Hi!

I am planning on buying some good &/or cheap windows customization software during this Christmas sale but want to make sure that the software I get are worth their price. What are the recommended software to buy as per members' opinion here, please let me know.

Welcome aboard guest123, If you want to customize or make the Themes for W10 and W11 your best bet is to go to vistastylebuilder.com (https://vistastylebuilder.com) and get yourself a key to use Windows Style Builder and download it from here in the forum after you make a couple more posts but, VC has a policy that you must make 3-5 posts before you can download any software or themes etc. Around $50 you get a life time key and free updates and style hacks for importing all your themes from W7 thru to W11 and more.

If you need any help just pm me :peace:Enjoy your stay here Mate!

Thanks! Would you suggest buying startisback or some dock software or maybe something from winstep or stardock (not WB but objectdock or icon packager) ?

Yes you should get a key for startisback but you will also have to pay a bit extra for startallsback for w11 for your custom start menus, go to startisback.com (https://startisback.com)
Also if you want to use stardock that would be OK to if you want to buy it go to stardock.com (https://stardock.com)
You can also download IPack builder from here at Mr Blades Designs https://virtualcustoms.net/forumdisplay.php/1227-iPack-Builder-and-iPacks-Custom-Icon-Packs

Currently I am using win 10 & haven't liked win 11 so far. On startisback site I see there is a $2 fee to upgrade from startisback to startallback. Does this mean once I upgrade then I will have startallback which will work on win 11 only & my startisback key which work on win 10 will be deactivated? I see that 7tsp/ipack patch system files but it seems startdock icon packager doesn't so will it create issues if I use both 7tsp/ipack & icon packager.

OK so you use only startisback for w10 and startallsback only for w11 if you pay the 2$ upgrade the key for startisback will activate both. I only use 7tsp to install custom 7z system icon packs. Sorry I don't know how to create them so I cant tell you how. But yeah I wouldn't use both to install icon packs just 7tsp for W10 and W11

Hi guest123.

Please remember Stardock apps and Theme apps do not mix well when used. I have a Multi Booting System with both Win 10 and Win 11 and use both Themes and Windowblinds.

For Themes

StartisBack = Win 10
StartAllback = Win 11
+ some form of Patcher like UltraThemePatcher (but there are others)

Windowblinds

Start 10/11 + Windowblinds .

Icon Packager is not full updated for Win 11, i use it partially but know what i am doing, so if on Win 10 you can use Icon Packager on on Win 7/8/10 , but remember you may run into some issues with 64 bit systems if trying it on Win 11.

Thanks for the info. Is there an option to change individual file types/folders icon in iconpackager on win 10/11 or if this feature is available in 7tsp? I will be using win 10 mainly but maybe will update to win 11 after few months/year on one of my pc. I did try trial of windowblinds & start 11 on win 11 22H2 & WB was not able to change white background of windows in places like classic control panel & overall very few win 11 compatible themes compared to win 10 on wincustomize. start 11 seem better but I think startisback will also be as good for me not to mention various themes here use SIB.

Yes Bud, Icon Packager can change file types and Folders and loads more, if it does not have a certain file type you need, you can add it in the program from a list it generates. As I am using Iconpackager on win 11, it is not advised on the site, as it can create issues, but it seems ok for me, that being the case i have never needed to use 7tsp, but it is supported on Win 10 so should be ok.
