Windows 11 22H2 (22621.1413) SecureUxTheme/UltraUXThemePatcher stopped working

Hello,

I have patched my system with UltraUXThemePatcher, then installed 3rd party theme (faded-VS-for-Windows-11-22H2-927011214 from niivu). Everything was working just fine for a week, but now system doesn't follow 3rd party theme rules anymore and a lot of UI elements turned white, while in some places font is black on gray background.

I have tried to uninstall UltraUXThemePatcher, apply ownership to 3 theme files manually then reinstall it. I have also tried my luck with SecureUxTheme, but the result is the same: system doesn't follow theme rules.

A help would be much appreciated.

please try to run sfc/ scannow
then take ownership this both files only in the C:\Windows\System32 directory
C:\Windows\System32\themeui.dll
C:\Windows\System32\uxinit.dll
then patch your system with UltraUXTheme patcher

Then I took ownership, patched the system, rebooted, applied 3rd party theme that was perfectly fine before, but still have the same glitches: UI being not themed (white, instead black as per theme), gray background with black font... ok then please try to using a different theme on your system if you have the same problem
if this another theme works correctly chcek if is not missing shell (shellstyle file) in your theme directory
pls can you upload one desktop screenshot for me here with UltraUXTheme patcher if is all your files really patched correctly

you could always try restoring your system to how it was before you made changes to it using "system restore"

Here's how:
1. On your taskbar search box type: rstrui
2. Run the app
3. Under "System Protection" click on System Restore
4. Click on "Choose a different restore point" and hit Next
Then just choose a restore point (check the dates) from before you made changes, and just hit next. You'll figure it out.

i dont know if UltraUXTheme patcher supports this build

hi nicely yeah any custom theme should work on w11 in dark or light mode ive got a few themes on w11 working fine for me always make sure you have the correct tools to make custom themes work also if the custom theme works on w10 it should work on w11 if the theme does work on w11 some parts might look different compared to w10 anyway hope you get it sorted out

every single theme for windows 7/8/10/11 can be used without a shell file
the shell file is only used to display these parts of the windows theme
if you remove this file from the folder all these parts will turn white
the shell file works only to apply these parts of the theme, it has no other effect on the theme or its function

hi nicely mate try uninstalling the uxthemepatcher and do a sfc /scannow then try reinstall the latest w11 uxthemepatcher and see if it works yeah otherwise backup your stuff and reset your pc and try reinstall your themes again good luck mate

sad but i tried secureUX to, its not applying, and yes i've hooked and patched and rebooted and applied again and nothing. gonna try fresh windows in virtual machine to check if 22624 still support, maybe just different UIFILES. lets see.
Windows 11 OS Build 22621 and OS Build 22624 is the same
both of this OS uses the same .dll .etc files with original (22621) system files from this version
different is only
Build 22624.1755 = New features rolling out.
Build 22621.1755 = New features off by default.
Im going to look at the 22624 build, I have a quick corporate KB upgrade that takes about 10 seconds to upgrade from 22621 to version 22624

hi nicely make sure your not using both theme patchers the secure 1 and UltraUXThemePatcher im using UltraUXThemePatcher and my themes are working fine also ive tried the requiem ported by moonique and it works fine

thx, ill try to find out whats going on, i even run sfc, dism to repair still no lucky yet. i always used enterprise windows versions cuz im developer, but never had problem applying themes.

and even after that i tried to apply manually on C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
still not applying, so how i restore from your tool? to get my theme pages back?
i also give u an tip, add signature to your tool, or antivirus will deletes it.

thx for the tip, I never use 2 patcher same time, I'm also developer "not saying this to boast, but just so you know that I took all the care I could, and of course I'm human and I can make mistakes"
but I made fresh install over 3-5 months ago when I upgraded my pc and since then I didn't make any modifies on my system, also I can't do other fresh install for now cuz I have a lot programs configured, a lot on HDD to backup and a lot job to finish. ill try to figure it out some how if there any app or software conflicting with applying themes (I don't think so cuz most of my software's are for dev and they not modify system as ik, but ill check all of them)
I also noticed that it is taking more time then normal to apply theme "on applying theme screen". and of course in last case if don't figure it out ill wait till I can do an fresh install. and ill update here the result, in case anyone needs it.

