Windows 7 import to Windows 11 22H2

Important, do not use this to update any themes newer then Windows 7 , for newer themes go here Windows 11 22H2 Updated ClassMaps and Import Scripts (https://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/88580-Windows-11-22H2-Updated-ClassMaps-and-Import-Scripts)

This update allows you to update themes from Windows 7 to the latest Windows 11 22H2.

Update your theme by using the following instructions.

For updating a Windows 7 theme to Windows 11 22H2 first use Windows Style Builder 7-11 Part 1

1. Open the folder called "Windows Style Builder 7-11 Part 1"

2. Open the WSB Program.

3. Go to File > Open > Import 7 Theme and Import the Windows 7 theme you want to update.

4. Save your updated theme, do not test the theme or apply any fix and then proceed to the following steps.

After you have completed the steps for Windows Style Builder 7-11 Part 1

1. Open the folder called "Windows Style Builder 7-11 Part 2"

2. Open the WSB Program.

3. Go to File > Open > Import 7 Theme and Import the Windows 7 theme you want to update.

4. Select Import Style Hack and select "Windows 11 DWM Import Fix" (Very important!!, do not miss this step!!)
If you are on Windows 10 then you can also do the same step but selecting "Windows 10 DWM Import Fix"

5. Save your theme and then reopen it again, then save it once more.

6.You can now test your Theme and make sure it has imported correctly and does not give you any msstyles errors.

Enjoy

Don't forget to replace the shell folder with the updated one, if you are going to save the updated theme in the same folder then replace the shell folder before you update the theme.

You can use this version to update your Windows 7 themes on Windows 10 by following the same steps, the themes will still work fine on Windows 11 but they will not have any window animations.

Added new Shellstyle.dll to this release as last one had an issue displaying small icons.

Disclaimer, I am not responsible for any one trying out these scripts or for anyone who bricks their system, these are experimental and should be used on a Virtual machine for your safety.

This may not be the final version but it is the first version I have got to work, there are some areas that will need attention after the import, the Proper Tree on Windowws 7 uses the following property.

Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ProperTree > Background > FillColorHint

And on Windows 10 and 11 it uses the following properties.

Light Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Explorer Nav Pane > FillColor
Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > Explorer Nav Pane > FillColor

The same goes for the Reading Pane, Windows 7 uses the following properties.

Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ReadingPane > Background > GradientColor1, 2, 3

And on Windows 10 and 11 it uses the following properties.

Light Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ReadingPane > Background > FillColor
Dark Mode > Explorer & Shell > Explorer > ReadingPane > Background > FillColor

I don't know of a way to convert those color properties so I have grabbed the colors from a different fill color so have a look at the original colors and make any corrections needed.

You will also need to add the navigation buttons if your Windows 7 theme did not have them.

Also if you want to have custom frames on Windows 11 you will either have to find a way to modify your system files like ミறѳѳղղįզվદ彡 or use Basic Themer2 (https://github.com/Ingan121/BasicThemer2/releases/tag/v0.5.2-Final)

If the Windows 7 theme does not have matching frames in Windows & Caption Buttons > Basic then you will need to copy them from Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window.

The frames can not use any transparency and must be solid images, if you want some transparency then use System Transparency (https://virtualcustoms.net/showthread.php/84948-System-Transparency-by-Prisoner7-for-Windows-7-w8-8-1-w10-w10-19h1)

When you use Basic Themer I have been using it in the whitelist mode and only adding the things I want it to affect, like explorer.exe for example, first delete all the excluded programs and then add the ones you want and check the Whitelist Mode checkbox.
