I also didn't install the Aero Glass package since I am not sure what that is.
