Methods to Install Custom Themes

Installing themes on Windows 10 Anniversary Update 1607 Build 14393 Redstone One (http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/72488-Installing-themes-on-Windows-10-Anniversary-Update-1607-Build-14393-10-Redstone-One)

Windows 10 All-In-One Installer with Uninstaller (http://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/72627-Windows-10-All-In-One-Installer-with-Uninstaller)

Tools You May Need

(http://tihiy.net/files/OldNewExplorer.rar)Uxstyle (https://github.com/riverar/uxstyle/releases/download/0.2.4.2/UxStyle_0242_x86_x64_preview.exe), Theme Signature Bypass (http://virtualcustoms.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=74615&d=1470338612) and UltraUxThemePatcher v3.1.0 (https://www.syssel.net/hoefs/software_uxtheme.php?lang=en)
(https://www.syssel.net/hoefs/software_uxtheme.php?lang=en)UxStyle is a bit of software that relaxes Windows theme signature requirements to enable third-party customization. Specifically, UxStyle consists of a tiny system service and a kernel driver that are loaded into memory where they hang out until reboot. No file system changes are made. (First introduced on March 19, 2009.) UxStyle was recently rebranded to UxStyle Community Edition and published to GitHub under the GPL license (https://github.com/riverar/uxstyle/blob/master/LICENSE).

(http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170375-oldnewexplorer-118/)UxTheme service hook - Visual Theme Signature Bypass

UltraUXThemePatcher modifies your system files so that 3. party themes can be used. The program backs up the original system files and all changes can be undone by uninstalling if you have issues. UltraUXThemePatcher is available for Windows XP to Windows 10 RTM and Anniversary Update 1607 for 32bit and 64bit version. Note: This application makes changes to your system files, this can lead to unexpected problems or total breakdown of Windows!

ONE (OldNewExplorer) (http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170375-oldnewexplorer-118/)
OldNewExplorer is the Windows 10 (and Windows 8.1, and 8) shell extension / tweaker which can undo "improvements" to file browsing made in newer Windows versions. Everything is optional for your liking.

Restore devices / drives grouping - Everything is 'Devices and drives'. That's stupid! O-N-E can restore grouping which made sense in Win7/8.
Restore libraries / remove folders - Remove all those folders which were unoptionally added into Windows 8.1 This PC folder and put the libraries back to their place, without registry hacking / breaking apps.
Restore command bar / remove Ribbon - Because some people consider it an abomination.
Restore details pane at bottom - Same reason; reclaim useful horizontal space.
Improve styling - Get rid of some Win7 stuff here and there; improve styling with some built-in visual styles.
For themers / skinners, O-N-E can help to override a lot of hardcoded styling in Windows 10!

For best results use these settings.

After years of development, Winaero Tweaker is an all-in-one application which will include most options available in the free Winaero apps and extend it as much as possible. It is a universal tweaker software which supports Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

Windows Tweaker (http://www.thewindowstweaker.com/download/)
More than 100+ tweaks that allow you to customize your system & display settings, schedule shutdowns and lots more. Access to more than 35 Windows tools at your fingertip.

Recommended Prior to Applying Custom Themes

Create a Restore Point
Install Fonts included in the "Extras" folder
Apply System Metrics included in the "Extras" folder and logout or reboot
Copy a Start Orb from the "Theme" folder to a new location, rename it if it's 6801, 6805, or 6809, open the StartIsBack++ configuration, click Add... select the Start Orb and Start Menu and click Apply.
Selecting the Theme's Start Menu in the StartIsBack++ configuration automatically skins the Taskbar. If it's not a visible option to select the theme's start menu, apply your custom theme first!
Install an iPack of your choice to change the system icons (check the Theme Extras section above for a link to the icons in the preview)!

I take no responsibility for anyone that bricks their system, use custom themes at your own risk!!

hey Shemhamforash (http://virtualcustoms.net/member.php/280089-Shemhamforash) i'm hoping you or someone else might have an idea or suggestion for what i can try. as you can see in the image that the actual day name is a bit funky on a doubled taskbar. yes before you ask i'm running winstep xtreme, but i decided i didn't like the way nextstart looked so i disabled it from startup just leaving nexus and workshelf cause they look fine under gor's winstep hud theme. rather than find a fix for how the day name looks i'd just as soon remove it leaving just the time and date only. i've looked for how to, but have had no luck, so any suggestions and or help would be greatly appreciated.

I see an invisible taskbar in your screenshot, I see no day name or time date.

Now I get what you mean. Yeah that is the font unsteady oversteer, lower case letters look odd and blocky but numbers and uppercase look great. The only way would be to either change the font to a larger size using WSB (might work), change font or to set your taskbar to the standard height of 40px. How do you make it that size without using any apps on Windows 10, I'm trying to test it

rightclick and unlock the taskbar, then on the edge of it place your mouse till you get the double arrow, and then just drag up or down(in my case it would be down cause i have the taskbar on top).

That's what I've been trying, the same thing you can do on Windows 8.1. The cursor doesn't seem to change though, and so I can't drag it to become larger

odd. could try something i saw in one post i found through google, and that is to see what toolbars if any you have enabled, disable them, drag the taskbar to double it, then reenable the toolbars.

i found this but according to it i need yo add dddd to the short date format for the day to show. must be when you expand windows changes from using the short date format to using the long date format, so i'm going to look to see if i can force 10 to only use the short format regardless of the taskbar's size. i'll let you know if i find anything.

Best idea is not to have it that width, hide some of your system tray icons, surely you don't need access to them all on a constant basis, the only icon I keep visible is the volume control, all others stay hidden, also you should change the start button to match the theme for a nice clean look like mine

I agree with what Mr GRiM said, but I did try changing the font to impact, 10. I wasn't able to move the taskbar to double size until I diabled SiB

75495

imo no theme looks good with the double taskbar (more plain ones are ok i guess)

ok i'll do that, but will need a tut on changing that icon. i haven't changed that icon in YEARS cause of using nextstart.

you may be on to something. i do believe i disabled startisback, doubled the taskbar, reenabled sib, and then was able to size it at will even with sib enabled. thanks guys for the input and help, much appreciated. looks like short of going into the registry and force a change there win 10 has the format locked that way.

EDIT:

just found in sib where to change the icon.

Actually to change the clock font I had to edit the .msstyles but I think ideally you would just set it to the standard height and maybe clear up some space so you can use the clock and font in the original download.

I think I'm getting addicted to this new style (black and white)... personally, this looks better than gray.