if not working pre-patched files for you now i know here is problem somewhere in your system
you are using 100% scale settings?
because some themes not support higher scaling as default 100%

lol yesterday i made reinstall system with overriding only system files, and nothing again.
just tested with 100% scale and worked lol, it was simpler than we expected in the end
but it looks a bit ugly on my system or its cuz my monitor is 4k?

also another thing i noticed with applied themes i cant minimize some programs to tray, but with minimalistic theme like nivu's, minimize to try working just fine, is there any fix for that to?

Hi mate, I have a good working version of my HUD Red Machine theme working on Windows 10 and 11, I made the theme on Windows 11 from scratch and I also created a new explorerframe file in the shellstyle.dll that as far as I have tested works perfectly on Windows 10 and 11, to use it you will need OldNewExplorer.

Would be good to see if you have any issues on a native theme that is not imported as apposed to trying to use a windows 10 theme.

To enable the frames you will also need to use Basic Themer 2, I also included my config file to stop it from messing with any modern UI elements.

I am sure you will like it, I would say it's the most complete Windows 11 theme you will find.

Hey Again, just to inform you, found few stuff only, but not big deal.
if i use basic themer 2, i must use win 7 command bar92575, if i don't use basic themer2 then its ok. the only difference is top window explorerframe.92574
i found an bug, while opening any folder (but probably its SAB problem, cuz its happens only if Win7 Commnad bar enabled)92576
and found few areas and programs that theme is not applied 9257792578, and the last but not that important
the search word are invisible on start menu.92579
but none of this is disturbing or making it malfunction.

Turn Mica effect on top in the startallback settings off for best results, it doesn't work with basic themer, also the caption buttons I will fix, I noticed it after I posted it for you, will take a look later, the other areas you mentioned are meant to be like that, this is the light version of my theme that is meant for every day use without hard to read text.

Edit: added a 4K 150% version
This is really awesome work Mark
many of my scripts for windows style builder were lost and i dont have any backup of them, for example a quick script for 4k themes
I created a video so that you can better understand why our works use so many different files
I created a special shellstyle to be able to use more special effects for my own theme
this will also include automatic transparency for the explorer.exe , startallback application .etc

did you find out how to edit themes with wsb on w11? last time i tried was not working well "it was on beginning of w11", was saving theme and corrupting making them not apply anymore, also i tried to make stylehacks and scripts, it was not importing anymore "

I have not been able to import any themes on Windows 11 yet, this one I made from a fresh aero theme and remade the theme, I am still having issues with WSB on Windows 11 as well though, sometimes file get corrupted and WSB closes, I can also not test unless a theme is loaded and then saved first, after it has been saved once you can then test it, otherwise WSB will close straight away, I have a very up to date version of WSB for Windows 11 though with all the new classes added and also some style scripts to help make Windows 10 work better.

Send me your theme so I can have a better look at it and see how they are different, I think it's just a case of you using an older location for the folder background images, I moved to a new location a long time ago because the old locations we used on Windows 7 were being used on later versions of Windows.

Mine are located in Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Folder background - ItemsView (#69), part#7, state#0 | ExplorerListItem

Yours are located in Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Folder background - ItemsView (#62), part#6, state#0 | ExplorerListItem

The location you used is now Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Items View > ItemsView > Selected Property

OK fixed the caption buttons for the 4K 150% version.

Also added a new system metrics registry file for 4K, remember to sign out then sign in again to take effect.

Some of the windows are not going to have the frame skinned, this is intentional as Basic Themer 2 can stuff them up and your window borders and caption buttons will disappear, if you wind any other programs that don't look right you can add them to the Basic Themer Exclusions list.

we on same boat then, i have tried to make script to remove unused stuff from 10 to to use 11, no lucky this time, i just didn't tried to create from scratch, i hope i can find time to try it.
