Windows 7 Device Stage makes it very easy for users to work with printers, cameras, phones, music players, and other devices connected to the machine. Device Stage works as a central hub for all your hardware and gives the associated status, tasks, and settings information. For each device, it gives a menu of popular tasks for that type of that device. In previous versions of Windows, these were often located in separate menus.

Microsoft has now released a free product for the partners and device manufacturers - Device Stage Visual Editor Tool – with the intention of smoothing the process of tailoring third-party hardware to Windows 7 and enhance the user experience.

The Device Stage Visual Editor Tool is an intuitive process to create a device’s own customized and branded Device Stage experience with realistic device icons, eye-catching branding, and tasks tailored to the needs of their customers.

Along with the tool, Microsoft is also releasing the Device Stage Visual Editor User’s Guide, also available for download free of charge.
