Take Ownership tweak and manual take ownership for exe's cpl
Hi everyone
Since I been asked this a few times I figured I would do up a tutorial for taking ownership of a dll with the take ownership tweak,
and the manual way to take ownership for exe or cpl files
For the tweak its really easy download this rar file:
Attachment 36349
unrar it and right click on the .reg file
in the menu select merge
you will now have the option to take ownership of any dll file with a right click
Attachment 36350
Method 2 manual take ownership
Now for exe and cpl files also other types you will need to take ownership of the file manually you do this by following these steps
right click on the exe, cpl or dll file and select properties in the right click menu
Attachment 36351
then click on the security tab
Attachment 36352
click the advanced button at the bottom
Attachment 36353
in the new window click on the tab owner
Attachment 36354
click the edit button at the bottom
Attachment 36355
in the new window in the box click on administrators or your name which ever one you like
Attachment 36356
once you have done that click ok then ok on all the other open windows and exit out of that properties window
part 2
again right click on the exe or cpl or dll
select properties from the menu
Attachment 36351
again click on the security tab
Attachment 36352
click the edit button in the window
Attachment 36357
in the box with the names click on whatever name you picked in the other one before meaning administrators or your name
Attachment 36358
at the bottom where it says allow put checkmarks in all the boxes
Attachment 36359
click ok and ok again and you have now taken ownership of that file
Thats itLast edited by Big V; August 21st, 2011 at 01:15 AM.

Thanks for the tut Razor.
I was wondering if there was a tweak to 'remove' the take ownership tweak from your system without restoring the registry? And also... Where could someone find instructions on restoring files like 'timedate.cpl' back to their original security settings, if the backups were lost?
Thanks in advance..
Thanks anyways. Got it done:
sfc /scannow....did the trick.

I am almost 60 myself, but i do enjoy AI Prompt To Image. I love customising my PC as do we all, but for me, its always been a struggle to source Wallpapers to match my Themes. I have no problem...
