Any network support?

I was wondering if anybody is familiar with network / torrent association. Seems like every time I download or seed my whole network just crashes. Pretty sure my network is set up correctly as it has been holding strong for a long time. I'm using a Netgear (something or another) wireless router. I run 2 LAN's off my router, (And of course, it transmits wireless). I dont have any problems unless i download a torrent. The network will still work file distribution wise (Not torrents, just networked files). And the wireless network doesnt dissapear. So I'm assuming it might be my modem? But more often or not, my connection dies and I have to re-boot my cable modem (Modem, not router). And I'm 95% sure my router firmware is up to date. I'm so confused, any help or suggestions would be appreciated. :f:
