Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to rebuild installers for programs. I have an installer for my Microsoft Lifecam Cinema. The software itself works on Windows 10 as i had it from a previous Windows 7 install [unfortunately the software recently got lost when i had to fix a problem with my PC]. But the installer refuses to work on Windows 10. And running it in compatibility mode also fails.

I was hoping someone could repackage the installer to work on Windows 10 if possible. I've attached the installer and a compressed file with the extracted contents if those are simpler.

The reason I'm asking is because it works better than the Windows 10 Camera app and can't afford to buy a new webcam to replace this one.

P.S. If this one can't be repackaged then can someone at least see if they can build a custom one out of it that perhaps works better than Windows 10's camera app?

Unfortunately i don't know much about installers and how they are able to work. It's why I'm hoping someone who does would be able to help. My webcam doesn't work very well with the Windows 10 built in app even though there are drivers for Windows 10 that give the camera app support. This program is what worked best for me before I had run a fresh install of Windows 10.

I have no idea how to use these....

---EDIT--

hold up. this says for msi packages, this is an exe. Those are different formats. I'm pretty sure this won't work with this one. Also tbh I was hoping someone who knows how could take the time to repackage it instead of me because I really have no idea how to do this.

I went ahead and edited the name of this thread to hopefully clarify what I was hoping for with this..

The installer, no. But when it was carried over from Windows 7 it still worked fine. It just can't be installed on Windows 10 via the provided installer. Which is why I'm trying to see if someone can make one that can be installed and still work. I've tried running it as portable but it won't launch that way.

Sadly these don't provide the software I'm needing. Only the drivers for the Windows 10 camera app which doesn't work anywhere near as well as the Lifecam software did before my fresh install deleted it. The camera app constantly loses connection with the webcam unfortunately. And open source programs have an annoying watermark on the screen in the worst possible spot. And alas compatibility mode also isn't working with the provided installer.

And also mine uses the CinemaFW1033.exe since I''m using a Microsoft Lifecam Cinema so those aren't really made for my webcam.

Here is a RAR file with the contents of the LifeCam folder when installed via Windows 7 if it helps. I had these backed up to use as portable if i lost the software but found out it won't load this way for some reason.

Yo, so in the end I wound up testing out a different program called Cyberlink YouCam. Although I'm not running a Cyberlink product it actually works fine with my Webcam. So I'm just going to close this thread.

Yeah as it is, the installer itself flat out refuses to work on Windows 10. But I have Cyberlink YouCam installed now and it actually works just as well. While making up for the discontinued features that Microsoft Lifecam had packaged into it.

So I think I'm just going to stick with Cyberlink YouCam.

Also I won't use these PC Repair Tools. I've been duped by far too many of them and wound up with something that was either full of virus infested adware or flat out borked my system So I don't trust them anymore without them being made by a trusted and well known name xD.
