Hello

Nobody found how disabled the Win10 1809 Immersive context menu ?
Since the registry key is no longer working

Too bad that it is not possible to modify it with WSB

Thanks

ThanksThey are practically identical anyway. I could never see much difference in them. One is slightly larger, other than that....

Windows 10 October 2018 version 1809

Immersive Context Menus can’t be disabled in Windows 10 1809 (https://techdows.com/2018/10/immersive-context-menus-cant-be-disabled-in-windows-10-1809.html)

Versions prior to Windows 10 1809 allowed users to disable immersive context menus
that appear on desktop and File Explorer, no longer that’s possible in October 2018 update
and the registry trick that worked before in Windows 10 version 1803 is not working, thanks to Microsoft for making the unwanted user changes.
You can no longer disable immersive Context menus on Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809)

For uninitiated, Windows 10 sports wide context menu and allowed to get classic appearance look like that of dialogs in Windows 7 or Windows 8 by making change to the registry.
https://techdows.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/cant-disable-immersive-context-menu-Windows-10-1809.png

Open Registry Editor
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\FlightedFeaturesor just paste above command in the address bar.
Create a new DWord 32-bit value named ImmersiveContextMenu and keep its value as 0
Restarting the Explorer or Windows brings back Windows 7/8 like context menus in Windows 10.

This registry tweak has worked in Windows 10 April 2018 Update and is no longer functioning in October 2018 Update.
https://techdows.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Flightedfeatures-registry-subkey.png
We remember Microsoft making significant changes to context menus three years back in 10532 insider build, read Windows 10 build 10532 improves Context Menus (https://techdows.com/2015/08/windows-10-build-10532-improves-context-menus.html) and we’re sharing the screenshot from that article below.
“We’ve heard the feedback about the consistency of menus within Windows 10. so we’ve made some changes to improve these and give them a modern look and feel”.

No reg key, it was just what I was able to achieve in the msstyles, I only have it on the one theme though.

That's pretty cool mate, could this be integrated in to the shellstyle.dll so ONE will make the changes on a per theme basis rather then system wide?

maybe if make few changes on ONE or SIB (cuz its not UIFILE) its like a memory adress, but the way to hook its the same, so i think its very possible to integrate

I did on his email, but no answer yet. I thought I'd ask him on his forum. but there is someone with a similar recent question (for now we need to wait)

FORUM QUESTION:
@Tihiy (https://msfn.org/board/profile/36858-tihiy/)
MS remove the option to disable ImmersiveContextMenu in Windows 10 1809.
It seems to be an easy fix for CDefView::_DoContextMenuPopup, but I guess we really need your skills for the CProperTreeHost::CreateHWNDInternal part.
Can we get rid of the blurry menus with the next ONE release?

Yes he ignores the requests on the forum (and he sees them) since he answers other questions
it's limiting this attitude of not responding for those who donated (ONE) or paid the license (SIB)...

If anyone can explain how to make this change :)

Thank you for the work
We can have the Classic Context Menu by changing the "theme" (aero.msstyles) ?

It was possible by changing "strings" in shell32 too ?

but i do not believe nicely shared these "strings"

Yes, you can get the Classic Context Menu with theme files. But your other question, i didn't try anything for editing or changing shell32.dll file.

Alright, look! In Windows 10's aero.msstyles file, there is a 1x2 pixel png file under Lists, Menus & Tabs > PopUpItem. (Picture-1).
81035When you export this file and open it with paint, you can see the gray selection color with some zooming. (Picture - 2).
81036We can access this classic context menu by replacing this gray area with light blue and importing the file again.

Sorry for bad English. Thanks, Google Translate.

You can't adjust the dimensions with this way, if you use a custom theme, dude.

I'm using this theme on my computer right now. There is nothing error. All I have to do is install UX Theme Patcher. So in a way I'm using a custom theme.
