Is there a possibility to find the original width (as the 1903) ?

Otherwise this "method" no longer works with 20h1
It seems that this feature is integrated into the Windows codebase, there is perhaps the possibility of modifying that (via a theme or registry) ?

I have re-installed windows with the 1909 ISO but no luck unfortunately. It's always reverting back to old style at second or third restart :(

Edit: I have tried everything on my setup including reinstalling windows from scratch. I have observed that at the first restart the tool stops working. So this tool useless for me. Any other tool for this that you can suggest?

It goes back to the new wide address bar after turning the PC off and on. I have Windows 1909.

There is no current fix for that adressbar width above 1903 builds ( or just temporary for 1909 ) if I'm not wrong.

Have to live with .

As we know, Microsoft has integrated tablet mode into the system.
If you use a 2-in-1 device as a laptop
for example, you can activate the “Compact view”
under Display in File Explorer and the distances between the icons will be smaller.

If you only use the display as a tablet, it automatically switches to the larger spacing of the icons.
No matter whether the compact view is activated or deactivated.
Today I accidentally noticed in Windows 11 25182 (you’re already becoming operationally blind)
that the address bar is now narrower as well as you activate the compact mode.
I had Under the Hood (thanks for that) test it against.
But nothing has changed in his address bar
