Hello,

I'm having a rather annoying issue. No matter what I do, i can't get any iPacks to work on my desktop icons. Here is a screenshot.

I've tried restarting my comp and hiding the icons via the area in the screenshot and then unhiding them. The rest of the icons from each iPack i've tried apply. But no matter which iPack I use, the desktop icons simply refuse to change. I've even tried applying the iPacks while the allow themes to change desktop icons option was ticked but still no effect. Can someone please hep me out with this? It's really starting to get annoying.

I'm on Windows 10 RS1, but the issue happens with every iPack I use. I think I may have an idea on what's causing it, but I need to test it first. To be honest, the problem only started after I switched security from Windows Defender to 360 Total Security. But I just finished uninstalling that since it was being a pain anyways. I'm about to reapply the iPack I had installed in the screenshot and see if it works this time. I'll post a new reply as soon as I'm finished.

Yup, that was the problem. iPacks are applying properly now. That'll teach me to use friggin' 360 Total Security, lol.

Nimbi (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/280551-Nimbi) here try bitdefender total security 2016 or the beta of 2017. if you test the 2017 beta i suggest you only use it in vm.

"like my great great grand old dad always said: i would rather have a virus, than using a symantec product..because a virus you can rid of..!"

Ya, I've seen a fair few posts about Bit Defender. Sadly, I can't afford to pay for it once the free trial ends. That's actually why I can't stand McAfee, Norton, and pretty much all security services that make you pay to use them Having to pay for internet security is total bs imo. Internet security is by far the most important thing for anyone who uses a computer. To charge for it is total bs. I stick solely to free ones for that reason and because I simply can't afford any more subscriptions. Practically every penny of the checks we get out here each month gets spent on bills and what little food we can get with the remainder. We literally live on less than minimal wage from my grandma's job and my tiny friggin' ssi checks. We have practically no money left to pay for anything once we finish paying the bills and getting our first week of food. After that we have to scrounge up whatever we can to keep ourselves fed for the rest of the month. So paying for internet security is literally not an option for me.

Downloading isnt what you gives you viruses.. double clicking the file is what does it. So if you scan everything with Virus Total before you install you have a very good chance of not being infected. I dont know what to tell you with really big files. All i can say is atm im just using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes.. and making use of Virus Total

Nimbi (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/280551-Nimbi) i'm sorry but 90 days is 90 days. the response should of been thanks not a country song. unless you are retired in my opinion you are not entitled to social security, even for physical or mental disability. social security was ment to be more or less a guaranteed monthly amount for people who retire above a certain age who either don't have a pension coming to them or their pension is not going to be enough to live on. i have no problem with state or federal aid for those that are disabled in some way, but NOT paid out of the social security super fund. now back to the issue at hand. you're welcome for the links. not lets please get back on topic.

Don't believe all the hype dude, you don't have to pay for antivirus or internet security suites in order to stay safe, Defender, Sophos Free, Avira Free, 360 antivirus and the list goes on, are all very good free antivirus solutions. People that pay for antivirus just believe the hype that in order to stay truly protected they must pay for it.....wrong. Personally I haven't paid for antivirus or an antivirus suite in well over 10 years and the closest I have ever come to being infected with anything was about 5 years ago and that was by a drive-by, out of my own stupidity I was somewhere where I did not belong and clicked on something that I really should not have, knowing full well at the time I should not be clicking on it. I have not even come close to being infected with anything since.

The moral of the story? the best antivirus going is you and your common sense. Don't go fooling around where you don't belong in places that you don't understand or know you could get something and you'll be just fine with a free solution, my antivirus solution is made up of Windows Defender (Free) , Malwarebytes (Free), Winpatrol (purchased for $2 on a special) Malwarebytes Anti Exploit Free (Free), Win Antiransom Plus+ (purchased cheap on a special introductory offer).
While I can afford to pay for a full fledged overpriced piece of software like Bitdefender, which is good, don't get me wrong, but there really isn't any need to. I am truly sorry for your situation but if you do your homework you will see that I am right.
